I prefer 801's so they would be bigger. The 510 twisty one I had felt really plastic-y. I do like the feel of the plain delrins though. Metal transfers too much heat :(
I don't have a delrin (they just aren't pretty enough.). But I think they are a little harder than that. They are nice and slim. A regular 510 carto feels like a cigar after using those.

Everything seems to have at least some poly in it anymore. I picked up a bunch of old sheets to dye swatches on, but after I dyed them I realised they had poly in them too. Someone gave me a bunch of crochet thread I'm gonna use for my sample book. I have a bunch of those embroidery floss cards to wind the samples on. I just can't afford that much yardage for samples.

Do you have an Anna's Linens near you? They sell 100% cotton sheets and usually good prices. I can feel the poly 99% of the time. the new microfibers are foolers though.

Nothing like that here. They work really hard to hide the poly. My mom depises it, and she couldn't tell. I don't mind it when it's that small an amount, but it sucks for dyeing, even in little bits. I have figured out that poly can be dyed by boiling it in RIT for an hour. There's no gaurantee what color it will be, but it's kinda fun for a suprise.

I always got heathered results. Your crochet yarn idea is good though. Cotton is such a buggar to dye. What do you use?
