I received my VK today (very first e-cig) and so far it seems awesome. However, I do think it's a bit much for me, as I started to feel like I did when I smoked my very first cigarette years ago.

This is probably a stupid question, but is the number on the bottom of the cartomizers the amount of nicotine in mg? I'm assuming so, as the cartomizers in the pictures on the website say mg alongside the number, but the ones I have just have a number at the bottom. I'm pretty sure I asked for 4mg Doc Pepper, but the number on the bottom of the ones I received says 24. I have yet to try it, but I have tried the Cola (which came as a bonus!) and it says 18 on the bottom. Taste is great, but after about 6 hits I felt a bit sick and had to lie down... then I started to freak myself out by reading about nicotine poisoning.

I'm currently smoking about 10-15 cigs a day (Capri Lights -- or Magenta, as they're now called) so I don't think I could handle vaping more than the 4mg. (I'm still very confused about all that as well -- and I don't even know how to put into words what my question about it is...)

I tried to read and figure this out on my own, but I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment, and this seems like a great group so I thought I'd just ask.

Also, anyone have problems with the cartomizers leaking or anything? What happens if it gets in your mouth? That hasn't happened to me or anything, but I'm a "what if" kind of person. I have myself way too freaked out now, and I really want to enjoy this.

Thanks. I hope I don't seem like a complete idiot. I think I got a bit over excited and jumped in too quickly.

24 is high strength, no wonder u felt sick lol, you need to try something lower, i smoke 8mg / 11mg a lot of the day... or 16mg if im a bit .......

If you get some of the juice in your mouth don't worry about it, occasionally a bit of juice comes out the end of the cart too, just wipe it off its no biggie its not gonna poison you or anything.

First off.....welcome to the club!:D And yes the number next to the flavor name on the cart is the amount of nicotine in mg's. What mg were you using when you started feeling sick? You will probobly have to go down a level or two. The way people handle nicotine is different from person to person some can't handle more than 11 or 18 mg's but I can vape 36 mg all day and not feel a thing!! To answer your question about leaking....the only way a cart is going to leak really is if you hold it upside down for too long or if you overfill them when you are refilling....it's not a big deal except being a waste of precious nobacco juice!:D Sometimes you wil get a little juice in your mouth if you take a big enough hit but nothing bad happens besides it doesn't always taste that great! I'ts happened numerous times to me and I haven't noticed anything from it except that little bit of extra flavor in your mouth! Don't worry you will get the hang of it and will start loving it as much as we all do here!!!!:D

You will be fine, trust me. There is a learning curve to drawing, and while 24 is strong, I wouldn't worry about nicotine poisoning. I actually depends on how much you are vaping. During the day when I am not vaping too much, I usually use 18, but at night when I am chain vaping I use the 4-8mg. Smoking as lightly as you do, I am guessing that you should go down at least to 18 and maybe to 11. You can safely vape the 24s, but I would go easy on them - maybe take a hit or two and then set it down for a bit until you can get some lower nic cartos.

The few times I have gotten the liquid in the mouth are usually when I have over filled myself. If I am at home I just spit it out, but if I am out and about I don't worry about it. It is a very small amount and I have never had a bad effect from it.

Don't worry - if you have questions just jump right in with them. We are all here to help and there is no such thing as a dumb question! We were all new once so ask away! And welcome! ;)

You don't seem like an idiot at all! And when you first start, this whole thing is a little overwhelming. We're all different, what we can handle and what we like.

If you've only got cartos that are higher than you want to vape, you can go to the store and find some vegetable glycerin (cake decorating section usually at Wal-Mart) and open up the end of the cart, the end you puff from and put some drops of that in there to cut it down some. There's a video on here called refilling the cartomizer, the movie, it's a sticky I think at the top of the page here. It'll show you how to open up the cartos and put the juice in there. I'm just saying this to you now, because if you want to start using your equipment right away, you won't be able to until you get some different cartos. Also, try using it less and try not smoking cigs (if you are) with it. It takes longer for the ejuice to satisfy my cravings than it does when I smoked a cigarette, so give it a few minutes to see if you've gotten enough nicotine.

Hope this helps!

Welcome! Yes, it sounds like you might have had a bit too much nic. I smoked very little and I love vaping so much that I still overdo it now and again. The number on the cart is the nic mg/ml, so they sent you the wrong ones if you ordered 4's.

There is still a bit of uncertainty about how much nic we actually absorb through vaping. The Nic content on cigarettes is how much we absorb, whereas the nic in juice is how much is in it, much of which isn't absorbed.

I've been at it just under 2 weeks, and I can tell you the experience is already a lot easier, and better, than it was that short time ago. You'll get it.

As far as the carto strength, I started with 24s assuming, much like most do, that I needed more nicotine than I did. Turns out none of us are as bad off as we think I guess. My wife wanted a bunch of 11mg stuff, so we ordered mostly that last time around, I can satisfy my cravings during the day and vape pretty much non-stop at night with that strength... might be worth giving a shot. Our next order I'm doing 11 and 6 and hope to get down to nothing but the 6 in short order.

Welcome, and congratulations on your decision to try vaping instead of smoking! That is a huge first step.

Like others here have said, vaping is really, really different from smoking, and it does take a short period of adjustment to get used to it. It sounds like you need a lower level of nicotine. But some need more to be successful with vaping -- it's really a matter of some trial and error to get the right strength and the right flavor to keep you off the analogs.

So don't give up -- just do some experimentation until you find the right "spot" that you need to fully enjoy and benefit from the vaping experience. You might also want to try taking smaller, shorter drags -- at least until you can get some in a lower dose. The suggestion to get some vegetable glycerin to cut it with works great -- lots of people here keep that on hand for this purpose (plus it also increases vapor somewhat). It might make the flavor taste just a tad sweeter, but it's a great fix until you can get the right nic level.

Again, welcome, and don't be a stranger! We were all new once, and this vaping stuff can seem overwhelming at first. But we're a friendly bunch and love to help out when we can. :D
