HI! I am a new vaporer (?) and am trying to DIY. I already made a huge mistake I think. I bought already mixed premade with nic at E-liq.com. However that's not the mistake. I can vape that base no problems. What I really messed up is I bought their flavors too. In the nice large 1oz size to boot. I think these are crap. I've tried them at 5% and 20% and both seems really awful. I did steep them..but not a lot....they are still in a drawer sitting... I am still playing with them...but it might not ever come to fruition from what I read on here about their flavors. I think it tastes like rubbing alcohol no matter what esp. at the end of the vape. Gross feeling on my tongue.

What I am chasing is a Mocha from my local tobacco shop...Midwest Vapors to be exact. It's a little sweet, chocolate coffee, and a bit of creaminess. Really other than a Dirty Horchata I got from my friend who has a vape shop it's really the only flavor that I've come to like....she is many states away so it's not like I can go visit. My tobacco shop does NOT really carry fancy/complex ones you guys talk about on here..so I may like cheesecake or some other kind of bakery type of vape. I like sweet, but not candy sweet. I am planning on picking up some stevia to sweeten and perhaps some other (marshmallow?) flavor to help get me to the sweetness I like? eh?

I've been looking at LoAnn's , Capella's, and The Flavor Apprentice (mostly that last one because they have a mocha, which claims not to be sweet on their site)

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to start to get this flavor? Or try some other bakery type items? WWYD? This isn't as easy as I was hoping...price is an issue, I've already felt like I threw money down the drain with the flavors I have. What can't I screw up? LOL.

Also I don't know about dripping, but it seems that would be great to know about so I can try different flavors quickly instead of trying to clean between them. I have Kangertech T3s tanks and a Kanger Evod battery. Please point me in the direction of how to get there too.

I do have some glass bottles so I can do the crockpot method to quicker steep...because it seems my flavors will need it? Is there a bakery/sweet dessert type that will not need much steeping???

Thanks in advance, that was a long read.

If you don't mind ordering from overseas, I've been mixing Inawera Kawa with Brandy Cocoa and it's a fabulous Cafe Mocha with just a hint of brandy. There are places in the States that have started to carry Inawera, but the Brandy Cocoa is their new-ish Shisha line and I don't think that's hit here yet. Here there are very good prices- Vapers Tek and he has a Supplier thread here, I've just asked if he will be carrying the Shisha.

eta~ he said yes and they'll be in next week sometime.

I try it stick with the kiss method ( keep it simple silly )
With each new flavor I will start with only .2% and have had them to be good ?others I have had to add more flavor .
I may have 25 10ml working and or stepping at one time and three 120ml of my fav .
Best wishes

Pouring money down the drain is definitely scary, but you will save so much money in the long run. Getting flavors right can take time and be tricky, but when you get it right you are paying pennies on the dollar. I can make a 30 ml bottle of juice for a buck. I am vaping 3 mg, but 12 mg would still only be $1.50. Besides, ordering new premixed flavors is also a crap shoot, but a far more costly crap shoot.

One key bit of advice- mix your test batches without nic. It is by far the most expensive ingredient, and that way if the juice is a waste you have wasted less money.

Check out Hoosier's blogs, especially on flavoring levels:

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

I don't know anything about the flavors you ordered, but I recently got cafe coffee from mt baker vapor. It was really good at 4%. They usually flavor at 15%. I didn't try to go higher than 4%, but I may experiment with the next batch.

Tell us what level nic you ordered in your premix. This should all be salvageable.

Here is what I use to test my flavors: SmartVapes Ecigs, Dripping Atomizers, Clearomizers, E Liquid, E Juice

Cute little things that are easy to clean and reuse. Still, I suggest getting more than just one.

You mentioned you like the Kanger T3s. Me too!. These folks have the replacement coils for the best price I have ever seen.

Hang in there. You can get there from here!

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to start to get this flavor?
I could, but the path to cloning an existing juice is the same path to countless ml's of not-the-existing-juice down the drain. If dumping stuff down the drain in a heedless quest to replicate one recipe is your primary desire, it starts with getting every flavor from every flavoring producer that has anything close to the flavors you taste in that juice and many months of experimentation. Or you might get lucky and hit it the first time?
Or try some other bakery type items?

