I noticed mine quieted down on a few of my DIY coils depending on the amount of cotton used.(may have choked off the air flow some too since the draw got tighter.)
Just picked up a 30' spool of 28ga kanthral from the B&M store, so I have some work to do

Noticed mine quieted down abit when I build my first coil for it. Also turning down the watts a bit helped. Went thru 10 mls in a morning, will have to cut nic level too as i made myself alttle nauseated.

Well – The eGrip was my first re-buildable and I thought I had found what I was missing. Best vape ever.
I had been using the Kanger and Aspire tanks. I thought they were great but the egrip RBA proved me wrong.
Suffering from OCD as I tend to do – I thought I had better get myself a real RBA because this egrip can’t possibly be as good as a real RBA and I need something good to run on my other mods.
I spent the last 6 hrs trying to get my new real RBA to vape as well as the egrip – I give up. I’m sure the Lemo is a great device but I’m old, half blind, and quick to anger. I’m using the perfect 1.1ohm stock Lemo coil and the same wick material as the egrip. It’s just not as good. It isn’t like its not working – It’s just not as good. I’m sure it’s me and I’m sure the Lemo can be made to work great but I don’t care. I’m sticking with the egrip. Pre-wrapped coils are .65 cents and I have 20 of them. These premade RBA coils are a brilliant option if you ask me. – Still on my first one – re-wicked about 6 times. You would think I could learn to leave well enough alone. For me – The egrip is pretty hard to mess up and easy to fix when I do mess up. My provari and vaporshark are now only used for dryburning the egrip coil.
My only complaint is that I can’t let it get real cold or it will drain itself all over me pretty fast if I try to vape on it (cold in Maine).

Couple of things Vibez, do you have the 510 adaptor so you can fire the rba on a different device, like a mech mod or subohm capable box mod? Reason why I ask is because the turns can be shorted together when the coil is brand new. Until you fire a brand new coil the alumina has not formed on the wire yet. Alumina develops when the coil gets red hot and until is does you could have shorts between the turns of the coil. This would make the coil appear to the Egrip as too low of res and so it won't fire it.

Also when you install the coil on the rba make sure that each wire lead is only touching the terminal block it is attached to. It's quite easy to have the wire lead attached to the smaller terminal block short out against the larger terminal block.

And as others have suggested check for metallic debris.

Hope all you lurking noobs are listening; you cannot just measure the res of an unfired contact microcoil to determine it's resistance. It has to be fired and the turns given a chance to become electrically isolated by the formation of alumina crystals on the wire before true res can be measured.

Thanks for putting that out there cig. And it can't be repeated enough times. A tremendous number of peeps are trying to build microcoils and tensioned microcoils without realizing that the very reason we do so is...to make contact. Close contact coils which is the fad of the day lately with these coilers everybody is swoopin' to sell will likewise get you close. But we're not playin' horseshoes here. Close will get you a short and hot vape like a bad terminal post connection. And it can't be as well corrected by torching and compressing the coil. In fact, that can damage your fine work.

A tensioned microcoil puts turns as close together as nature will allow. When we pulse them then we get about as uniform an oxidation of that coil as can be had. The more uniform those insulation layers, the more uniform the heat energy ultimately passed to the wick. Less energy wasted to air or re-heating what little you did vaporize.

Smooth even warmth at whatever temperature you targeted for with your resistance.

That's the ticket.

And I'd love to see you all get that great vape so many others have already arrived at.

Good luck all.

:)

I've owned my eGrip w/RBA for a week now and I can't say enough about the consistency I'm getting out of it. The juice flavor continues to be there hit after hit and day after day, and the vapor density never relinquishes. It's been my best vaping experience in over two years.

I'm not a power user, the past week I've vaped 24ml and on the same stock RBA. I exclusively use AIV juice @ 11mg Nic. I do a fill up once a day in the mornings before heading out the door to work. I've only ever filled up from the factory recommended fill port. After each fill up my RBA leaks several drops from the air hole. I'm filling it nearly full but not running over either. I've tried creating a vacuum right after closing the fill lid but I get juice in my mouth instead of air. All I do after this point is let it sit there on a paper towel for a few minutes, then blow through the mouth piece a little to get rid of the gurgling then I roll a small piece of paper towel up and pass it through the bottom of the RBA and the mouth piece for lingering juice. That's it, there's no more issues for the rest of the day, no leaks no gurgling and no other problems what so ever. Just the morning routine of clean up after each fill up.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this? Is there another method I should be using to fill up like removing the BRA and filling from the bottom?

