Hello,

My husband and I want to quit smoking and decided to try vaping. We ordered a eGo-C Twist with a tank that has a 510 stainless SR cartomizer (bear with me with the lingo...this is all new to me), and a box of 5 cartomizers for my husband. It looks like a plastic tube with rubber washers on each end and the metal cartomizer through the middle of it. It has a tiny screw on the side of the tank for filling. The cartomizers are these skinny metal tubes with holes punched into the bottom of them.

I set the whole thing up started vaping with it and realized quick that we needed to order a second one for me. So ordered another one (same setup). Been vaping for about a week and a half with no issues. Two days ago my husband started vaping juice through his (nasty experience BTW), so we thought the carto needed to be changed. Changed it out, except I somehow lost the screw. Replaced the screw with one we had laying around the house. (not sure where it came from but it seemed to fit the hole), thought all was good at this point. Nope, yesterday afternoon he started vaping juice again. Changed the carto again, but this time I Googled the problem, and found out that he is flooding the carto somehow and also found your forum. I thought he may have been trying to vape the e-cig like he was smoking a regular cig. I saw the inhailation technique and had my husband read it over. He took the advice, and changed the way he was inhaling. But today it has happened again. He also noticed that when he draws on it, he can hear the juice snap, crackle and popping. I am having a hard time believing that out of a box of 5 cartos that 3 are bad. BTW we have had absolutely no issues at all with my set up and it is the same exact one as his.

I am not really sure what to do. What are we doing wrong? Would a new system be a better choice? Any help would be appreciated. I would post pics, but not sure how to do that, so I hope I gave a good enough description. We decided to do this to quit cigarettes, and have been cigarette free for a week and a half, so I know this will work. But my husband is frustrated and disappointed, and if we can figure this out soon I am afraid he will just go back to smoking again.

Can't find spell check so please excuse and spelling errors. :)

How many holes are punched in the bottom?

I use them with one hole punched. I find with two holes I get some flooding problems to. How many hole you need just depends on what works best for you. One hole tends to be nest for thinner juices, or higher pg ratio, two for 50\50, and three for thicker VG ratio juices. How you draw plays a roll in it to. For example, I use 50\50 yet one hole works beat for me. Its one of those danged trial and error things again.

Hope this helps.

If that replacement screw isn't sealing up the tank tightly you'll get flooding in your carto. It can happen too if the o-rings that seal the tube to the carto are cut or loose.
Basically, you want the carto tank to be sealed and airtight. That is what keeps your carto from flooding.
If you search the forums for cartomizer flooding you'll find lots of people that have been through what you're going through now and lots of tips for solving it.
Welcome to vaping and the ECF! Lots if good and helpful people here.

When you order your cartos is should give you an option of holes you want. But to be honest I do thing the fill hole is your problem. The flooding issues started after replacing the fill screw right ? I'd say order another fill screw from the site you got that tank at. Losing those screws is a very common hazard and you should be able to order another.

I'm thinking that 50/50 liquid is fairly thick, and two holes are probably necessary. That leaves the carto grommets or the fill hole as a weakness to check. You can test out the fill hole by replacing the screw with tape, covering the hole completely. If that solves it, a new screw may work. If the screw you substituted was a bit bigger or a different threading it may have stripped out the hole, making a bigger screw or a new tank necessary. Good luck!

Thank you all for your advice...I am beginning to think that it is the replacement screw also. I have already ordered another one and a box of cartos, hopefully it will be here tomorrow, because I only have one carto left and might be using it soon.

One more question...does anyone know if there is an actual store here in my area (Long Island, NY Suffolk County) that I could go in and get my stuff if I need something right away. I haven't been able to find one but thought maybe someone here would know.

Thanks again :)

I don't know about your area, but there a few online vendors that have good deals on 5 and 10 box Boge cartos, mix and match, color, size, resistance.

Boge Cartomizers Mix-and-Match 5 Pack Deal

Boge Mix'n'Match (5 Box)

These should keep you going for awhile. I have used both of these vendors with good results.

Surevapes ships for free on all orders over $10, Vapor Phoenix also has a ten pack deal.

There are other vendors with good deals, maybe someone will post them.

I seem to have the best luck with the Smoktech or Boge cartos. Try pushing the tank up so the bottom grommet or o ring either covers the hole in your carto or you can see the hole under your tank completely. That uses the juice inside your carto. If you find your carto is starting to run dry, push the tank back down into position and let liquid soak back into your carto again, then pull up your tank. Pain in the .... sometimes, but that is one way to continue to use a flighty cart. I know Boge cartos need a little time to break in. Invest in a carto punch or Dremel tool, see Pbusardo's YouTube video on slotting.

The problem is definitely the screw. I took 440BB's advice and took the screw out and put a piece of tape over the hole, took a q-tip and tried to soak up the juice that was accumulating at the top of the carto...now it seems to work perfectly. So need to get the replacement screw. Thanks so much...you all have been really helpful. :)
