^^ I am like your husband when my wife takes me to a nice restaurant, hahaha, I'm a simple guy with simple taste :p

Interesting, I went to a local shop to price juices and check for coil availability. Luckily I can get GS air coils locally, not the cheapest thing in the world but we ordered with our initial on-line order so should be good for a while I think.

So, I'm talking with the shop owner and guy who was in their shopping and advised them what we bought, model, tank etc etc.

They both advised to avoid vaping with temp control and to stay in VW mode. I wonder why they advised this? I don't think I planned on using TC anyway and was going to stay with VW mode for a bit to get started.

Shop owner also advised to the clean the tank thoroughly. He confirmed the GS air tank will come dirty with machine oil, etc. Sounds like a pain but not a big deal to be honest.

The GS air tank comes with two 0.15 ohm coils, I can't remember the material but I believe it was for TC use. Luckily we ordered some 1.2 ohm coils as well with the order so I think it's best to switch out to these coils when I get the unit. What is the recommended range for a 1.2 coil in VW mode?

Thoughts?

I'd start as low as possible. 5-7 watts or so and inch it up slowly every few puffs. That way you shouldn't cough, choke or burn the new coil before you even get rolling with it.

I grabbed the silicone sleeve with my istick 40 when I bought it.
Probably 8 months to a year ago or more. The device still looks like new. 4 bucks well spent imo. Cheers.

Maybe the owner is old school and doesn't understand tc? There is a learning curve and some mods aren't that great, one really sucks, at it?
I dunno, something's I really like it with, others not so much. Depends on the atty to me, for flavor chasing I really like it!
At 1.2ohms, depending on the airflow of the tank, don't own a GS air, anything from 7-35 watts is a good range. I have a Kayfun V4 with a 1.4 ohm build I like around 25 watts. It's all personal taste, some days I can run that same build at 35w.
As said, start low, not sure I'd go down to 5w, but it might be a decent start, then up the wattage until you like it, or it tastes like crap. Once it tastes like crap turn it down! QUICKLY!
Get the gear, play with it, find what works for YOU! Your compadres may like a different setting, that's alright, this isn't a one size fits all thing. You may hate the GS tank, your buddies may love it, that's vaping!
Don't over think it, don't make it harder than it already is! Relax, try it, then worry about it!

Hope you all ordered different colors, wouldn't want to mix them up! All in all, a sophisticated mod. My 2nd was a cigalike with a different Tip color..

Yes, I would change the coils o 1.2 ohm. If you look closely at the coils they are all marked as to what ohm's they are.

And you did good. The istick 40 is a great unit and I love it with the gs air tanks. As far as colors of the mods, there are a variety of 'sleeves' that can be purchased for a few bucks. I recommend getting some because they protect the mod itself plus makes it easier to hold onto. Comes in a variety of colors and can be found at just about any vape shop on online, even ebay.

When I put on a fresh coil, before even hitting the power button do a dry toke. This helps to get juice into the coil.(if you look at the tank, you should see a couple of air bubbles start to rise to the top) Then I back the VW back down to around 8w or so and take a toke. Then raise it every couple of tokes to get it to where I really like it. This also helps the coil to start wicking correctly. Don't be surprised if you have different settings for different type of juices. The point is to find that 'sweet spot' where the juice tastes the best.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I immediately remove the 0.15 TC coils (Nickel) that come with GS tanks. For me, they do not work.
Sad, but true. I am not the only one.
I order the 1.2ohm in 5 packs from China (Fasttech).
They are now selling the new 4-hole versions and will be ordering 5 packs of those now.
I cannot recommend the 1.2ohm coil much above 16w and use them mainly at 14 or so.
They were never realistically a 30w coil. I'm afraid Eleaf are far too optimistic...or just liars.
The TC coil is a mystery to me. You do everything right then basically the temp control kicks in instantaneously and you get approx' a 5 watt vape. Totally rubbish.
Incidentally, the 'clone' coils are a good as useless. They burn at anything over 12w (1.5ohm)

In answer then, try the 1.2 ohm (original/authentic) coils at 10-15 watts.

Yes, compared to my local shops $14.99 for a 5 pack of coils, their price is pretty darn good, hence why we ordered extra coils with the initial order :)

We have shops asking $24 (equivalent) for 5 coils sold individually. They see it as one of the money-spinning items. People seem to get upset when I explain you can buy from China for under $10.
There's a balance to be struck.

Cheallaigh: Sorry to hear about your tank, how did that happen? Did the tank fall?

djsvapour: Wow $24 that's crazy, I guess $14.99 is not so bad. I do agree that shops seem to know what items that can jack up and which ones they can't. Mods and tanks in my area seem to be slightly high but again, I don't have a frame of reference. I can only compare to on-line prices, however, I do understand shops need to be able to generate profit.

I stopped by today to pick up a bottle of Naked Hawaiian POG. Smells really good, $22.99 for a 60mill bottle, not bad considering I paid $20 for a bottle of Cuttwood Mega Melons.

The place was packed, there was actually a line for people waiting to be juice. They are def making money hand over fist in my area.

he put the top on too tight... and decided to use a large set of pliers on the glass... I was "hun, wait don't use the pliers on the glass..." CRACK..."what was that crack?"... "you broke my replacement glass didn't you?!"... he said sorry and asked if I had really thrown the old one in the garbage already like he told me too... I of course didn't and was saving it as a temp emerg replacement... I had the new one for less than 24 hours and it was on the tank all of 5 mins... lmfao

btw it was me trying to fill it, after I had replaced the glass, when we went to unscrew the old one he had tightened the top at the same time.. it's a top fill of course.

Absolutely... stating that some online stores can sell at at price that local store double, even triple, is way too much.

I understand the overhead, the rent, salaries, etc. but when you see a mod that sells online for 40$ and it stores it's easily selling anywhere from 80 to 100$, that's a bit too much. I'd understand a 15-20$ difference but above that, it's just not right.

Liquids have been taking a drop in price lately, not everywhere, but I've seen lower prices, or larger bottles with a small difference in pricing (a 30ml bottle that sold for 30$, they now sell a 60ml for something like 40$).

With DIY taking off more and more with any vaper that's a bit above the basic level, and they start providing for friends and family... considering that it comes out to about 2-4$ per bottle (if not less) and adding that you control what's in it, compared to 15$+ per bottle that contains more sweeteners than actual flavour.

.... happens I guess ugh

BTW device arrived today.

So I setup the device, couldn't wait. Primed the coils by dropping a few drops on each air hole, filled the tank, took some dry hits with power off to help pull fluid into the coil, put on the device, set to 13 (seems to be a recommended wattage 13-14 watts) watts and voila, pretty darn good.

I did notice the drip tip got a little warm, not sure if that is normal. Also set the air flow holes to a semi restrictive setting to mimic a more analog like experience. If open to much way to air and little vapor.

Also locked the setting so I would not by accident jack it up and burn the coil.

I am leaving the device untouched until I get back to work Thursday so I can show my coworkers how to setup their mod.
