Hi, all! I've been lurking for a little over a week, I just wanted to say hi and share my story. :)

I heard about vaping through some friends who used it to quit smoking, I tried it once when we were out, it wasn't bad, lol, but I was still a smoker. Then, the company I worked for was bought out and our department was let go. Three weeks at home, and I found a new job. One that was 8 hours a day, and NO smoking on the premises, NO actual "lunch breaks". So, I told my husband I needed to look into the whole vaping thing more, b/c that was going to drive me crazy. We went to the local vaping store. The owner is awesome! He flat out said, he is not there to sell you products, but he is there to explain every one you have questions about. He showed us the free tasting juice bar, I picked out papa smurf and RY4. (you got a free bottle of juice with the purchase of a starter kit), he then took us over to the starter kits, ran through each one. I picked one out, he took it all apart, and made sure I understood how to use it, fill it, charge it, etc. And.... off we went.

That was Saturday afternoon. Afterwards, I smoked two cigs that day. On Sunday I had one in the morning, and two in the evening. Monday I had two in the morning, and one in the evening. Tuesday, I had two in the morning, Wednesday, I had one. Friday I left the pack of cigs at home, that I had been carrying around.I actually panicked b/c I only had one battery and what if something happened to it??? So, I started looking online, and decided to go back to the vaping store, I wasn't saving a ton of money, and I'd rather support local businesses. I ended up getting a two pack starter kit, and my husband (who smoked about a carton a month) has since decided to use my first one.

Since then, I had one hit off my husband's cig on Saturday night. I was not impressed, lol.

I smoked over a pack a day for over 20 years. I've tried half-heartedly to quit a few times. I didn't actually WANT to quit. I enjoy smoking. I only wanted to get through the 8 hours I wouldn't be able to. I've not had one craving. Plus, I'm amazed at how much I can smell. My sister is a non-smoker and has been on me for years to quit. I texted her last week and told her my purse STINKS! She laughed, and a couple days later, offered me her coach purse, as a treat. But if I started smoking again, I had to give it back.

Sorry this is so long. :) But, for others debating it for whatever reason, I thought it would be good to put this out there. I told my husband when we were talking about a co-worker of his who was questioning him about them - tell her I didn't even WANT to quit. And now, I don't even WANT to smoke. He said if that's not a testimony, then he doesn't know what is. :)

Way to go and welcome!

You are at the right place. If you ever run into any problems, post your problem here and you will get help for sure, they helped me a lot. If you find yourself looking to purchase more items online, read or watch reviews of what you are interested in, that will help you avoid wasting money on items with known issues. Good Luck!

Congratulations tnbsmommy! Keep going, you can do it, no sweat! I smoked for over 40 years and thought there was no way I was going to be able to quit. I have an incurable disease so health wasn't a big issue for me anymore but I hated being chained to the cigarettes. When the weather got so brutally cold this winter my wife and I just couldn't take going outside anymore to smoke and went to the vape store to look. We had borrowed ones of my son's for a trip so we had tried it but weren't trying to quit. That was December and by January 13th I had completely quit smoking and haven't had one since. I KNOW that if I can do it then anybody can do it! The best part is my wife hasn't had a cigarette since before the 1st of the year. We also found our sense of smell come roaring back, things taste much more intense and I always thought I didn't ever want to be one of those whiney ex-smokers if I ever quit but I can't STAND to sit in an enclosed place where people are smoking or have smoked a lot in the past, never had a clue that it smelled so awful!! Good luck, welcome to the forum and keep on going! :toast::vapor:

My story is similar to yours. I was a 15 year pack a day smoker. Sort of wanted to quit for health reasons but I really enjoyed smoking. Got some cheap vaping gear just to see what the fuss was about. One week later I was a non smoker and have been for over a year.

Congrats on breaking free from tobacco and welcome to the cool kids club! :p

That's great! I wan't really planning on quitting either, but within 4 days I just didn't like cigarettes any more, and now I haven't smoked one for over 2 weeks. I'll admit I have had a few cravings, but I was able to ride them out with the e-cig, even though I have a new carton in the drawer, so they really weren't that strong. So it may not be completely easy, but it's a definite help.

Two batteries is definitely the way forward.

I'm just noticing my sense of smell coming back. Having been delighted that my car no longer smells of smoke, it turns out it actually does a little - though I'm sure that will clear soon enough. I've always enjoyed my food, but it's even better now. Good luck to you, and welcome to the forum.

Thank you!! :) I can definitely smell when people have been smoking. Even standing feet away from me. I can't believe I smelled like that. My in-laws don't smoke, and now I'm finding myself wondering if they are wondering if I quit. We never told them I did, well, that we did, and never smoked around them, but now I can tell they had to know. Yuck... We were over there last Sunday and my step son was there(he is in college so we don't see him much) he made the comment that I smell good. He's never said I stink, lol, but now I know I did.

I can still smell it in my car, going to be working on that very quickly!

Thanks again for the warm welcome! :)

You have come to the right place to share, almost everyone has a similar story to share, only the initial reason to start vaping might be different, however these testimonies never reach the authorities who think that e-cig is a hoax created by a multi-billion dollar industry, :p

Edit: Your local B&M owner sounds fabulous, wont mind giving a few dollars extra to such a person/business.....

I second that about the B&M owner.... That is a REAL businessman! :)
