I guess everyone on this board were (are) smokers and switched to e-cigs for one reason or another.

I tried my first cigarette when I was about eight years old, I stole two of Camels Menthols cigarettes from my aunt when she was visiting my family. I went to the neighborhood park and smoked both of them, but it didn't do anything for me; I coughed a lot, but thought it was gross.

When I was twelve years old, I took a pack of Marlboro's from my cousin, who was living with us at that the time, and smoked a few after school. I was having a hard time around this time and the cigarette made me relax, I could actually feel the stress melt away. I still get that feeling today, however, I don't know if it is psychological or a real thing. I never smoked because I thought it was a cool thing to do. I was caught smoking by my cousin, who made me smoke the entire pack or she'd tell my parents. I did and was sick as a dog, swearing never to smoke again. Yeah right!

I started again in high school when I was about fifteen, usually bumming a cigarette or two from my best friend, who was stealing them from his parents. This time I started because my friend was smoking and it was actually fun to sit with him in his "club house" and smoke and just hanging out.

I smoke through my junior and senior year, but it kicked started in college; I found that I needed to smoke all the time and that when I wasn't smoking I was thinking about it or dreaming about it. I was up to two packs a day and was turned on to Swisher cigarillos by my buddy. I figure nothing wrong with what I am doing I thought it more as a hobby my friends I would get together and watch television or BS smoking, usually having different brands and cigars.

I stopped cold turkey before graduation because a friend of mine was concerned that I was going to die a horrible death if I continued smoking like I was. I was smoke free until I started my job and found that the stress was too much.

I basically had a horrible day at work and stopped to gas my car when I was paying for the gas I asked the clerk to give me a pack of Marlboro Reds and went home and sat out back drinking tea and smoking a cigarette. I felt the weight of the day melt away and felt as relaxed as I have ever felt. I smoked a pack or two a month on good times, and two to three packs when things are bad--there was a period where it was two to three packs a day for a period the longest time.

I received some SPAM in my e-mail about e-cigs and thought it was interesting, but did not know if I wanted to try it. During the periods that I tried to stop smoking I started snus (snuff) and chaw, or smoked one cigar (cigarillo) which usually stopped my craving ... I received ten e-cigs e-mails in my SPAM folder and finally said "what the hell" and tried a sampler and liked it.

I started to research the device more and more and found that this could be the alternative that I was looking for, not only could you get cigarettes, but cigars and pipes. I settle on Volcano and ordered both the Magma and Inferno and seven e-liquids; I was hooked, but did not smoke them religiously as I do the analogs.

I smoke every now and then, but would prefer using the e-cigs ... I have to find where I put them ... I lost the container that I used stored them when I moved and haven't been able to find them. Oh well gives me a reason purchase new ones :).

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum. I used to live in Fresno about 60 years ago, always liked it there. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you'll like it here and stick around for awhile. If you want to see some good video reviews about all the different types of e-cigs, look for PBusardo on You Tube. That would give you a good idea of what's available these days.

....How long have you been vaping? Give it time. I never started to vape intended to quit smoking. Slowly it just happened.

I have been vaping off and on since 2009 or 2010 (I cannot remember), it is whenever the Volcano Inferno came out, I purchased the Volcano Magma and Inferno and a few juices and liked what I tasted ... I actually have a laynard for the Inferno and loved using it sitting in my recliner vaping and watching movies or television.

Interesting story there.... If you don't find your equipment this evening, get an eGo twist to start out with ... it's a good starter.
Thank you much, I will keep that in mind if I do not find it any time soon ...
