Ok, so there's this talk of premixed fluid vs mixing yourself. I see that a premixed flavor of eliquid goes for about 9 bucks for 10ml. how long would that last? id probably go with about 18 mg/ml for nicotine strength. is it that much cheaper to mix yourself? or is it better to just buy 10ml bottles? for reference, im a 1.5PAD smoker.

How much do you want to bite off in a week? buy the premixed. Down the road the DIY juices are much cheaper, but you need nic base, PG, VG, flavorings, bottles, etc. etc. etc.

Definitely an eGo or Riva 510. They are basically the same unit and parts are interchangeable. I got a nice eGo case for my Riva at LibertyFlights for $12.97. It holds 2 assembled Rivas, a couple of 10ml bottles, and a couple of attys/cartos. No need for a PCC...two batts will get you through the longest day!
I wouldn't recommend getting a year's supply of anything until you get a good feel for what works best for you. Go small at first. A kit, a couple of extra attys, a box or 2 of cartos, and a few bottles of juice to start. You can do all that for about $100 or so.

lol yeah, i know, right? It's overwhelming how deep this rabbit hole goes. But, if the savings are enough, I'm inclined to eventually mix myself. Honestly, if it's only like 75% cheaper, then screw it, ill stick with premixed. But, at least, I'd like to know how much fluid I should order, since I can only buy online. So, with my initial purchase, I'd like to buy enough to carry me through a month, so I can save on shipping, and that can carry me through with enough time to figure out what my next purchase should be in terms of mixing vs premixed. So, in terms of blank cartomizers and fluids, how much should I buy with the starter kit to carry me through a month?

I vape about 60 - 70 ml's/week. The problem you will face is nobody can tell you what you will like for flavor, it is personal choice. I would get 6 or 7 10 ml bottles of flavors you think you might like and when you find one that suits you pull the trigger on a few 30ml bottles. You may find that after you are off analogs that your tastes will change and the flavors you like when you start this journey may not be the flavors you like 1 month from now.

Look at my earlier posts. I have been using The LR cartomizers and 4 have lasted me three weeks. Each has been filled more than 15 times. I only use them when I can not use a drip tip though (ie. Driving). I would order 2 packs of cartomizers since it is difficult to change flavors in those. Have some extra atomizers when you want to use the plastic cartridges. I would suggest using the cartridges to test out your juices and then fill a cartomizer with your favorite. You can pull the polyfill out of the cartridge and wash, pat dry and refill to test out another juice flavor. Standard Cartridges hold about 6 drops vs 20 on the LR mega cartomizers I suggested earlier.

If you buy an ego kit you should get 1 or 2 atomizers with it and maybe up to 5 cartridges to use with atomizers. On top of that 5-10 carto's will be more then enough to get you through the first month, on top of that order several different juices to figure out which flavors you like, if you haven't tried it yet don't order any big bottles bigger then 10ml, after you figure out which ones you like you can order the bigger size bottles. I ordered a few bottles from vaperite.com this week 3 of them I really like and will order the 20ml+ size bottles next time.

I see that a premixed flavor of eliquid goes for about 9 bucks for 10ml.

That is ridiculously over priced. I shoot for $0.50 per ml when buying premixed. Anything that cost more than that is not worth it.

Also, I'd suggest a Riva over an eGo. Essentially the same vaporizer from different manufacturers. The benefits to the Riva being that the kits are cheaper ($40 for a starter kit from Vapor Junction), the battery has a higher capacity (meaning it will last longer), and I and many others prefer the soft rubber switch on the Riva compared to the hard plastic switch on the eGo.

Ok cool, so I should def go with cartomizers eventually, but only one flavor per carto. Start with the atty/cartridge setup that comes with the starter kit, and buy like a few 10ml bottles for sampling purposes, along with a couple packs of cartos.

You really can't go wrong with the eGo. Just make sure it is a genuine eGo and not a clone. I suggest Cignot.com. Good customer service and only genuine eGo stuff.

I wouldn't say you should definitely go with cartomizers eventually. For now I plan to stay with the basic cartridges that can be refilled simply. Just drop 8 or 9 drops into it and vape away for an hour or so, depending on how heavy a user you are. Cartomizers can be a hassle to refill. Also, someone will come along soon and recommend getting a drip tip instead of cartomizers or cartridges. Then someone will recommend you just get a mod. I say, just stay with the basics at first.

You can definitely get juices for less than $9.00 for 10ml tho. Backwoodsbrew sells 10ml for $6.50. Freedomsmokeusa has 10ml for.....about 6 bucks if I remember correctly.

In addition, Freedomsmokeusa also sells 3ml samples for $2.25. Thats what I recommend. 10ml is too much juice for sampling. You will probably go thru about 3ml of juice a day for a moderate user. But if you buy 10ml at a time before you know what you like, you may end up wasting a lot of dough. Also, be sure to get several different nicotine strengths. I would suggest 12mg, 18mg, and 24mg to start.

And DIY mixing could be a plan you have for the future. Don't try to take on too much at first. Use the crawl, walk, run method.

For the juice prices I say it depends on what your going for, tobacco flavors I agree with you, other flavors not so much always, I've tried a bunch of different cheaper flavors but some of them just can't compare taste wise to some stuff I've paid $8-10 for like the Kona Cream and blueberry pancake.

The Riva seems like a quite solid device too from everything I've read about it.

jbsoum Welcome! I cannot address the eGo/Riva as I'm a straight KR808D-1 user. A 10ml bottle lasts me about 3.5 - 4 days and, as I work at home, I vape constantly. Before vaping I smoked 1.5 - 2 packs/day - now I average about 3ml a day. One cartomizer lasts me forever as I'm a penny pincher and refill, clean, and use again.

If you enjoy this new life of fresh air, energy, smells, and tastes even a tenth as much as I ... you'll be in a constant state of ecstasy.

definitely go for ego/riva. the pcc won't even matter because a batt will last all day, and if it doesn't, the spare definitely will. after using it once, the looks like a cigarette thing went out the window. i got mine from valuevapor, and it was pretty cheap...about $41 for a kit with 2 batts, one atty, a cone, chargers, and 5 carts. whatever you buy, make sure you search for coupon codes first. as far as juice goes, you can get a 50ml tobacco flavored from them for like 15 bucks.

I thought about the 510 but in the end i went with the KR808D-1. The reason I chose it was the ease of use and it's affordability. It's a two piece unit consisting of a battery and cartomizer. I have about a dozen or so different flavors that I refill my cartomizers with. So far my favorite flavor is Fire & Ice it's a cinnamon and artic menthol combo. For less than $50 you can get your feet wet with this unit.
