new kid in town

Thank you for the warm welcome! I got into vaping this past summer. I wanted to quit smoking and this seemed like a pretty good way to go. I started with a haus vapor set but I figured there has to be a better set up than one I had to charge twice a day so at a local vape shop I was reccomended the smaller itaste setup. My boyfriend got the 1280 straightaway and I was impressed with the battery life compared to mine so I upgraded and haven't looked back. I've been using an aspire glass bdc tank, and I'm happy with it but one of the sides is cracked. Is there a better tank I should be using, or stick with aspire?

hello I'm new here too working to get my 5 posts so you are the unlucky recipient of a message from me. I'm in the same boat as you quit smoking and switch to vaping so far so good, when are you going to start mixing your own juice? Yes that is in fact a real thing and it saves a ton of cash, there's a section in the forums dedicated to it, read up.

Hi all :) I've been lurking here for a while, thought I'd join up. My current vape is from a local shop, an itaste 1280 and I LOVE it. My shop also carries an extensive line of their own brand of ejuice, about 50 or so flavors and I am proud to say I've quit smoking thanks to vapor cigs!

Phoebe

Hey .. welcome.. I was lurking in here for some time as well before I joined. I smoked for over 35 years and now I am hoping my vaping will totally replace the cigs. I love my vape products that I just received and so far so go. Never tried mixing my own.. heck I have problem with boxed cake mix.. LOL
Happy Vaping
Cheers

it's actually quite simple if you have a calculator, i believe the most popular one is called ejuice me up. but there are many available on the App Store, then all you need to do is a little reading to figure out all the ingredients. (Usually only 4) and the proper ratios to combine them. Dig into the forums and look at the DIY section

Welcome to all of you guys. You'll be out of post-jail sooner than you know and allowed to join the rest of us quitters on the rest of the forums. There's a little something for everyone here. If you want to see what we look like check out this thread and maybe add your own velfie someday:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ssion/638998-show-me-your-vaping-selfies.html

Or check out the next step in APVs on:

APV Discussion

Or maybe even browse the wisdom of our elders here:

This one is definitely worth checking out, even if you don't want to fold:

But here's the real point of all these links. There's a little something for everyone here and it all gets better when you guys join in the "talks".

Congrats to all of you for taking another step towards being smoke-free, and whether that step is going and staying "no stinkies" for good or just using vaping to cut down on your analogs so you can quit someday (in your time) it doesn't matter.

I am glad you're here and hope that you take something away from here that helps you in your path. See you guys around the boards.

Deuces! Vape On!

What is a mod? Is it somethin I should have in my collection?

Mod is just what people call their battery housings. Back when ecigs were just a chinese patent and a few weird disposables, awesome guys were taking flashlights and such and modifying them to produce vapor, and the name mods stuck.

Short answer:

It IS definitely something you should have in your collection. Maybe, someday. Or maybe not. If what you have is keeping you from smoking. Stay with what you have. It's working.

Loooonger answer:

"Mod" can mean any of the variety of PV's but usage usually refers to either:

a) an unregulated mechanical mod
or
b) advanced regulated VV/VW (variable-voltage/variable wattage) devices.

Think of a mod like a battery tube or housing that you put one (of a very wide variety) of high-discharge batteries into. The simplest mod is a mechanical tube mod. It's the most basic but also one of the most dangerous. It's a metal tube that holds the battery, an end cap that usually has a "firing" button, and a top-cap that has a fitting to allow you to screw on different types of atomizers. Notice that I did NOT say that it has any sort of "protection" circuitry to regulate the power/amperage coming from your battery. Use of mechanical mods requires a solid knowledge of ohms law and basic electric theory.

The advanced regulated VV/VW mods (often called APV's - advanced personal vaporizers) have circuitry that can help you tailor your vaping experience a little more than some of the more basic pen-type battery devices. The APV mods also offer a much larger amount of power for you to vape with.
Your iTaste 1280 can give you 12.5W (watts) of power. Some of the APV's out now can provide 260+W of power and it's probably not going to be long before they're breaking 300W!!

There is much, much more to know than what I just said but it's a place to start from...

So do you "need" to add one to your collection? Who knows? If you're happy with what you have and it's providing a quantity and quality of vapor that satisfies you then stick with what you have.

There is no rush and you definitely shouldn't feel the need to go spend $700 to get an APV that will give you (literally) enough power to set your hair on fire. Take it easy. Search around the boards and ask for people's opinions. Due your due diligence and research on what they say and then make informed decisions.

Mods are usually looked at as ADVANCED user devices. Particularly the unregulated variants. I say, before someone talks you out of your heard earned $$$ to upgrade your vape gear (and trust me, there will probably come a day when you want to upgrade) get a good feeling for what you want and what options are out there. There are hundreds of different products out there so don't be in a hurry to get through them all. It's not a contest, or if it is a contest, you may actually be winning.

Explaining:
Your iTaste 1280 probably cost ~$30-$40.
I have in front of me a SXmini APV ($190) with a Nautilus Atlantis Tank ($40) AND a DJK unregulated wood mod ($140) with a quicksilver Rebuildable atomizer ($120). So I'm paid into vaping (just from what I'm using just this moment) about $500.

I'm not trying to brag. I'm only trying to point out that if "NOT SMOKING" is our goal, then you and I are both doing that... you're just doing it for $450 less. That's a "WIN" in my book everyday of the week.

If your still interested I'll do my best to explain and definitely point you to some folks who can explain better than I.

Still... patience. Appreciate Not smoking because that IS the point.

If I've confused, been too obtuse or you need want more info, let me know.

See ya on the boards.
