Hey all,
I currently have a nemesis clone and have been enjoying it for some time. I have been having issues with it randomly firing in my pocket, even though the locking ring is screwed all the way down to the switch. I have played with it and can't seem to totally resolve the issue, at least not for more than a few days. I've been wanting to get a new mechanical mod anyway, and this just gives me a good excuse. Anybody have a suggestion for what I can get next? I want something that won't have the firing issues, and i can't spend more than $50, so a clone is probably the only option. Thanks

Ever seen that motorcycle insurance add that says "one day you will go down and when you do it won't be you fault.'?

Thats how I feel about nemmy's,I had one with no atomizer attached lock ring tighted and luckily I was holding it and pulled the scorching hot battery. The worst part is I have no idea what caused it. Have you considered a little provari? Or if you need more power the 20W SVD 2.0 is just around the corner. I put all my nemmies in a bag and bought regulated tube mods a Segelei 20W &30W and trobeco 30W. Rarely do I ever go over 20W with 0.75 ohms worth of coil. So I think the only thing you lose with going regulated is lightweight/heft. You gain a lot of safety with the battery protection and short protection.

the biggedt advantage with mechanicals in the smooth unregulated DC and the newer chips are moving in that direction.

Thanks for the info. I have no idea why the nemesis is misfiring either...I would have thought it wasn't possible as well until it started doing it. There have been times when I just finished vaping and turned down the locking ring, went to stick it back in my pocket and stopped because I heard it firing. No idea whats causing it or how it's even possible.
I don't build super sub ohm, so what someone posted about a mech being able to put out 80 watts on a fresh battery won't be an issue for me. The lowest build I have going right now is a 0.5 ohm.
I like the idea of having some extra protection from the regulated mod, since the nemesis has burnt the crap out of my fingers on several occasions. I'll still keep it around and use it when I'm at home, I just don't want to carry it around with me anymore.
I watched a couple review videos last night and some people had some negative things about build quality, anyone experience this?

So I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a regulated box mod for safety and flexibility... I'm looking at the ipv2 and the segelei 50 watt. Anyone with experience with either or both? I'm also interested to see if anyone knows of a dual 18650 regulated box mod with step down at a similar price point...mainly for battery life but also for the occasion when I want to crank it up a bit.

I really don't see any way that the Nemesis could misfire with the lockring in the locked position if the switch and top cap are assembled correctly.
This, it sounds to me that your switch is possibly installed backwards, i bought a nemesis clone once that had that problem

That would make sense.

Op, you should take off the switch and make sure the insulator is facing up on the threaded ring and that the pin is screwed all the way in.

Yeah i've screwed down the pin all the way and the insulator is facing up...Still the same occasional issue. It worked great for me for 4-5 months before this issue arose. My guess is magnets need to be a little stronger. At any rate....I'm going to get a regulated box mod for my daily out and about with my taifun gt. I'll keep the nemesis around for using at home.

It is. Still having the random firing. Most of the time I catch it right after I vape and i'm getting ready to stick it in my pocket. Locking ring will be all the way screwed down and i'll hear it firing. Only thing I can figure is the magnets are either dirty or worn out and aren't pushing the switch back out. I've cleaned it very well several times lately thinking it was just gunked up. Didn't seem to help.
At any rate, I'll keep working on it and possibly order new magnets....But I still want to get a new mod that won't have the same issues and use it as my all day carry.
I might be interested in a box mod as long as it's small enough to fit in my pocket and will allow me to sub-ohm. I'd be willing to spend up to $100 for that if such a thing even exists.
Any suggestions for mech or box mods that will fit my needs?

I almost guarantee your magnets are broken. I had this same problem. Take the switch apart and check them

Know this is an older thread but my local B&M started carrying the BEC by smok. It is a 50W tube mod. It even has bluetooth connectivity. Pretty crazy!
Lol the last battery I need my mod draining is my cell phone battery! How am I supposed to call the vape shop to see if they're still open if my phone dies?!?!

Use an MVP to charge it back up ;)

In all seriousness, the bluetooth connection is only used to read puff count, how long you have been vaping and to change the settings instead of using the single button and menu function. You could always just turn the bluetooth on when needed and disable it after tweaking with the settings. I always leave my bluetooth off and wi-fi when not at home to preserve battery life.
