Hi Guys

2 months of no smoking now so feeling pretty good about things. bought a load of the e-lites 'deals' on Groupon which i have been using reasonably happily until now... then i bought one of their £140 refill packs, and this is where it started to go wrong. at least a couple appeared to be completely empty, and in general
all the rest seem to work for about a day/half a day depending in being in the pub or at home etc. and suddenly start to taste like really sour farts... 40 cigs my ....!!

ok, i see guys down the pub with these big black vaporiser things that they swear by, but i just want a ciggy like substitute that works well, tastes nice, and ideally can refill myself...

total noob, and yes, i could have spent a while searching the forums ( but it is 2am ).. any tips for a more enjoyable/economically viable option???

many thanks in advance.

James - the non smoker :)

Hi & Welcome to ECF! If it absolutely *must* be about cigarette-sized your best option is probably a KR808. I'm not sure what's available where you are but here in the USA there are a few reputable vendors (not sure if they ship overseas): Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | Wholesale Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarette | Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette they carry the Volt brand; Vapor4Life , another highly recommended brand, http://bloogplanet.com/ carrying the Bloog e-cigs. I'm sure there are others. I haven't personally used these but for the slim battery models they get good reviews. I would suggest staying with the manual, NOT automatic batteries, as the manuals are far less prone to failure and offer more control over vapor hits.

As to the larger models, the advantages include (much) longer battery life between charges, a larger array of cartomizer/atomizer options, and probably lots of other stuff that's not coming to my feeble mind just now. Please stick around, read all you can & I'm sure others more experienced & knowledgeable than I will be dropping by shortly to offer suggestions. Of the larger models you will doubtlessly get many suggestions for the eGo, KGO, Riva, E-Power, etc. Each of these has it's pros and cons. Then you'll see suggestions that may require you to take out a second mortgage on your home to finance the PV (or not, depending). Anyway, you'll quickly know what fits & what doesn't. Best of luck & Happy vaping! :vapor:

Did you tried contacting their customer service and complain quality is not what you were used to?
I had problems on my first order, lost in transit and then no reply from them for several days.
After I sent them a message making clear that I was unhappy they actually became very responsive and helpful.
Perhaps they will send you something in compensation.

Also, I have just ordered some eLiquid to try and recharge my E-lite cartomizers. Somebody in forum was suggesting that they might allow for 3-4 recharges before becoming useless.
If the problem with your batch of cartomizers is the eliquid, it might be a cheap way to solve it. I will post how it works as soon as I receive the eliquid, if that helps.

That taste is the taste of a carto running dry. At best a fully filled carto is about half a pack or so. "Tastes just like smoking" and "Equal to two packs of cigarettes" Are typically ways to lure smokers into trying an overpriced e-cig. But hey.....you're here. Most of us wouldn't be here if we weren't enticed by those ads so I can't hate them completely.

One of the first things you can do, is buy some juice. You can top off those carts real easy and use them a few more days and avoid the burnt taste at the end.
Welcome to ecf. You're in a better place now an we'll help you keep at it and not be so darned expensive.

So, I can re-fill e-lites carts then? i thought that couldn't be done..... where in UK can i get some good baccy flavoured juice to refill these... you mention they can only be refilled a couple of times, i guess this is due to the fibre in the canister just getting a bit manky??

i was expecting to have to buy a whole new lot of kit, but if i can just re-juice the e-lites that would be perfect...

c'mon guys, more excellent advice is required..

cheers James

stephd- is this thing going to embarrass my Mrs if i whip it out in the pub for a a couple of tokes though.. this is my dilemma??

Did the other guys you see using one of these seemed embarrassed?
I've only been at this for a few months and though my toys have gotten bigger and more resembling things left in the bedroom I've never given it any thought.

To me it's all better then sucking on a '...'.;)
Brings up such connotations here across the pond

Hello & welcome Jlowdo :)

Yes, you can refill the elite cartos & there are many good UK suppliers of e-liquid & far better e-cigs - have a look at this list -

ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK - Recommended & new suppliers (e-cig/juice sellers)

I can especially recommend Vape Escapes Grizwald juices & their Riva 510

So, Chrissie, what would you recommend ( your first link looks like a 3 hour read!! ).... ???? THE RIVA1100, plus what else would i need ? sorry for being a div, just want to get the best tape for my money, with the lowest refill costs.

having said that, the e-lites taste ok, for the first couple of hours at least.

cheers guys

Lol, my first link wouldn't take that long to read honest :D Plus more than worth checking out for the discount codes shown next to each supplier name :)

If you went for the Riva 1100 I linked to & asked for the atties to be swapped with cartomisers, I'm fairly certain you will get 10 cartomisers with the kit. So all you would need is some e-liquid to fill them with. At the moment, I'm using the Black Cat e-liquid from that same seller (see 3rd link) but also really like some of the tobacco juices from Paradise Vapes -
