I'm not sure this is the best advice considering I'm a newbie too, but I gave up the analogs by bumping up on my nic levels. I went from 12mg to 18mg. And occasionally when cravings were bad I would hold the vape in for a few seconds, after a few times the craving would pass. I'm back to 12mg now after I officially tossed the analogs I was getting nic sick, but it worked for me, maybe it's worth a shot[emoji2]

KelMichelle makes a great point here - I was using a high nic level when I quit the analogs and I vape like an absolute fiend (I can round robin my puff counter several times a day without batting an eyelash). Because of that however, I found the higher nic level made me nic sick very quickly, so I backed it down to 12 mg / ml and I haven't had any problems since then. By all means, use the bump in nic levels to help if that's what it takes but if you find yourself vaping a lot more make sure you don't make yourself nauseous or light headed in the process. Good luck and happy vaping!

I was a menthol smoker too. Mount Baker Vapors has a great flavor, Extreme Ice, and since quitting smoking, I can't imagine going back to real cigs, because the juice I have is so yummy! I can use my imagination and smell my ashtray in the garage and in the car, and it makes me queasy. Blech! Now I smell all minty. :vapor: And I can do it right in my room!

Hang in there. There are many folks on this forum who have been in your shoes. When I started vaping I was using a step 3 patch (7mg) and 24mg e-juice. That was a lot of nic, and I quickly went down to 18mg (like didn't go more than a couple tanks on the 24mg). For a 2 PAD smoker this was what I needed to get over the hump. Eventually I dumped the patch and I'm now down to 12mg. It's a progression - just stick with it.

Congrats, you've taken the first necessary steps towards eradicating cigarettes from your life. I suggest that that you up the nicotine to 24mg. Every time you want a cig, vape like a fiend. The trick to not smoking is... Don't buy anymore cigarettes. I know it's easier said than done. I replaced a 22yr 2pad habit with vaping and have never looked back. You can do it! Reassure yourself that vaping is giving you the nicotine that you crave and need. It's a mental struggle at first, but before you know it, you will have completely replaced the cancer sticks for a much healthier alternative. Good luck! and we'll all be here if and when you need moral support.

You guys are incredibly encouraging and inspiring. I love hearing the years off analogs and can't wait to have my story.

Also, I forgot to mention this in my OP...the vape shop employee recommended that I smoke one analog in the morning and one before I go to bed until that pack runs out. His idea was that the analogs would start tasting bad which would help the struggle in transitioning. What do you guys think?

The best advice I got was to vape before caving to the craving. I think it takes the brain a while before it understands that its nic is still coming, just from a different delivery service. I would vape like mad, and if I still wanted a cig, I'd have one. But it didn't take long before those Marlboros were tasting gross. I don't even remember if I emptied that last pack or just let my hubby smoke it, lol. But I do remember the moment I knew I was free from the cig addiction - I was driving home from doing some errands and realized I had not brought the cigs and lighter, and had not even missed them.

Like everyone else said, don't beat yourself up! You're doing fine! Every time you vape instead of smoke, you win!

Hi Chelsea!! you're trying ...don't beat yourself up. I was a menthol smoker too, and for the first week I had menthol tobacco flavor when I'd have a craving. Now it's nasty, I got Suicide Bunny's Madrina (it's got a cool exhale) and love love it, and grab it when I'm craving. I think the Nic level when first quitting is very important, at those craving times, (with coffee, after a meal ,etc) I still grab an 18mg (started at 24mg two months ago, am down to a 12mg and 3 or 6mg when I'm sitting around chaing vaping) but it's meeting the needs.

find what works for you...and remember those "Filthy Cigarettes" (a little humor hope it doesn't offend) :)

Hello all! Brand new member after reading a lot of your posts for a while. I recently got a setup that I'm happy with, but I'm failing with quitting my analogs. I keep turning to them and buying more packs. I'm definitely not smoking as many as I usually do, but I want them out of my life. I can't figure out why I'm doing this besides the idea that I'm not strong enough. But I know I am!! Requesting some tips, ideas, etc. I badly want to quit. Thanks!

I'm fairly new to vaping. It took me about a week to get completely away from analogs. I started with 24 mg juice that had a throat hit similar to analogs, Brutal Juice. I quickly discovered that air flow & voltage/wattage control are VERY important. Different juices, tanks & batteries require different settings. I stay pretty busy so I stay away from the mods I would have to "fiddle" with. Vision Spinners, 1600 MAH & a itaste MVP work REALLY well. I've had dependability issues with 1300 mah ego-ts. Kanger Protank 2s rock, especially with the adjustable air flow control valves attached. I buy juice at my local B&M but ebay is my favorite for gear. There is alot to learn. I'm having fun with it & this forum has been a great help. 2 mos completely off analogs !!! For a 46 year 2 1/2 pack a day smoker, that says ALOT !!!!!!! Keep at it & HAVE FUN WITH VAPING !!! :) :) :)

The analogs didn't taste bad to me until I finally have them up for a week. I bartend on the weekend so I'm working in an environment where people smoke frequently although not inside. After the first week I did fine at home and when I got to work that weekend I was just like I wanna smoke however when I did it was awful. If you can make it a few days I promise you can make it longer! And don't worry if you slip up, just keep going! It took me six months to transition, it's not the ones you smoke it's the ones you didn't smoke :) I also started rewarding myself with the money I save on not buying cigarettes, this helped too :) And try the nicotine bump up like I mentioned before that may help as well, good luck!

I say try it and see if it works for you. If standing on my head and stacking nickels all day would help someone quit then i say go for it! It seems a little counter-intuitive, like telling a gambling junky to only gamble on Wednesdays tbh though. But that is only 2 cigs and thatll stretch a pack for 10 days.

Whatever you do, DO NOT beat yourself up. Ive said this many times and I'm sure I'll say it many times again:

Not everybody quits their first day of vaping.

Some do. Others take a while. I took six weeks. I still got there.

Try to watch your habits and "triggers". I did things like shove the cigs to less convenient places. The vapor was always to hand but the smokes were put away. I had to go get one at a time and stay I the kitchen. No sitting around at the desk with the computer nor on the couch in the living room.

I let myself have one if I just couldn't stand it but kept making it less and less convenient.

Cut yourself some slack. You may not yet have found the right combination of kit and juice that pulls you away completely from smoking. Sometimes, you have to experiment to find your "sweet spot".

You are smoking less right? Okay so they're not "out" of your life yet but they are headed out the door. Pat yourself on the back for getting this far. You ARE on your way.
