Noobie here, just stopping in to say hi.
Wife is trying to get me into vaping and as yet I haven't made the switch yet, kinda doing both right now. I guess I will eventually make the switch as wives usually get what they want eventually. So just thought I'd see what the hype is all about.
I'm just going to surf around the forums and see what's what.
Later.

I do want to make the switch because I feel really bad, here she quit smoking and cleaned up her car real nice and this weekend I put a burn in her front seat with my cig. Sorta made me think a bit more about vaping, especially in cars.
I think I may need a bit more nicotine than what the other family members are using because it really doesn't seem to keep me from wanting a cig. Most of my family stopped smoking the day they got their ecigs so I know something isn't quite right for me.

Welcome RMK0837. Sorry about burning your wife's car seat. I hate when that happens. Ya know, starting out vaping while driving is a step in the right direction. Maybe you do need more nicotine and there are other things in cigarettes that might have you more hooked. Everyone goes through withdrawals, some worse than others when stopping smoking. Some gradually switch and some are still doing both. Good luck!!

Nicotine levels in E-liquid are confusing to me too sometimes. I smoke Camel Menthol lights for years and upon switching to ecigs I couldn't find the right hit myself for a bit. Takes a bit of trial and error with the levels but for the most part my advice would be try and find a flavor that you like first then start with working on the nic level. Not knowing the level of your smoking habits i'll use mine as a semi-guide. I smoked about 1 pack a day and i found 24mg of nic way harsh even on low volt settings, went down to 18mg, still a bit too strong for my liking so I went to 16-12mg depending on the flavor of the liquid. Not saying thats the model to follow but just how I found a comfort zone that made it enjoyable and haven't had an analog since. Hope it helps

I smoke about 1 1/2 packs a day sometimes 2 depending on how my day is going. I tried vaping at work, took one of my wifes ecigs, but my lungs felt sorta heavy after vaping on it a while and still wanted a cig. Not sure what liquid she uses (guess I should find out) but that kind of made me not want to vape anymore.
I guess maybe this weekend I'll give it another shot.
My wife raves about this site and all the friendly people here and it seems she was right. Everyone seems truly sincere about wanting to help others in their quest for something healthier. Guess I'll have to ease up on her about being on here so much.

make the wife happy (cuz you know you have to anyway!), find a nice 24mg juice that you like.

seriously, at your smoking rate, 24mg or 36, WILL suffice for nicotine withdrawals (not sure about the other chems in there, though).

hardest thing to find is a "cig" flavor, all others are easy.

**try to remember your first cig. it sucked, didn't it. you coughed, your throat got scratchy, you probably got dizzy**

just need to find some flavors that appeal to you. coffee, ice cream, cinnabons, teas, colas, fruits...there's a large selection!

what kind of gear does your wife use?

oh, and i spent about a month trying to find a good cig taste. i was determined, but never happened. i'm really surprised that i vape stuff like: root beer, whipped cream, dulce de leche, moo juice (strawberries and cream), caramel candy, butterscotch, candy cane, got some peanut butter (!), cheese cake and coffee liqueur (kahlua) steeping. i NEVER thought i would be vaping (seemingly) weird stuff like that!

once you find your gear, it's way cheaper than smoking. tastes WAY BETTER too!

see if you can find a nearby store that lets you sample their flavors. you don't have to vape what your wife likes! better off having your own stash anyway!

others here can teach you how to save money on gear, how to rebuild stuff (it looks like some folks make stuff too, but that is beyond me!)

Good Luck & Happy Hunting!

Trying to read all I can but this stuff can be really confusing even with my wife, mother and sister trying to clarify it for me, but I do think I am starting to understand some of it. I will find out this weekend what my wife uses and maybe see if she can find something a bit different for me to try. I do want to give this a go so maybe a bit more research is needed.
Thanks all for the welcome and the advice.

Thanks for the heads up Sambuca, I was thinking of having her try to find me a good cig flavor to see if that helped as she likes the fruit flavored stuff, but maybe it's not out there. I am a heavy coffee drinker so maybe something along those lines. I just know I don't like the fruit stuff, at least not the ones she has.

I was a 40 ye 1 1/2 to 2 pad smoker. Started vaping Aug 24th and haven't picked up an analog since. It can work for you. I found for me 24 on the nice level works best for now.

Finding flavors you like will really help. If you have any vape shops in your area I would go in and sample their flavors. You might be surprised at what you like. I know the shops in my area do that and it really helped me find out what I liked. And tastes are different for everyone. My wife hates my menthol and coffee vapes. And I can't stand her favorite, blackberry lemonade. Good luck on quitting.

My friend. You came to right spot. I know what eats you. You dont believe that smoking some kind of vapour would help you quit it. Well I dont know how heavy a smoker you are. I had been rolling cigarettes since 1974 and I was a chain smoker. I dont know but I should smoke 1/2 Kgs of tobacco within 15 days.
I dont want to tell you about the quitting story but believe me it was very short. You can get real feeling from vaping and in a very short time
-your breath will be steady
- you will feel again the taste smell etc.
- Funny enough you will notice smoking smell and detest
- You will notice the differences as fast as possible
- you will not get 4000 material 400 fatal, 50 carcinogen
- But you will still vape
Dont loose unnecessary time go grab something (anything you develop habits afterwards) Find right juice (Right nicotine level and flavour)
You will thank that you are lucky enough to find ECF
