As I pass do I give the ... or the crotch?

Anyone that gets the reference will probably get along with me great.

On a serious note I'm on my second go round with ecigs and I'm hoping to stick with it this time.

Looking forward to being a somewhat active member here but I'll probably lurk more than I post.

On to my question. So I've been sneaking puffs here and there on buses, subways and even in the bathroom at work sometimes. But what are generally accepted places to use the ecig? I still go outside generally because I don't want any hassle or problems.

In your experience o mighty ecig sages what's the best approach here?

The first rule of e-cig use is, you do not ask questions about e-cig use.

Ahem...But ya, general rule of thumb that I use is this: Would you boil water for tea in this place? If you wouldn't boil water, creating clouds of steam, then best not to use the e-cig. Outside is fine, but maybe not in the middle of a group of people.

There are million threads asking about vaping in public. I would personally just use common sense. I don't vape in crowds of people just as a courtesy. I have taken a few toots in a store if no one is around and in the bar but it isn't a question of if I can, but more if I should to be considerate and polite.

On another note, I too; too a vape-cation from vaping and one of the things that was important for me this time through was trying to find out why I quit vaping in the first place. For me, the answer was that everything required too much work with maintenance and upkeep so this time around, I have been focusing my purchases on what is the least amount of work to successfully vape with the best results. That answer could be different for you but it is a good thing to contemplate.

Firt, it is always ok to vape where smoking is allowed. This even helps to spread the word on vaping and hopefully encourage smokers to look into vaping as an alternative.

As far as vaping in public spaces, it's more of a courtesy to be considerate. Is it safe to vape anywhere? Yes, but should you? I'm able to vape at my desk at work, but before I even took my first toot, I asked my coworkers to see if it would bother them out of respect for them. I don't vape next to children, because I consider it unethical, not for health concerns.

As with anything in life, treat others with the respect and consideration you would like to receive in return. I use to be an A**HOLE and a very angry person, I am now a lot more chill and way happier in life.

In the current climate of confusion about vaping, being courteous and respectful will get us farther. If we push people around about our rights, we just push peoples opinions to the other side.

I vape "near" smoking spots so that, one, I don't stink, and two, I demonstrate a better way. Smokers will come up and ask questions. That is getting people to our side.

I always ask before vaping inside a public place... if it allowed awesome if not i can wait to go outside... not like I haven't had to do that before. Just follow what ever personal courtesy guidelines you have and it really shouldnt be a problem about offending people with your healthier lifestyle

Common sense is the greatest governor of where to do it. Don't be a jerk about and treat others who may not want it around them as you would want for yourself. I do vape indoors and in places but never publicly in an obnoxious way. If I'm at work or in a cafe I'll blow it quietly under the table. Never when meeting with people who don't know me well and never when talking face to face with someone.

just because you "can" doesn't mean you should! I work in a gas station and had one of those people in my store...and I was trying to be nice and not draw attention to him, just waited until he was within earshot and politely told him he couldn't vape in the store....
instead of being respectful, he walks away and takes another vape so I got loud enough that everyone in the store could hear me ;)
"But that's what it's made for so I can do it in doors (all cocky and snottily statement)....you sell the product but you don't exhort it (must have been his word of the day)"
Sir company policy, you can't vape inside...if I can't do it, then you can't do it (i said jest fully with a smile on my face)

at this point others in the store start laughing...yeah and they sell cigarettes and alcohol, doesn't mean you can drink and smoke in here either!

I tend not to vape indoors unless I know that it is allowed....otherwise I will sneak a vape in the bathroom :) or go outside to be courteous to everyone else....

while it isn't harmful second hand...I myself wouldn't want to walk through some else's plume...
it still carries moisture/bacteria and is the essence of sneezing or coughing onto someone...you wouldn't do that on purpose so why vape on someone? Just my :2c:

now if you're stuck somewhere for long period of time, I can understand sneaking a vape or two...but common just to run into a store for a few minutes? Unless said building owner is ok with vaping....but we have signs that even state vaping isn't allowed indoors :(

I use to work for a manufacturing company that allowed vaping inside in the break room. The plant manager had no problem with it as long as you were getting your work done. It was totally cool. You could even vape at your station. I got a lot of people to quit smoking. I was like the first vapor in this place. I wish more companies would allow this!

I agree with everyone who has said "use common sense" about where to vape and where not to vape. And, of course, follow all statutes regarding vaping. Anytime a vaper causes (or even SEEMS to be causing) a problem in public or at their workplace, he/she is giving non-vapers more reason to stand against us, which will quickly lead to unwarranted regulations and excessive taxation.

(In my experience, though, "common" sense isn't really all that common. It just sounds better to call it that than to say, "Just use rare sense.") :?:

I Find it comforting to find most everyone is like myself and use the rule of thumb spoken of a few times.
I myself find that as long as you are not obnoxious with the vapor production, no one really notices.
I vape on my college campus, and although no smoking is allowed, the security and administration wont take action unless a complaint is made.
so far, as long as you remain polite and courteous of others, you can vape as you see fit.
