Hi All!
New member, just joined and trying to sort out my next purchase.
I'm looking to build myself a a modded vaporizer (probably the "Don") and can use a little help in deciding what to attach to it.

I can't seem to figure out what the difference is between a atomizer and a cartomizer...

and the difference sizes (510, 901, etc.)

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could brief me on the differences.
Thanks in advance!

With an atomizer you connect a cartridge to the top while holds the juice and feeds it to the atomizer. Atomizers are also used for direct dripping.
A cartomizer is a cartridge and atomizer in one. Theres filler in the cartomizer which you fill with juice and then that feeds the juice to the atty. Most people prefer cartomizers bc their consistant and easy to use.

The numbers are just refering to thread type. So if the PV has 510 threading, then you could use any 510 atomizer or cartomizer. 510 is the most popular thread type and there are many different options for a 510 PV

510 and 901 are not different sizes. They are different threadings

510 and 306 are compatible with 510 threading

Re configurations

battery + TANK atomizer + tank (Ego can use Ego-T tank atomizers with Ego-T tanks)

battery + atomizer + cartridge (ok for beginners - not how most prefer to vape)

sealed manual battery + atomizer + drip tip (the best way to test juices - since Ego has 510 threading recommend 510 atty w/ 510 drip tip or 306 atty with 306 drip tip)

battery + cartomizer (what most prefer for their favorite juices)

battery + cartomizer tank (a cartomizer pushes through the center of a big tank)

I meant I'm going to purchase one. So if I understand correctly, an atomizer does not hold any liquid? Would one purchase an atomizer, as opposed to a cartomizer, if planning to use a tank system?

I own a Don and am very happy with it because it's mechanical, is less prone to breaking down and is a workhorse. A 2 in 1 PV for at home or a smaller device for on the go. I'm vaping 3.7 on SmokTech 1.5 Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers. The cartos last me about 2+ weeks. My batteries are 18650 3.7 Volt 2400 mah. I have the 510 threading.
.
100 mah on single coil= 24 hrs vaping
100 mah on dual coil= 12 hours vaping.

Welcome Purebrad1,
the Don is a nice PV there are others out there as well .
Many choices these days !

I do own the megalodon in stainless steel and very happy with it, currently the US vendor electronicstix.com is out of stock of the SS and Aluminum i noticed this morning but you can go to site and click on the "notify me" and they will do that when they get more.

There is a variable volt module in the design stages for it as well.
