stupid wicking hack:

I've never liked the way BCC's wick, it's always three decent hits followed by a dry one. But the egrip had so many other great things going for it, that I bought one anyway.

Anywho, I took some really sharp, pointy tweezers, and gently tufted the filler/fabric stuff surrounding the coil, out of the slots on the atomizer head, and am having much better results.

YMMV.

I *just* got my eGrip today. I cannot tell 'where' the lowest setting is? On my 70PG/30VG juice it's tasting burnt regardless of where I set it? No dry hits, plenty of vapor - but just too hot for my liking? Am I doing something wrong?

FYI? My juice tastes fine at 8-12 watts on my Silo with a BVC coil.

Peter, the lowest setting is the smallest dot, or do you mean you can't tell a difference by the vape?
I don't know what anyone does with 20 watts! Or 10 for that matter.
Someone posted a picture of 1 layer of the filler around the coil removed, but I don't really want to mess with that. I'll just stick to PG.

As shown, this is set to 20W. Just turn by one setting clockwise to arrive at the lowest setting (smallest dot; some versions have lines).

Some people may have gotten really good coils with their device and others not so much? Seems like people are always running into this problem with coil heads of any type. The eGrip coil heads need to be modified or have higher resistance imo, they can't run at 20 watts, which they should if they came with the device so you can actually use the full range of the power with it. For the time being though, you could make a small slash in the slots where the wicking material is, try to pull out one of the layers of the fabric from the coil, or try it with the BVC coil with the method I mentioned in a previous post. I'm still using the BVC with mine and I feel that they wick much better and I can use the higher wattage settings without a burnt taste. Still, I am looking forward to using the RBA base when that becomes available.

Did you try this the other way? If you put the BVC pin in the eGrip coil, will it work on the BVC base? I'm just thinking if that would be a way I could dry burn a eGrip coil.

Thank you for the photo - I need new glasses it seems, as I can't even tell a size difference in the dot size. It's interesting using the same juice on my P3 with a Silo and a BVC at 10 watts (my happy place) vs the EGrip at the lowest setting (a bit warmer to be sure) - not as bad as an eStick, but still a bit of a jump.

I notice it's hotter when it first comes off the charger too, like the istick.