Kind of...I decreased the amount of wick in the RBA, which definitely helped. Also, I get a consistent kind of condensation/liquid build up when using the RBA. Like you, I just rest it on a paper towel and carry on. I love the Egrip, but if I could figure out this tiny leak, it quite possibly could be nirvana!

I agree! Just need to sort out this leak. I have a issue filling it from the fill port. When i try from the larger hole, it just comes back out from the smaller one.

So have to fill from the rba side by taking it out.

Do you still notice the leak after filling from the RBA side?

When fill it thru door go slow and have drip tip pointing slightly down.

This is exactly how I fill from the port side. Slow with a syringe and the drip tip slightly pointed down.

Just a few drops but barely any.

I do it just like that, tip it down and put the liquid in.
No syringe though as I'm always in different places when i fill. Use a normal bottle.

I really hope Joyetech comes out with a revised RBA base that will allow use of the stock airflow control. Of course, those who like the super airflow can continue using the current one. I'm still using the BVC coils on mine.

So last night my eGrip did that thing again... you know, where it just stops working for no reason whatsoever. Basically it does the 3 flashes whenever I push the firing button, whether there is an atomizer in or not. Usually when its working, the light will stay lit as if it were firing regardless of whether the atomizer is in or not. This seems to usually happen after I clean out my device with water. I cover up the USB port very well with tape and avoid getting water around it and I've started covering the button as well so water does get in around the button just as an extra precaution. It's weird though, it would occasionally fire but the next moment it was back to the 3 flashes. Ten minutes later, I give it another try... it fires for about 3 hits then back to the flash. I don't know what is causing it to do this. Why does it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't? It's back to normal now today... firing on every hit. But after the frustration last night, I finally decided to order another eGrip from Cignot and got the wood one. Hopefully this one won't have the same issues and I will use that one when my silver one is acting up. It is still my favorite device despite the fact I just got an iStick 30 with a Lemo Drop (which is a fantastic vape), but maybe it's because I just really like the hit of the BVC coil.

Anyways, I'm glad to see everyone is still loving their eGrip. :vapor:

Not sure why you have to keep using water around your device. The only part that is designed for liquid is the tank. If you have 2 main flavor types and like switching all the time, 2 mods would be a better solution. Other than changing to an incompatible flavor, there is no need to clean the tank IMO. PG kills germs as far as I know.

I've cleaned my device plenty of times with water with no issues. I'm convinced there's something wrong with my device. The mod can get water in and on it as long as it doesn't get into the internals which I cover. It works and lights up but it's almost like if I remove the base, something gets messed up and I have to mess with it for a while or let it settle before it works. I think it's good to clean out the tank every now and then. I wipe the outside with some Lysol fairly often with no issues and clean out the drip tip hole and the liquid feed port all the time. I switch flavors constantly which is why I like to rinse it out. It is possible I messed it up a while back when I got water in the usb port and that it has affected my device ever since. But right now, whether it works or not is kinda random. It doesn't always do that when I clean it so I am not sure if it is water related at this point unless it was from the initial cleaning when I first got it.

When it stops working, can you read the ohms value? it may be too low?

I'm using BVC coils which are 1.8 ohms and I don't think it's coil related. When the device is functioning properly, the button will fire regardless of whether the atomizer is attached or not ( stay lit when pressed without flashing), when it is " malfunctioning", the button will flash 3 times and not fire. The atomizer can be attached or out. It seems fairly random to me at this point.

I use the squeeze type bottles, and squeeze out some air before putting into the fill hole, release the bottle to suck out the vent hole before filling (on a 45*, bottom up) . Works most of the time.

I decided to rewick my rba a few minutes ago. Then it did a partial fire one time and wouldn't fire again. Pulled it apart a couple of times. Read the coil with an ohmmeter. Everything appeared good. Reassembled and again 1 partial fire and then nothing more. Pulled it apart again and decided to replace the coil. When I did I noticed the center post under the terminal screws was loose. I can only assume this is the problem.

Anyone else seen this?
