Ohhh by the way, I did message the guy who supposedly made the coil base modification to fit the Aspire BVC heads and he replied! He said he was busy and would upload pics soon and replied to the original post. So I guess we'll see if the pulls through this time. I'll post it here if he does end up posting the pics. And for people who have used up their original heads, maybe take it apart and see if you can mod it somehow to make it vape better? I occasionally get a somewhat dry hit but nothing burnt or scorching. It only really happens when I'm vaping on it somewhat heavily though.

Ok sorry for double post but I decided to do a little bit of fiddling around myself. I compared the BVC coil to the eGrip coil, they are literally almost the exact same size, except the little metal prong that sticks out on the bottom of the BVC (with the hole in it) is a bit longer than the eGrip coil head. I pulled out the metal pin and screwed it into the eGrip coil base and it fit perfectly. The two coils are almost the exact same height when the metal pin is not in the BVC head. Of course, it didn't work when I tried to vape on it, but it fit inside (maybe the coil base sticks out slightly as it doesn't seem to screw in all the way but its still pretty flush). I don't know jack about modding or whatever, but I assume it doesn't work because the metal prong isn't there to make contact with the pin at the bottom of the coil base. Placing the metal pin back in, it's too long and doesn't screw in. So IF you could keep the metal pin in the BVC head and have it make contact and screw in (which would require either the metal pin to be shorter or the coil base pin to be shorter), then it seems like it SHOULD work and this guy supposedly took a tool to his base and made it work. I'm not willing to do that to mine since I wouldn't have a replacement and probably cut my fingers off in the process, but if someone is willing to try this or mess around with it... I dunno, it seems like it would work and I'd really like to see if that is possible with a slight modification. I'm wondering if it would work if you could somehow just make the metal pin shorter so you don't have to destroy your coil base.

EDIT: HOLY !@@$%@!!!! I just figured something out!!!!! Sorry, I'm pretty excited this actually worked!!!

Take your eGrip coil and BVC coil, pull out the metal pins on the bottom of both of them. Put the eGrip pin into the BVC coil head. It will be slightly loose but it'll stay put. Screw BVC coil with eGrip pin back into your mod. The coil base will not go in all the way but it will go in far enough that the liquid will not leak out. The mod can still sit upright but it will wobble a little.

AND IT VAPES!!!! It actually works!!! And I think it tastes way better with the BVC coil inside!! Now if there was actually a way to make the coil base more flush, but for now, this is a great way to use BVC heads in here!! I will be doing this until the RBA base. Try it out and let me know if this works for you guys.

I think that this pretty much comes down to personal preferences. I have tested the Joyetech coils against both Kanger and Aspire BDCs and just yesterday BVCs and using my diy liquids have not been able to pick a winner. Granted, the Joyetech is 1.5 and my Kanger/Aspire are 2.1, so there is a slight difference. But they are very similar in taste and I would be hard-pressed to tell them apart if not for parallel testing. While I'm happy for your excitement to use BVCs in the eGrip, IMHO it may not be that big of a deal for most. Also, I don't think that the BVCs are that much cheaper than the Joyes. If I can reproduce the taste and performance with the RBA, that would be the only incentive to abandon the originals. I guess we will see how that RBA performs.

Fair enough, I personally prefer the BVC coils and I think some other people do as well, but the main thing is that if you do happen to have BVC coils lying around, they make a good substitute if you don't want to order more eGrip coils, especially since a lot of other people use BVC coils with their other devices. I have a bunch of extra BVC coils and only the 2 that came with the eGrip, so since the BVC coils work, I won't have to order more eGrip coils until I get the RBA base. And the fact that I do think they have superior flavor.

I have two iSticks and I like them a lot. I run them with Protanks (Mega and PT2 with Kanger and Aspire heads, respectively). I liked them because of the form factor and they keep working fine. But the eGrip is way superior in just about every aspect, so the iSticks are a little neglected right now. And when I leave home or office, the eGrip is the mod of choice to go with me. IMHO, this is the ultimate mod.

Anyone with an istick and egrip, which do you like better? I'm thinking of an istick for at home vaping for more vapor.

I have both & like the Istick more than the eGrip. More times than not I don't enjoy the vape from the eGrip. It's too harsh even at it's lowest setting. That's not to say the Istick has been a gem. It didn't get that way until I got the bendable adapter- for some reason it helped a lot with airflow. Yes, I used other adapters initially and just wasn't getting adequate airflow.

I originally liked my iStick more, mainly because it seemed to produce a more flavorful vape using the Aspire K1 with the BVC coils. Maybe the coil that came with my eGrip is kinda crappy or something, I just feel like it's not wicking or hitting as good as the bvc and I'm using 50/50 liquid.

I changed the coil in the eGrip to see if that made a difference. It starts off as a great vape but then after a couple of vapes it still becomes too harsh. For what it cost it'll more than likely become another spare unless I give it away.

I just tried this with an Aspire BVC coil and it worked great. I also prefer the flavor of the Aspire BVC coil, and as an added bonus, they are much cheaper. Tomorrow I will try filing the pin so I can screw the base all the way in. Thanks for the tip!

But not the same materials/construction.

I have no desire to vape on a BVC over a Joyetech eGrip coil. All that ceramic stuff breaking off on the BVC really turned me off when I saw that in a you tube video.
