If it fits the PT3 and the older PT & PT2 then why am I hearing that the PT3 coils won't fit in a PT2?

KangerTech AeroTank Base - Sun-Vapers.com

Makes no sense how all (PT) coils will fit the base and the controller fits all (PT) tanks but can't put PT3 coil in a PT2. Pretty sure I read that the reverse is also true, can't put single coil in the PT3?

Left: Old-school single-coil Kanger head for Evod, PT, PT2 (and minis), and Unitank, etc.

Right: New dual-coil Kanger Head for PT3 and Aerotank.

The part that screws into the base is compatible, but the new dual-coil heads have a much taller fire chamber (where the coils are located). Makes sense since two coils take up more space than one. Some people report having the older head in the newer tanks, but I'm not sure why anyone would do that; it strikes me as begging for flooding and leaks.

You can easily seal the gap with some extra silicone bits - I made some out of drip tip protectors.

Also, where'd you get a PT3 head with such a long chimney? All mine are short.

That head came with my Aerotank, but my understanding is that Kanger has dropped the short-chimney head they introduced with the PT3 and this is the head they now recommend for the PT3 as well. I believe the fire chamber and everything else is the same size and that the only significant dimensional difference is the chimney.

Okay, so that means it's almost exactly the same as when I put my PT2 chimney on my PT3 head, except maybe not as tight =p

Why wouldn't you be able to use the aerotank base on a pt3 with the dual heads? The center post is lower (when looking from the bottom) than a pt2 to allow for the raised height of the dual coils. Doesn't the aerotank use dual coils so theoretically, its a pt3 with an airflow controlling base?

what the Aspire conversion kit does
and probably the same here (but I'm only guessing)

with the dual coil base there is enuff room for the
larger, longer dual coil...

then when you put the shorter single coil in
there is a small grommet, fitting, adapter
that you slide up onto the bottom of the air tube to make up the distance... (air tube extender)

read what Eric says here:

- AnyVape Davide Glassomizer

somebody sells the kit, but I can't remember or find it...

what do you guys think of the aerotank and the control? Does it have any significant increase in performance? My PT3 on mvp2 is pretty solid, i cant imagine if i were to swap the base to the pt3 that it will do any better. Can someone please write some pretty solid feedback?

if your pt3 works fine, then you don't need the aero tank base.

The base or airflow controller does not affect which coil will fit.

That's what I was trying to say above. You used a picture. I must now :banghead: for not doing that in the first place.

If it ain't broke, don't mess with it. However, if you want to fine tune, can't go wrong with throwing the aerotank base on. I'm still waiting on mine to show. The added bonus of the aerotank base is the enclosed pin which means there won't be any juice leakage onto your battery's center post.
