I saw these also and wow they just keep coming up with neat gadgets for us to drool over and wish we had the extra cash to buy it. I understand that it cost money to run a business. There is risk involved with losing your money on product purchases gone wrong, overhear for website maintenance and a multitude of other things. What I don't get is why does everything made in the USA cost so much more than other places and I don't mean china. I'm all for paying a decent price for a quality product, but some of these units I feel are way over priced. I also feel that some manufacturers are more profit driven than customer driven these days. Pricing is a supply and demand thing tho so hopefully soon we can all afford a provari type mod that doesn't break the bank.

because most of the stuff made in USA what little there is, is usually hand made or machined where as a lot of the cheaper stuff is cast metal, or mass produced on assembly lines where labor is cheap.

its not onlu USA products, look at Siam mods or MMVapors, hand crafted demands a premium be paid for the amount of time and attention to detail.

I'm going to be a guinea pig on this one...it's a shiny new toy, and new firmware revisions (or hacks) can iron out some bugs, I'm sure. This'll be my first APV in any case (I only have used an eGo-T and Vision Spinner up til now), but the review already posted seems pretty positive, if a bit apprehensive of launch bugs.

I understand provari owners are very passionate about this device, but WOW is it getting annoying. Everybody should go out and buy a F-150, right now! because that's what I drive. Sorry for the rant but its getting old fast.

Perfect analogy! I have thought about this debate in these terms often, and I can't believe people are still buying those Chevy/Dodge/Toyota "knock-offs." The Provari deserves its spot as the bar by which all VV APVs are measured, but that doesn't mean nothing else is worth considering. Choice is a good thing.

For anyone who wanted to know; I got My Vapor Record working with WINE on Linux.

My Vapor Record v1.1
WINE 1.5.19
WINE set to impersonate Windows 7.

I had corefonts and .NET 2.0 installed.

All you have to do at that point is start it. I've started it from the menu in Xfce and via command line. Now, I don't have my eVic yet, so I don't know if it can sync. I should be getting it soon, and will be able to test it soon. I'm expecting delivery around Christmas (before or after, not sure). So I'll update and let y'all know.

IIRC, you can get WINE on OS X as well. So you should be able to do it the same on there, no problem.

It would be interesting to reverse-engineer the firmware to see what you can do with it. Then you can create Mac OS X software for it, if you want... Easier to run Windows in VMWare or Parallels though.

Still, seems way too gimmicky.

Shouldn't even need to reverse engineer the firmware. Get MVR installed, then hook up the eVic and watch data move back and forth between the device and the computer. Then you can see what handshaking there is going on. As far as flashing new firmware is concerned, I'm sure it's just a binary stream from the .bin firmware file to the device. Probably a real small "hello, go in to firmware flash mode" signal, then just binary stream from the computer to the eVic.

There's actually a vendor here in Ireland doing a pre-order at the price of €69 - works out at £57 or about $91.
The tests haven't been as good as I had hoped but I'm still tempted.

In what way is recommending a provari to the OP trying to help. Did the OP ask for help? No, he/she said "I have found the perfect VV for me." I understand provari owners are very passionate about this device, but WOW is it getting annoying. Everybody should go out and buy a F-150, right now! because that's what I drive. Nah Fords have to many problems...If you have a ford deff get a Provari, something reliable while your stuck waiting for AAA

After having been vaping for some time, using the twist and lavatube, I just got my evic in friday from hg I'm loving the evic. As a regular on xda I'm hoping to see a section here on the forums related to custom firmware for this device somewhat like android. Battery life is phenominal and build quality is great. Do not let other veterans dismiss your potential purchase of a evic due to it's "limitations". Works great with low res boge, and dual coil smoktech xl and mega's. so far I tried them all.

Sucks that MVR is only windows based as a exclusive mac user. I guess theres some things that just don't change and have me keeping that old pentium 4 laptop kicking around
