New member looking for advice. RSST with MVP or SVD?

Hello. I hope this post finds everyone well. I have been vaping for a little over two years now using two 1100mah Ego batteries and either a CE4 or Vivi Nova. My batteries are starting to die and I’m looking at upgrading to an AVP and genesis-style atomizer. I was thinking about getting a iTaste MVP and RSST RBA, but have a couple of concerns. First, the MVP’s wattage and voltage range (3.3 - 5.0 volts, 6.0 – 11.0 watts) seems somewhat limited compared to something like the iTaste SVD (3.3 - 6.0 volts, 3.0 - 15.0 watts). Will the MVP’s wattage and voltage range allow me to get the most out of an RSST, or should I get the SVD? The only reason I don’t just get the SVD is that I like the simplicity of the MVP having a built in battery and OHM meter (also the price of the MVP is hard to get over...). I know the power issue is greatly dependent on the type of coil built in the RSST, but I didn’t plan on anything too fancy. Stainless steel rope with Eko-Wool sleeve and maybe four wraps of 30 gauge kanthal wire. BTW, what is the best gauge wire to use with an RSST?
Anyways, I know some of that stuff is a little off-topic. My main question is if I want to get an RSST, should I get an MVP or SVD?

positives

MVP is self contained - no extra batteries or charger needed and can be used as a passthrough
MVP can charge your cellphone in an emergency (if you have a cable with you)

tank will look better on the SVD

SVD is telescopic so you can use 18350, 18500 and 18650 batteries
SVD also has ohm meter

negatives

SVD will not work as a pass through (but you can have multiple batteries charged and ready to go - I have 12 different 18XXX batteries)
SVD will not charge your phone
SVD is not as pocket friendly as the MVP

when the battery in the MVP finally dies you will need to replace the whole unit (but by then you will already have bought 4 or 5 newer and greater mods)

I vote for the SVD

either one will not fire below about 1.2 or 1.3 ohms so I do not think 4 wraps of 30 kanthal will work for you maybe 6-8

the rsst has an insulated wick hole so I do not think the eco-wool sleeve is needed but I have never dealt with eco wool so what do I know

The mvp2 also has an ohm meter..I don't know if the "also" on the svd was a point you forgot to add to the info or what. I've also measured the MVP under a 0.8ohm load, and it will work. It will also not let you put too much voltage on it. No matter what setting you have it on, it won't exceed voltage for current rating. This also works with higher resistances. A 3ohm coil won't go past ~8.5watts, because the range is 5volts. 9watts is 5.2 volts at 3ohms.

You don't need an insulator on a genesis wick hole..

I'm not going to tell you what to get. 3ohm coils will have better range with the svd...outside of that, it's preference.

Im presently using a Vamo3 with an RSST and as soon as my buddy gets his new setup I will get a KayfunClone and an SVD.
The SVD has a wider range on power, runs in VV or VW mode , can handle 18350 - 18650 battery sizes, its made of SS and just looks sharp.
I like the RSST since you can use silica wick, Eckowool, Mesh, and even Cotton. And if you ever get into mechs, you can use the RSST with them too. The ONLY issue I have with the RSST is if you accidently bump the top cap a bit too hard it can be knocked off thus leaving you searching frantically for it....

Hey guys. I really appreciate all of the advice. I think I'm going to go for the SVD. I'm planning to buy local here in Shreveport as long as I can verify that the product is genuine. There are too many fakes out there and too many business owners willing to sell them. Anything I should keep an eye out for?

I love my MVP, I want an SVD too but I run my RSST on my MVP no issue, it wont fire with anything lower than .8ohms. But the MVP has spoiled me a bit, I went from ego type batteries to the MVP so now when i moved into a Mec Mod or my new VTR Im not use to the lack of battery life. The MVP will last me two days on a full charge but i can blow through a 2200mah Battery in my VTR in like 6hours! Even my nice 2900mah high amp batteries are lucky to pull more than 12hours of use. I love my MVP, even owning its big brother i still find myself using it as my primary and trusted device. I still want an SVD too, I want them all!!!

I would recommend going with the SVD if you're only going to have one mod. I had an MVP and upgraded because I like to fully cycle my batteries (all the way full to all the way dead), and you can't do that if you can't replace the batteries at will. Being able to swap batteries out of the mod is super important for me.

Also I doubt you'll be able to get into microcoils at full potential on an MVP due to the wattage limitation, and I also had issues with my buttons on the MVP becoming loose and rattling after a couple months, no such issues on the SVD.

The ONLY issue that I have with the SVD, is that it's top heavy in 18650 mode, and the center of gravity is too high... but you're going to have that problem with any VV/VW mod that isn't in a box configuration at 22mm diameter.

I love my MVP 2, its great and no issues from it. I like to keep it simple though. The price of the MVP is the attractive part, the other plus for me is i can get 5 days out of my battery. Good luck with which ever you choose.
