Hi I'm new here so just looking for some general advice!

I've recently bought a kangertech k box mini using the mini sub tank.

I've just started building the rba and I'm getting .4 ohms and it's running on 2.5v is this a safe and acceptable thing to do?

All help is welcome but I'm not to clued up on all the technical jargon so the dummy's guild will do!

Thanks

Safe yes... acceptable? Depends on the person... for me, that wouldn't be enough wattage and the vape would probably be a little too cool. But if you're satisfied with the vape, then rock it man.

Good news is, the K box will protect you from doing anything too stupid. If the coil is shorted to ground, or if the ohms are too low, then it just won't fire and will give you an "Atomizer Error" message or something similar.

Welcome to the club man! You'll find all the help you'll ever need with your vape here at ECF!

Well, I'd say bump your wire gauge to 26 and wrap a 0.8 to 0.9 ohm coil and run it around 30W (you could probably go as high as 40W with no problems). That's going to increase your surface area and vaporize more juice at a time. Also, make sure that your airflow holes are wide open. More airflow increases the volume of the vapor and also cools the vape.

Not sure what that battery is... the Sony VTCs are green, but the VTC4 is 2100mAh and the VTC5 is 2600mAh...
Well, you can use the 24g, but you'll need more wraps to get it up to 0.5 or higher... not sure how much more room you have in the RBA though... As long as you've got good batteries 0.4 is perfectly safe on that mod. I do recommend the Sony VTCs. Just make sure to get them from a reputable vendor. I use Orbtronic

I'm unsure about that batter it's green but it 2500? It was supplied by the vendor who sold me the kit etc. I'm getting a good vape with nice flavour but it's running at .4ohms I'm not sure how many more wraps I can get in the rba deck with out the wire touching. I was just worried as I had read some people saying running at a sub ohm can put stress on the battery and cause it to blow up? How true that is o don't know hence me ending up here a little scared

If I had to take a S.W.A.G. at it, I'd say that your battery is likely a 20A battery. In which case you'd be perfectly safe with how you're running it now. Just pay attention to your device... if it begins to get hot, that'll be your first sign of a problem with the battery.

That being said, the wraps can touch one another and still be fine. They form an oxide layer that actually keeps them "separated", so they won't be shorting out to one another. Do a youtube search for "contact coils" and you'll see what I mean. I'm not trying to blow you off, mate, but you're not in any immediate danger. You are absolutely doing the right thing by playing it safe and asking questions.

Unfortunately, I don't have any reliable battery sources in the UK. Maybe @djsvapour could help us out here... he is one of the members here that lives in the UK and is quite knowledgeable on vape gear.

I'm really not sure on the battery it's just green and says 18650 on it with 3.7v 2500 mAh? Ah rubbish I've just bought a ten metre spool of the 24 the guy in the shop said it would give me .5? I'm just looking to try and reproduce the safe effect the premade coils produced that came with the rba

Pay attention to the battery;
Use IMR high drain batteries.
Nowadays there are also INR batteries that are supposed to be good also.

But don't use ICR batteries.

Without trying to sound rude I genuinely don't know the difference between IMR INR and ICR I'm a noob to all of this the last battery I had was and Eleaf istick so I'm new to all this but I was told the mod is that what it's called? Is a good quality one and safe to use? I have watched a few videos on YouTube and a lot of people using this specific rba were saying contact could don't work as well? But maybe that's something I can try next time I wrap a coil to see if it works for me.

All the help is massively appreciated it's put my mind at rest knowing that I probably won't lose my hand any time soon I just want nice clouds and to vape safe is that to much to ask?

Click on the link in my signature for Baditude's blog... he goes into a lot of detail to explain the different types of batteries. But a little basic terminology: Mod is the part that powers your vape... it contains a battery. Atomizer is the part that produces the vape... it contains the coil.

Not sure if raising or lowering your coil will make much difference... I try to position mine as close to the air holes as I can without it touching anything. That's how you'll get the most vapor production from whatever coil you are using.

Hmmmm interesting! The one I've made at the moment vapes pretty well it's just the heat I'm not so keen on. I like a nice cloud but prefer the smoother vape if that makes sense? I'll have another shot at making a could tomorrow after work trying the contact method and greater wraps to see if that makes a difference! I guess it's trial and error to begin with! As long as I know I'm not at risk of causing myself harm I'm happy to persevere! Really appreciate all the help and advice!

If all you want is to cool it down a bit, there are two things that are easy to try.
1. Open up the airflow control more if you can.
2. Lower the wattage a little bit more. If you're at 21W, then bump it down 1W at a time until you're happy... pretty much everything in vaping is a balance... you just have to find your own personal tipping point. :)

Other than that, yeah... rebuild tomorrow and try to squeeze in a few more wraps... then play with your wattage setting again, because different resistance will give a different result if all else is equal.

Hhhmmm... good question. Maybe an Old Skool 25R, the one with the data printed on the wrap. The old ones-- early 2015 and previous, if I remember-- had a green wrap. The blue wrap is recent. But the new ones don't show mAh.

Yeah, I thought Samsung used to be green as well... wasn't sure though. If he's got an older 25R, then he'd definitely be good to go in the K box... Those were 20A CDRs, right?