Like blueberry muffins?

I'd go to Capella's and grab some flavorings there. Sweet Tangerine at the very least. Maybe some Cinnamon Danish Swirl and Blueberry so you can make a blueberry muffin too? Anything else there that looks good as long as it isn't chocolate.

What can't I screw up?
15% Capella's Sweet Tangerine and the remaining 85% being whatever PG, VG and Nicotine you'd like.

Also I don't know about dripping, but it seems that would be great to know about so I can try different flavors quickly instead of trying to clean between them.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/the-ocelot/4005-drip-drip-drip-sound-dripping.html Great blog on dripping. This blog has more comments than all of mine put together. Probably ranks higher in popularity too, which is deserving. (Us old timers learned about dripping right away because of the equipment we had so someone taking all that knowledge and putting into this great of a format is a wonderful thing to new vapers.)

Thank you everyone. Now to address everyone's comments. Yep I am that long winded ;).

glasseye- That does sound good. I would like to make a larger order from one vendor now though... shipping shipping shipping. LOL! I think I want to get a few different flavors....I am absolutely sure I was beginning to get vapor's tongue doing the same stuff over and over. Now I'm trying to vape something that I don't really like but tolerate (because I have it on hand), base, and my favorite mocha...I am going to the local store tomorrow to find some kind of red hot type thing. I know I said I don't like candy, but that dirty horchata was kinda like a red hot and it made for a nice change up.

Harlen- WOW that is way lower than me. The lowest I can go with drops is about 1% in the bottles I am making. I don't have a measurement for the drops....just the base. On my 'TO GET' list. And I always heard KISS was 'keep it simple stupid'. But thank you for not calling me stupid, much appreciated! :) Hmm, maybe I will see what I can do to lower this...I am out of bottles except the glass (also on that list).

Tidegirl- Unfortunately my nic is already in my base. I do have a coffee but I've been too chicken to even try it to be honest. The butterscotch, chocolate, and caramel mocha I have tasted like I slathered some fake food all over a gas pump nozzle and put my lips up to it to vape. Funny thing is these flavors are supposedly made with PG not alcohol so I am thinking its more to do with my HIGH concentrations...maybe even at 5%. Maybe this will get better in a few days? I pray so.

rowdyplace- I have 20mg of NIC. But that is too high...WHY you ask? Because my husband asked specifically for me to order higher level...and then decided he doesn't care for vaping. Although he has stopped smoking as well and it's fine. Problem is that I don't have anything non nic to add. I thought about going to Wal-Mart for VG...but I am working with a 70VG/30PG base now. I have a TSC right down the road where I can get PG for 25.00 but it's a GALLON and that seems like A LOT!!! WWYD?
About the dripping stuff, wow those are WAY cheaper than I thought, yea. And are those the right coils? Leery because they don't mention T3S...they look right but....? How is their shipping? If fast n cheap, I've got some a few people that will be very interested in that price! Please get back to me on that.

Hoosier- I've read a lot of your posts and parts of your blogs and find them very knowledgeable. I am not trying to make a perfect copy of that mocha, I just like it best of the dozen or so flavors I have tried. I just want something chocolate, coffee like, and creamy. I am by no means a good cook, and who the heck knows if that is what I am really tasting. I was a smoker for 22 years after all. I just want something similar...I actually think the original could be made better...as in to my tastes. ;) Blueberry muffin has no appeal to me....never liked them. Sweet Tangerine doesn't sound great either, but I do like tangerines and I like your advice so.....I am thinking of making an order to Capella's. Here are the flavors I am considering: Peanut Butter, NY cheesecake, Boston Crème Pie, the famous Vanilla Custard, Hot Cinnamon Candy (I know I said I don't like candy, but that is similar to what that Dirty Horchata I had was like) Marshmallow, Cappuccino, Raspberry (mostly to add to the other flavors), and the aforementioned Sweet Tangerine. If any of these are like EW! DON'T please let me know.

Thanks again for all the advice...it is much appreciated. Always willing to hear more!

