I haven't read all 181 pages of this forum to see if this has come up but I'll ask. I'm sorry if it's a repeat question. I have a black subox mini and I'm using the black subtank that it came with and a .5 coil. It's about 3-4 months old. Most of the time it works well and is a good vape but every once in awhile if it sits for an hour or more and I take a puff I get this hit that feels like I'm getting all 50 watts instead of the 25 or so it's set at. The same thing has happened with 2 different batteries so that's not the cause. Both are good quality batteries from reputable shops. After that one hellacious hit the battery loses about a bar of charge. Has anyone else had this happen?

What brand are the batteries and are they both the same brand and from the same shop as well? If they're different batteries from different vendors, all fingers point to a possible faulty circuit in your mod. Do you have another mod and have used those batteries in it without any issues?

So I went on a boat holiday at the weekend and dropped by beloved subox into the river :( devastated, time to order a new one.

OH NOES! That bites! I'd be pretty ...... if that happened to me. I suppose that's why my original kbox goes on the river with me. If it goes in, it's only 17 bucks to replace it.

So for those of you using the V2 rba, how are you wicking them? Wick tails through the juice holes or wicktails bent down and against the juice holes or wicktails cut short with the ends pressed up against the wick holes? Might not hurt to say how many watts you can vape it at with your wicking technique too. Curious.

I don't pull the wicks through the juiceholes, just make sure they are covered by the wicks. I put the wick through the coil, then put the chimney on and position the wicks in front of the juiceholes. Then screw on the chimney cap. A bit like wicking an eGrip rba, just easier.
I like cool vapes, so I don't go much higher than 17 watts. Haven't had any leaking or dryhits (knocking on wood).
Btw, charging the battery with the USB port is way faster than charging it externally. But that could be my charger...

So Cal
I wick the coil with Japanese cotton, fold the ends up then slide the chimney on and cut the cotton just above the chimney about 1/8" then fluff up the cotton and lightly push the cotton down to cover the holes making sure not to pack it to tight. Then will take a piece of kanthal and slightly move the cotton around the bottom of the holes so juice can get in easier. Prime the wick put the cap on and tank then vape!

No dry hits, no leaks. I can bump up the watts to 50 if I want but I'm normally around 25 for a nice vape for me. That is on a 2.5mm I.d 26g single coil at .55 ohms 50/50 or 70 vg 30pg works the same for me...

The only time I have problems with dry hits is if the cotton is too packed around the holes...or it's trying to poke out of the holes... Hence why I like to make room around the bottom of the juice holes. Loose fluffy cotton works best for me.

Nice jlmotox, sounds like a good performer. 50w with 70vg is impressive. So, you leave that wicktails fluffy but how about the coil? Do you wick it pretty tight?

Just pull it through the coil to where you feel a medium resistance, not so much that it bends the coil.

The biggest thing I have seen that makes the most difference in getting dry hits is packing the wick to tight around the holes... I have played with the amount of cotton put through the coil and that only seems to affect the snap crackle pop of juice on your coil...

O-rings are intact. Noticed today that I get a lot of leakage as it's time to refill.
If the level is low in the tank, it will affect the vacuum. Do you get leaks when it's completely full, even a lil bit? I'd still say replace the seals, because they're dirt cheap and it's not a bad idea to keep some on hand.

Is it still leaking otherwise? Found this link that might help out: Kanger Subtank Mini LEAKING | E-Cigarette Forum
There's that one tiny clear o-ring under the coil that can get dislodged - maybe it's keeping you from tightening the coil properly? And I'm reading more and more that sometimes you get janky o-rings with this atty. Sometimes with me, a thorough disassembly and cleaning fixes it - but I don't have this particular atty yet - just a bunch of similar ones. Sorry I couldn't help.

I ordered a new box of stock coils the other day and noticed they are slightly different. The last box of coils I got had problems, I would get dry hits at 30 watts where the coils that came with it wouldn't get dry until around 50. The new box has no problems but I noticed they look different. I saw other posts about defective vertical coils and was wondering if they were the style circled in the pic below. It seems like the circled coils were problematic, anyone else have this issue?

i`m going by the printing on the heads and the top one looks like the older horizontal coils and the bottom one is the newer vertical coil. if you are getting burnt hits lower the wattage a lil.
