Just joined and like in any other forum I've ever joined I like to make an initial, relative post introducing myself.
I'm an ex analog and cigar smoker for >43 years. Quit cigarettes 17 years ago (two packs a day) and began cigars eventually moving up to authentic Cuban and Nicaraguan cigars, often inhaling them down to where they got to hot to handle. Health issues and financial got me looking into vaping. I began vaping about four months ago with supermarket bought cig-alikes and have not touched a cigar since then.
I've taken to vaping like a fish to water. My experience with cig-alikes lasted less than a week before hunting down a B&M where I was introduced to my first APV. Since then I've acquired a few regulated devices, several tanks and drippers and a parallel mech mod. Coming from an electrical engineering and IT background I have quickly grasped the technical and safety issues associated with vaping as a hobby. I've joined ECF to expand my knowledge and contribute wherever I can. I'm now venturing into DIY because of the challenges presented chasing the perfect flavor, and practicality, because of the cost savings. Ten mils daily gets quite expensive at retail prices. I'll be heading over to the DIY section to make sure I'm making an educated decision when ordering my initial flavors and supplies.
I can't say that vaping has saved my life but I am most certain that it has extended it. I'm afraid the damage has done due to lifestyle choices many years ago. Still, positive changes can have a positive impact in the quality of life.
