First off, hello everyone :).

I've been a smoker for about 20 years. And throughout the years I have slowly tried to ween myself off of cigarettes. So now I smoke the lightest cigs that I can find (Carlton). Well recently I just had my second child. And I realize I need to quit in order for me to be around to raise them.
Recently, on another forum, someone suggested e-cigs as a way to at least remove the carcinogens, and even quite possibly a way to quit nicotine altogether. I have some questions.

First off, I know nicotine is a poison, that doesn't bother me. What I'm more concerned about is the actual inhalation of a vapor. Are there any long term effects from inhaling the vapor?
Also, are the low nicotine cartridges low enough? I would hate to get them and find out that they're actually stronger than the cigs that I actually smoke.
What do they taste like? Do they actually taste like a cigarette? I wouldn't bother with the flavored cartridges since I hate flavored tobacco.

The e-cigs I was looking at getting were the blu's. Is this a good brand? Are there better ones that are more real? Money is not too much of a concern but it is somewhat, moreso in case I absolutly hate these things. I would hate to spend over $100 and not even use it.

Well I guess that about sums it up.
Thanks,
-Omega.

Look around the forum, use the search tool, or scan the topics. There are answers to all of your questions previously posted including about blu e-cigs. The research has already been done, go look, 'cause a response here would be lenghty and redundant. Not trying to be rude...:D. Also, there is a blu cig forum under suppliers forums (last from the end)

Good luck

No one can say for sure about the inhalation of vapor, but there have been some studies suggesting it is 100 times or more better than smoke. Depending on how many you smoke it is hard to say about the strength of nicotine. The e-cig doesn't taste like a cigarette because nothing is burning and there are about 4000 less chemicals in them than cigs. There is however a vapor cloud and you can get a "throat hit" to represent the feeling of smoking. Flavored cartridges are not a bad thing because it is not flavored tobacco but an entirely seperate flavor. Many of us do like the tobacco flavored carts as well as others. I cannot tell u for sure on blu but there is some complaints around here about them. I do think you would be wise to start out around the $50 mark for your first kit until you try them. Just make sure you get at least 2 batteries and 2 atomizers just in case there is a problem.

Thanks for the reply happily. :D

Do you have any suggestions about what brand would be the best one to start out with? I mainly looked in to the Blu's because it seemed like a complete kit that was the size of a pack of smokes. I'm away from home for hours at a time due to school. So I need it to be portable and not cumbersome to use. I read a couple of reviews about the Blu's and it seems kind of 50/50 good/bad about them. But I also read that they're the most like a real cigarette.
And removing 4000+ chemicals from each cig I smoke is always a bonus. And since I'm not inhaling smoke yet another plus.
And perhaps when I order the kit I'll get some other flavors just for kicks and giggles. Never know might actually like it.

Like I wrote in my original post I am going to try to use these as a smoking cessation device as everything else I have tried just does not work, gum, patches, and then I wind up smoking with the patches on or getting too much nicotine from the gum as I usually forget to stop chewing.

Once again thanks for the reply. :)

No worries Laz, I understand that people come to forums and are just simply too lazy to search. I, unfortunately, have a REALLY hard test to study for (nervous system), and I also have 2 kids (2yrs. & 2mo.). So there isn't usually too much time for research.

I have a joye 510 also know as a the yeti/dura/titan and it can be ordered with a pcc(personal charging case) like the blu. I love the manual switch batteries. They do run out in a couple hours so having 2 or 3 and the pcc is important. The manual switch helps you get a throat hit which is similar to smoking. There are also the big boys like the screwdriver,gg and prodigy. They cost more and are bigger around but they are excellent products because of battery life. As far as nicotine content you really need to try a couple different strengths. (not sure how many you smoked before) One that's too low won't get you off of cigs. One that's too high will make you sick. I recommend buying some juice. Medium would be 12 or 14mg which is around a pack of light cigs... and if it's too strong you can cut it down.

ruyan direct also carries the 510 now............

good luck

Well the cigarettes I smoke now are the absolute weakest cigarette on the market. They're actually lighter than ultra lights and I smoke about a pack a day of them. Ironically, they're also the most expensive. Go figure.
I'll check into those others, thanks for the link.

And not to get too off topic but I couldn't help but notice your sig. I'm assuming that you've seen ww.zeitgeistmovie.com and America: Freedom to fascism(freedocumentaries.org/film.php?id=199)/

Hi Omega, was a smoker for 19 years myself, smoked the Mbro ultra lights about 3/4 of a pack a day. Hate tobacco taste myself, had to smoke with a drink or a piece of gum. But I love the flavored cartridges (not the fruits so much but coffee, chocolate, RY4). RY4 is like tobacco with a hit of vanilla and carmel. Unlike any tobacco cig I ever tasted! I highly recommend buying a flavor as well (some stores carry a "sampler" with 5 carts, one cart of 5 different flavors).

I started with the low cartridges and keep the nic juice from about 6mg to 11mg of nicotine. I don't have cravings for the regular cigs anymore, but I do crave the vape so I must be getting my nic from the vaping. And I haven't felt any symptoms nic overdose yet, even though I seem to vape more than I smoked.

About the nic liquid, it generally contains water, Propylene Glycol, nicotine and flavorings. I couldn't find what ingredients Carlton brand has, but the Mbro UL I smoked had Propylene Glycol as the 5th ingredient. So it was already in the cigs anyway. Now it's more a primary ingredient in vaping. Who can tell if it's safer? I think for myself it is. I already feel better after 3 weeks. My body tells me it's better for me than smoking.

I like the 510 as well, it's around $50-$60. Small and easy to carry.
