I have that problem with one Reo with the new 510. Mine appears to be worse than that. Mine leaks all over the top and down inside behind the delrin cover and even puddles in the bottom of my mod. I might actually have a bad 510. My other one works ok, and my non-modified one works the best! Go figure. If I can't figure out what's wrong, it might have to go to the spa.

I have the exact problem. I keep using my non upgraded REO it never leaks, my new 510 REO leaks a lot....I've had it apart many times and hubby found some things and we thought it was fixed but continues after a while to leak. It's been sitting in my spare room for a while now.....I just haven't gotten back in there to fool with it....I am thinking mine needs the spa also, even though it has always leaked.

ok sounds like I need teflon tape.

Tracey
IMO, liquid Teflon is easier to apply to the threads. Not much room in there to fiddle with a piece of tape, with my sausage fingers, I didn't even try it!
I used the liquid stuff on a toothpick, like Rob shows in the video. I got a bottle at Lowes, basically a lifetime supply! If I had small containers to put it in, I'd offer to send some out to anyone who wants some.

I've got to get to Lowe's. My local building supply place has some liquid for plumbers that "contains" Teflon, but not sure if this would be OK to use. I'm just not understanding this new 510 thing. Both that are modified also don't hit near as hard as my one that is unmodified. I am at a loss what it can be. My voltage drops to nearly half of battery voltage. Any ideas?

Wish I could test it though don't have an old 510 reo. Might just be the ss pin compared to the old brass?

Yes, every time I remove or replace it. I can take whatever atty and put it on another mod and it hits like a ton of bricks. I just can't get the same performance from my two modified Reos.

Its not the 510 connection causing the problem or it being stainless . I would be happy to check it out for you .

If its not all that then its either the contact plate or most likely the spring screw that's all gunked up and needs a good cleaning. Remove the spring screw and clean the screw hole real good and even the screw and the threads on the spring with some rubbing alcohol.

Looked at 2 lowes and a home depot in my local area, can't find liquid teflon. TFE Paste with Teflon is what you're using in the video? Any other brands or places I can find the exact stuff you guys are using?

EDIT - Saw the link Rob posted, disregard lololol. In the Southeast nearly all hardware stores do not sell Harvey's TFE Paste with teflon.

I took this particular REO apart again, cleaned it thoroughly and carefully reassembled it. One thing I noticed, the covering on the firing pin was the culprit in causing the weak firing. I had a dickens trying to assemble it and not have that cover get in the way. I managed it this time and also added a little goop with Teflon to the threads and got it cinched down. Now, no leaking AND it's firing like it should! Now, on to #2. I'm determined to make these work the way they ought to. :).

Thanks, Rob! It took me awhile to find it, but now I know what to look out for. I'd have felt pretty silly sending it in to you and that's all the problem was. :)
No my friend not silly at all its the little things that get people even I miss the simple things at times . I once replaced a vv chip in a mod and you no what the problem was a loose spring . Talk about a toss yourself in the dirt moment .