I will probably sit on this decision for longer than most of you would...hate throwing money away (I had my cigarettes down to 7 dollars a week rolling, and that was 2 packs a day...yep) and already have blown my budget for the month last month! HA HA HA HA. Common around here I am sure. :D

Try taking the cap off the bottle for a day or 2. That will allow the alcohol and fumey nastiness to evaporate. (Yeah, I just made up that word.)

As for the PG, since you are probably going to be buying some more flavors, most places that sell them will also see PG. That way you can get it in the same order to save shipping and not have to buy a gallon.

I hate throwing money away too, but I am usually too impatient to wait. :D But take your time, get the flavors right. When you have 1 or 2 to go-to vapes, you can add in just a few flavors per order to expand your horizons without emptying your wallet. :)

Crumbcakes........where to order for Capella's? Directly from them or from ECIG Express, or?????? Just wanna know the consensus on this. Don't need huge bottle or anything I don't know what I like.
Thanks yet again!

I haven't ordered Capella's in quite some time. (I need to, they have very good flavors!) Last time I ordered they were the only ones selling their own. But if the prices is comparable at ECX, you could combine the order with the PG and any other supplies you need for 1 shipping charge. :)

Actually they are a little cheaper...and have the 2 day priority mail option...which once I make a decision I want it YESTERDAY....aren't most of like that? That's an excellent idea. They are out of Peanut Butter, but maybe they will be stocked when I do pull the trigger!

I remember thinking I'd never use that gallon of PG, but that was many gallons ago...

I usually dissuade new mixers from peanut butter, chocolate, and cherry. They just don't lend themselves to simple mixes typically. They can be great though and I have many of those flavors.

Well maybe I will rethink the peanut butter....it just had so many good review on here I thought I might like it.

Anyways, I woke up with tinnitus this morning so I am doing something wrong anyways. Either I don't like PG really or my nic is too high according to the threads I read on here. It's been 4 weeks today since I started vaping. It is in my right ear, which is the predominate side I vape on. I've always had ear problems, I should have know this would get me. I am glad it is just in the one ear, and it isn't ringing, just 'whooshing' and tunnel hearing.

So I did buy that little bottle of glycerin at Wal-Mart to bring my nic level down on the base I already have. I also went to the tobacco shop and got my mocha (which has no freaking flavor today, grrr, vapor's tongue too?) and a cinnamon, which is nothing like the horchata I had but it's better than nothing. They are 12mg. So I need to get my base of 20mg to about that level and see if this ear problem goes away.

PG is known to worsen and/or cause tinnitus, according to ENT doctors. Google for studies on PG, eardrops, tinnitus to find more info. There are a few of us who have had to reduce/eliminate PG after developing tinnitus or noticing increasing tinnitus.

Check Wizardlabs.us of plain pg and vg. They are not that expensive. Might be better to spend a little bit more and save it all...

Propylene Glycol USP

I am (as I type) using one of the coils from those guys... (Shipping was in the normal range...price and time.)

Also, the best place I have found to get the complete T3s atty is Kanger T3S

Careful...I bought some "Kangers" (off of eBay) but they did not have the logo etched on the base. They were identical. They fell apart in days... ONLY get the ones with the logo etched on them...

Good Luck!!

I wanted to update this thread a little bit.

I did get an OK chocolate and butterscotch from the e-liq at 10%. But it was only slight flavor and when I bumped it up, it seems horrible? Maybe I needed to steep more....So I moved on.

I ordered:

New York Cheesecake
Cappuccino
Sweet Tangerine
Boston Crème Pie
Vanilla Custard
Danish Cinnamon Swirl

I've mixed them all at 15% except the Cappuccino at 10%. I tried the Sweet Tangerine...um, not much flavor...maybe needs to sit a few days or something....it tasted crappy right after mixing now I just can't taste much. I never seem to be able to taste fruit that much.

And I tried the Danish Cinnamon Swirl. DING DING. Its really good. I might bump it up a bit but I am not sure. It is REALLY good. As good as my favorite vape, although I wouldn't do it as an ADV. I like cinnamon too but can't use it all day. I wasn't even originally going to try this flavor, thank you Hoosier.

Will update once I try some of the other flavors.
