Hi everyone.

First, hello from a new member. I've ben vaping for quite a while now and really enjoying being cigarette-free.

I've noticed something over the past few days that I really need some help on.

When I started vaping I didn't really have any issues at all, but then I developed a really sore mouth. I tried swapping to different liquids and nothing really helped. Then recently I changed the atomiser head in my vape and used that for several weeks without issue (except it didn't fit properly and so was constantly leaking). I've then gone back to my previous model of atomiser (Totally Wicked CS Air 1.6 ohm) and the sore mouth was back within an hour.

It seems that I'm hyper-sensitive to something in the CS atomiser heads but can anyone help me to work out what it is and what atomiser or vape kit I should get in order to help? According to their website, the 1.6 ohm atomiser uses natural cotton wicking material and stainless steel coil material. Are there known sensitivities to these?

Hoping you can help.

Ian

Welcome to the ECF Ian!

Can you explain a bit more about the "sore mouth"?

Cotton nor steel tend to give problems as far as I know.
Do you know which coil you used for those several weeks, and do you have a device that would use them?
Are the CS coils authentic?
Did you make any adjustments to your power levels between coil types?

Being 1.6ohms coils, that probably means low power settings - 8 to 12 watts or so, and mouth to lung inhales. Are you comfortable with going to direct lung inhales and more power?

Thank you so much for the reply.

Re. "sore mouth" it's sore tongue, gums and roof of mouth - basically my whole mouth feels red raw.

The coils are from Totally Wicked which is a reputable supplier here in the UK, so I'm hoping they are authentic.

I have a very simple vape which, as far as I know, doesn't have any facility to adjust power. I don't really know whether I'm comfortable with direct lung inhales - I'm not even sure I'd know what this means (sorry for being such a newb!).

I believe the other coil I used was also from totally wicked - perhaps it was just old as I'm now trying another, which doesn't appear to leak (they were from my partner's vape but are listed as being compatible with my vape (Eleaf Tance Max).

Welcome

When i start vaping i had some problems like that and and also very dry mouth...in my case it was the pg in juices that causes my mouth to get dry and get sore...
Also it seems i was using higher nic juice than i should and that also made my mouh dry...

then chaged e juice and used somehing wih more glyceryn (vg) and since then its fine...
There are many reasons tho u may have sore throat...
I googled your device and saw its a pod...meaning its a small and portable device...i wonder since its soo portable device maybe u put in your pocket and stuff and then use it and u know i mean could get infection from that??
Just saying we put that stuff in our mouth..
Also maybe u didnt had problem with that coil u uused once but could be coincidence cause i feel vey rate to be he coil materials that caused this...

Make sure u stay hydrated while u vape...

Do u ever get dry mouth??
Except if u have a stainless steel alergy????
What material was that leaking coil that worked out???

Maybe try a new setup that gives you more control. Device you can adjust the settings and an rta you control the wick material and wire. Easiest thing to try first is your juice, try unflavored 1st. If that doesn't help try vg heavy and add a couple drops of distilled water to the tank so the juice wicks easily. Tedious but the process of elimination is you bet route to take with both gear and juice. Tedious because to find the culprit you have to only eliminate one thing at a time.
