I purchased some 18mg nicotine from Health Cabin with 100% VG.

I live in Australia so it's impossible for us to purchase any juice with nicotine from local suppliers so I went for the DIY approach since we can legally purchase the flavours and import nicotine... Stupid I know..

Back to my issue, is nicotine supposed to have a kind of strongish woody smell to it? And what would I do to remove it? I read steeping would help (which I've started on one batch as a test).

Hi

"strongish woody smell"? - that's a new one to me when it comes to unflavored nic at only 18 mg. You made me look - er, smell: I have some unflavored 100 VG 18 mg right here from Mt. Baker and it does have a slight odor to it that's kind of hard to describe even. It's very faint, and I really can't put a finger on it. But "woody" - no.

Two other aspects though: What does it look like? The stuff I'm getting lately is water clear. Off colors might be pink, or turning yellow with age as the nicotine oxidizes. The more yellow the older it may be.

What does it taste like? A tiny drop of 18 mg won't hurt you to taste. Unflavored VG should have a slight sweetness to taste, with some pepper possible in the taste from the nicotine. Beyond that, you really don't what any strange tastes in there in unflavored VG at 18 mg.

Strange! Maybe it's just my sense of smell playing up :)

Is the oxidising anything to worry about? Health wise? Or will it lower the nicotine level after time?

Cheers.

store the bottle of nicotine base in a cool (around 70 degrees F)
dark place like a cardboard box. it should last a few years (2 or 3 years) with out any noticeable loss of potency.

Looks like a stupid regulation, but is basically a fairly neat trick. You pay lip service to the demands of the ANTZ's while turning a blind eye on non-commercial ( i.e. direct imports by individuals for their own personal use ). So it's not available through local commercial channels but you're not barred from importing it on your own for your own personal use. Quite a few countries in the EU have installed this 'solution' too - at last till a final EU-ruling will be in effect.
