Hi all, I'm a new member, but I've been lurking a few weeks now. Brilliant source of info this forum. Anyway, hopefully someone can help me with my issue. I bought an 'eGo K' starter pack - so a 650amh battery x2 with ce4 clearomiser x2. And after about 2 weeks of use, there is an awful, horrible burnt taste. I've cleaned with warm water, still there. Then I tried ethanol. Still there. Since, I have read online that the ce4's aren't really meant to be used permanently, that they are disposable. Is this correct? If this is the case, I'd love to know of a clearomiser that I could get that wouldn't have any of these problems. I hate having to throw things out. Also, as I live in Australia, it's not that easy for me to get any supplies, I have to order online. I really don't want to stop vaping just because of a simple problem like this. Any help would be great. Thanks very much

Get rid of the CE4! When I first started, I got the Ego C-Twist 1100mah with a CE5 clearo on it. It worked for about a week, then that same burnt taste came on. Dont even bother buying new heads for it because theyre kinda difficult to find, and honestly, who wants to replace a clearo every week? I think you should get the Aspire BDC tank and pop that on there. You will do much better, and replacing coils is a breeze with this tank.

I started with the ego-t kit that came with the ce4, I quickly ditched that one and went to the aspire bdc as stated above. Found it much nicer and the replaceable atomizers were nice. I have since upgraded my gear and now use an aspire nautilus(rather big on an ego style battery) but loving every moment of it.

Yeah, the CE4's are pretty much meant to be disposable. You need something like an EVOD Clearomizer (the pyrex ones are the best) or Protanks, etc. In those you clean them out and replace the atomizers when they go bad. Here are a couple of links. You can probably get them less expensively from FastTech.com but you may have to wait a bit.

Kanger EVOD eGO Bottom Coil Clearomizer

Mini Kanger Protank 2 Mini Pro Tank Glassomizer

I love the Aspire BDC for smaller batteries myself. They may be a littler more expensive ($9 or $10 EACH)

You need to understand that all these devices have wicks and coils that get gunked up with use and all require that the wick and coil be replaced often. Two weeks use out of a CE4 is pretty much a better than average life span. If you are expecting to find a device that doesn't have this "problem" - they don't exist.

Hi. I'm back again. I've looked into my options and would like some opinions. I've been recommended in this thread the Aspire BDC and am probably going to order that. However, there are a few other options that seem similar:
Aspire CE5 BDC
T9 Bottom Coil Clearomizer 2.4
Vivi Nova V9

Which would be the best option?

Thanks very much

Hi Chris,
There are Australian vendors who sell this stuff. You might want to check out Vape King, Here is their clearomizer page:
CLEAROMIZERS - Vapeking

They have Aspire and Kanger. Closer to you and quicker.

Welcome!

I will also just contribute my :2c:. I have EVOD (non-glass) tanks, a Mini ProTank 2, and just got some Smok Aro (pyrex) tanks. I started vaping regularly (and exclusively) about 2 months ago. I'm constantly rotating and cleaning the coils (just drop in a splash of vodka overnight - rinse with water and blot dry before re-using. Everclear might be better, but I don't drink that stuff, so I don't have any on-hand LOL) I've not tried dry-burning, but I haven't felt that the quality of my vape has deteriorated sufficiently to warrant pitching a coil yet (other than the 2 or 3 that I truly singed/fried by accident.)

Depending on the type of juice you're vaping (high VG and/or dark juices) as well as the Volts/Watts at which you vape, you might find coils deteriorating more quickly.

The "type" of tank will become your preference - just like the "type" of juice you choose to vape. The takeaway is spare coils - the one time you forget to prime to let the wick get saturated, and you take a HUGE draw - SNAP! You've fried a coil and/or burnt a wick. I'm not into rewicking/building coils personally. It's infinitely easier to just pop open a new one and resume.

You'll find your "happy place".

Cheers!
