I've just attempted what I think may be a contact coil, more wraps and I've achieved a .5ohm outcome! Good vapour not to sure on the flavour as of yet but that may be due to a fresh wick so time will tell as far as that one is concerned!

I may have to look into making juices in the future as I'm trying to get my head around the whole rba subject at the moment and wouldn't like to over complicate things to quickly! The main reason I've attempted the whole rba thing is to save some money and also produce a better end product as I found the premade horizontal sub ohm coils to be pretty shoddy if I'm honest! I also kinda like the whole hobby side of it too! I'm finding it quite an interesting thing to learn about if im honest!

Brilliant, mate! Glad that you were able to reach your desired resistance goal! You're right, give it some time... way more often than not, new wicks need a bit of break-in period. Especially cotton, for me.

You sound exactly like I did a while back... got super excited over the hobby side. I've just strolled a little farther down the path than you so far. You can definitely save money by making your own juice. You can also have both exquisite results and abysmal failures. Fortunately it doesn't cost you much to fail. I make 750ml of juice for less than $10 USD...

Yeah I'm pretty happy with the end result I think I've kinda found my groove in that sense as I now know what result I'm looking to achieve at the end of it all so that will help me a great deal in the future I think! Also now knowing that I've got the correct equipment for the job totally puts my mind at rest!

If that's the case then maybe I need to look into making my own in the very near future as I'll be spending a fortune on juice at the rate I'm going so it may be best to go down that path sooner rather than later! I like to think that it's going to be a lot better to make you're own in regards to person preference and I've staggered upon a vender that happens to sell all the relative stuff that would be needed to have a try!

Yep, it definitely gets easier the more you do it. And I understand your apprehension with the battery situation. It is good to know that the one you are using is up to the task at hand. Gets rid of a lot of stress.

If you want to delve into DIY sooner rather than later, I'd suggest just finding some recipes that sound good to you and follow them. You might tweak percentages a bit to suite your personal taste, but at least following someone else's work will get you into the swing of things. There are a ton of great recipes and friendly people in this thread: The Flavor Apprentice Thread

I gotta run for the day, but I'll check back in with you tomorrow. Take care!

So I've taken the plunge and bought a starter kit to make my own juice! Using Capella flavourings which are imported to the uk from the USA! Let's see how this one goes

Brilliant! I've not used Capella, but I have heard good things about a lot of their flavorings. You'll have to post back and let me know how it goes once you try your hand! :toast:

I shall indeed! I've gone with the blue raspberry cotton candy and sweet mango flavourings as a start! Let's see where I end up! I've been trying to find a reliable calculator that's comparable on my Mac in the uk but as of yet I've had no luck :( but thanks to a few helpful people on this forum I have the right instructions to go by and hopefully I shall be fairly successful

Hmmmm... steamengine has a juice calculator now, and I know there are a few others floating around in the web space... personally, I've never used one. I buy the nic in 100mg/ml so calculating percentage is really easy. If you want 10mg nic strength, then you make the nic concentrate 10% of your total mixture. Everything else is pretty much 'trial and error' when it comes to making up your own recipes... I will admit though, that blue raspberry cotton candy sounds pretty good. I'm working on coming up with a peach cotton candy using the TFA flavors that I have... still needs work though...

I think the gold starter kit I bought provides a 72mg nicotine liquid so I'm going to have to get out my calculator I think! But I'll look into the ones you've suggested before I start trying to crunch the numbers! Apparently all of the Capella flavours are reaaaaal good! I've also ordered the sweet mango too! I'm going to try and crack the single flavours before I start trying to create my own ones! You can buy a premade skittles flavour from the vendor that I use which shall definitely be on my wish list!

Just a little tip that I learned over in the DIY forum... single flavors often need a little extra to really bring out the flavor. Try adding a little vanilla, cream, and/or sweetener to really enhance the base flavor. I'd start out at around 2-3% of each to the mango (which I'd probably try at 10% and adjust from there)... at least, that has been my experience with the TFA flavors...

I'm not a massive fan of vanilla or cream flavours that's the only issue for me also I didn't get any sweetener with the gold starter kit if you check out the thealchemistscupboard.co.uk and go onto DIY kits I've got the gold starter kit so I don't think I'll have received any! What're your views on the whole steeping process also?

The amounts that I'm talking about adding aren't enough to actually taste in the final product. Think of them the same as adding a dash of salt to your meal. It's simply a flavor enhancer...

As for steeping, I follow the HFM method; that is High Flavor Mix... it allows for basically a 'shake and vape' juice. With the proper amount of flavoring, the juice comes out tasting great 'ATM' (At Time of Mix). TFA flavors seem to work best for this, I'm not sure about Cap's. Typically my total flavoring percentages come out to around 30% of the total juice quantity. Also, this tends to work best with fruity flavors... other flavors such as tobacco, chocolate, coffee, etc. tend to require some amount of steep time that varies from juice to juice.

I hope that makes some kind of sense to you... sometimes I'm not the best at explaining myself... :)

It does make total sense! I must be starting to learn it all! My aim to start with is to only make fruity flavours so that will do me for the start! Hopefully all my kit should arrive tomorrow! Fingers crossed! So I'll just need to get a good calculator and have a go! I'll have a look at the one you mentioned earlier after dinner! Maybe I need to look into ordering some more flavouring and sweetener next week to have some good results! I'm hoping I'll have a fairly good start though! I don't like failure at the best of times haha

Yeah, my first go-round with DIY was abysmal. I didn't know anything, didn't research anything, and used flavor concentrates from Totally Wicked. They did have some decent stuff, I just didn't know how to us it right... Apparently I can't get The alchemists cupboard page to load, but I'm sure it's a decent starter kit. As long as it gets you some empty bottles, a handful of useful flavorings, some VG/PG, nic, and measuring tools... you'll be all set. The TFA thread that I linked for you earlier has a TON of useful information for mixing... particularly look for any posts by member "Bill's Magic Vapor". He has an abundance of knowledge and is willing to share freely. Might even want to take a look at some of his blog posts on his profile here.

Well hopefully I've done enough research and managed to get enough advice from you guys here to mean that it should be quite successful! I'm hoping for a higher vg content so it will produce a denser cloud is that the right way to think? Vg = more vapour pg = throat hit? Oh that's strange maybe try this link,

DIY Mixing Starter Kit Gold

I'll head over there now and have a quick look and see what other knowledge I can soak up

Yep, VG is smoother and gives a more dense cloud. PG give mores throat hit and carries flavor better... also makes a lighter cloud.

That looks like a pretty good little starter kit... I bought all of my stuff separately and probably ended up paying more than I had to... but I got glass graduated cylinders, a bunch of syringes in various sizes, bottles, and at least a couple dozen flavors... with 500ml each of 100mg/ml nic (in VG base) and pure VG.

Ejuicemeup (Mac version). Works on my Mac, have not tried it on an iPhone or tablet.

Found this on another site and one of the posters graciously did the conversion. It is not supported by breaktrue (the creators of ejuicemeup) and it does not have all the recipes that came with the original version. I would give this person credit but ECF's software strips these links. If you have any problems with this link, "Start a Conversation" with me and I will give you the a link to the original thread on the other forum.

Here is the link to download the Mac version: https://mega.co.nz/#!pEoWGKzZ!u0g7OkoGPjXYoSZd53YtnELad5SL1CCIdyDIaDWAyhI
