New Member Question...

Hi:), Decided to quit smoking about 8 or 9 years of smoking and about to buy my first cheap setup. Getting a joyetech EGO starter kit and Vision V3 Stardust Clearomisers. Would like some advice on which E liquid to buy. Not sure if I should get VG, PG or 50/50 and also confused about nicotine strength and which brand e juice to buy. I smoke about 15 cigs a day.

Also, do I need to buy atomizers with the Vision Clearomisers ? What Ohm clearomiser should i get? Sorry for the dumb questions but I have no clue what parts I need:oops:.

I'm pretty new to this and when I started, I bought the same set up that you describe. The atomizers are built right into the clearomizers, making life a little bit easier. As for the nic liquid, I would recommend choosing a flavor that sounds appealing to you. I was a heavy smoker so I chose the high nic (24 mg) but you might want to start lower since you smoke less than a pack a day. The store where I bought my original gear (a Smoker's Choice nearby) also sold juice and I chose a vanilla flavor - it worked to get me started until I had time to learn more, now I buy most of my juices from MBV (Mt. Baker Vapor) because they have a great selection, a lot of flavors that I like and are really pretty cheap. I'm sure that some people with more experience will be along soon to offer you some really great advice! But in the meantime, welcome to ECF - you can't find a place with more information to help you out! :)

Hi and Welcome to ECF! Congrats on working towards the switch!

Definitely grab some extra heads if your pockets allow it for your clearos. You will need to replace them after 2-5 weeks/ish depending on liquids and how heavy you use them. You will want low resistance with a standard non variable ego style battery - so 1.8 Ohms.

As far as strength of liquid that varies by person. Probably 18 or 24 to start. You may be good with 12. The easiest thing to do is get a few small bottles of flavors that sound appealing (use the suppliers section or general e-liquid discussion here on the forum for reputable companies to go through). Order a varying assortment of nic strengths 12,18 and 24. Your body will tell you what is best.

As far as PG/VG - 50/50 is probably a safe starting point. :)

Good Luck and I hope this helps!

About the nicotine strength... I originally started at 6mg (smoking about 10 cigarettes a day), and have now moved up to 18. What I found was that I was constantly vaping and never feeling satisfied. My suggestion is that you start with 12 or 18, just to make sure that you feel satisfied and don't feel the need to go back to cigarettes.

As for PG/VG, 50/50 is probably a good place to start, but maybe buy some smaller samples (10mg bottles) of different PG/VG mixtures and different flavors to figure out what you like. My favourites are apple, chocolate, vanilla and mint (I add a bit of mint to almost everything I vape). Most newbies start off with cigarette-flavored eliquids, but there are a ton of options out there, so don't limit yourself to just these! As for the brand - again there are many out there, it's a bit of trial and error, and also depends on where you're buying it from. I have a shop down the street who I like, so I buy it mostly from there, I don't worry about the brand.

I love my lil local vapor store cause they have a rack of all their flavors set up in clearomizers for ya to kinda check out what ya like or don't. (and they supply these lil tip condoms so ya don't get John Doe's crud lol!) Just try some flavors and nic levels and see what ur body and taste buds like. I was a 1.5-2 pk analog user for almost 20yrs and started with the 24mg nic levels, but I just bought a bottle of 16mg nic Friday and haven't really noticed anything different. Well maybe vaping a tad more but that's about it. Also as your body starts kicking out all the trash analogs have left behind one of the things I noticed the most was my sense of smell and taste coming back so don't be surprised if a juice u love today tastes like poop tomorrow. I was using a Camel flavored juice but after a couple of weeks it was tasting solo ashy I couldn't smoke it anymore lol!

Hi, Deathnote, and congrats on deciding to abandon the smokes. You haven't smoked that long - now is the BEST time to quit - before you compromise your health!!

Your choice of starter setup sounds good. As for juice, what you think you'll like at this point may not be accurate at all - you'll just have to experiment. I was always a menthol smoker but don't care for it or anything similar to it in vaping. A lot of new vapors think they want some tobacco flavor and end up not liking it either. So try a variety of things. If you have a taste bar available to you, that would be the best thing. Otherwise - try different vendors and different flavors. Mt. Baker is good, I also like Mr. E's Liquids, and eJuiceMonkey has some delicious stuff, in my opinion!!

Good luck!!
