I know for me, and you may be completely differently.. I wasn't satisfied until I direct lung inhaled at 6mg which is much more vapor and for me, a bigger nicotine kick. I really struggled until I tried this method but then again, everyone is different.
That is exactly how I started vaping and wasn't trying to quit smoking. its just that i didn't have a need to smoke. It was so easy to quit

Hi All, new (as of now) to this site and on my 10th day of no cigs. Climbing up the walls. Really down today as i've spent the last 10 days doing way more exercise than normal, not smoked anything other than my new e-cig and have gained lbs. Know i'm doing the right thing but this makes it even harder to stay strong... Any advice gratefully received!

Hi Pippa welcome to ECF! Hang in there you’re doing good everything right! There’s a lot to learn about vaping. I found watching videos and reading tons of posts have really helped me. You may want to do the same thing. Itll definitely keep you busy. Just Keep It Simple & you can do it!

I started at 36mg and I had read here to not have my vaporizer in my line of sight. That I should go by physical urge so that I learn what "I" need. With the 36mg, I took about 4 draws an hour part. I came down to 24mg and just enjoyed vaping a bit more.

Also, in front of the TV, I wanted to vape more so I got lower Nic juices. But, with my morning coffee, I vape a touch more.

Using a vape system is a lot more flexible to an individual's needs. The cig-a-likes are less flexible I think.

Cigarettes are so black and white; regular or menthol. Vaping has so many directions to go...like the color scenes in the Wizard of Oz. Only your imagination constrains you. Orange Creamsickle and Key Lime Pie with a graham cracker crust is enjoyable as an after dinner desert on the porch.

Being diabetic, I avoid sweets for deserts and midnight munchies...but, tonight is my own Choco Glazed Donut. Flavor DIY is great. Just part of the land of Oz.

Tomorrow morning I have glazed Cinnabon rolls juice ready. Even the soft doughie flavor is noticeable. Great with coffee.

Good luck, reach out for the color in life.

FF.

Do keep in mind that there are other chemicals in cigarettes besides nicotine that cause withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Please just keep vaping. These symptoms will subside over time.

I know everyone is different and has his/her own opinion, but I knew that I couldn't dual use, too tempting. I wanted a clean break, and that's what I did. The first few days were, "Hey, I've not had a cigarette since I started vaping! How miraculous!" But after a week or so, I'd get some of those "EEEEEkkkk" moments when I thought I really needed a smoke. I just rode those out and vaped more. Eventually, they got fewer and farther between. Really wasn't that bad for me.

I'm 4 1/2 years smoke-free now, and YOU CAN BE TOO!!!!! It'll come, just hang in there.
Thanks so much - sounds like we are very similar - dual use would i am sure for me become a reversion to smoking and i'm not going through this first 11 days again :). It is indeed those EEEEEEkkkk moments that i'm finding hard - the first 6 days were so much easier than i'd envisaged that when the inevitable climbing up the wall stages hit i was just not expecting them. Anyway, got through yesterday and today is another day..... thanks so much for your encouragement - it really does help!

The prologic is a cigalike and there's only one strength offered (correct me if I'm wrong). It might not be the right cigalike for you if it's not satisfying your needs. Others got can try would be are Jul, generally well regarded, or Vuse which has a higher nic level as well. That is what I needed when I first stopped. You're already 10 days in which is great so try whatever you can to keep it going. As to the weight gain don't worry about it. It's the smoking that'll get you. The weight can be managed down the road. Good luck.
Thanks! Am going to get Vuse today and see if that helps! Advice much appreciated!

PippalL, unless cost is the deciding factor, I might consider the Juul for quitting, honestly. It's got some of the highest nicotine out there (and it is nic salts as well) so it may get you over the hump. Once you have been vaping a while and ready for more adjustable setups then you can look at tapering down from higher nic. I'd really recommend the Juul for a closed system to just about anyone trying to get over the quitting hump honestly, unless they were smoking 3 cigarettes a day or something.

About the "weight" it may not be "weight" at all. Ecigs can dehydrate you which can often lead to higher water and other liquid consumption, plus your body is detoxing from all kinds of things and that takes a bit of time. By all means exercise if it helps you (it often IS helpful) but don't do it in a "OMG I am going to gain 50 lbs if I don't," kind of fashion. I gained 10 lbs quitting and switching to vaping, but I really had to work at it, even though I've had periods of illness where I haven't exercised (I generally do, as part of my normal routine). People still ingesting nicotine tend to not get the "quitter gain" that can be seen at other times. Those were 10 very needed pounds, but I still had to eat more to achieve it.... Weighing yourself daily ATM is just going to be one more thing to drive you nuts, if you do it. Weigh yourself in a month and continue healthy eating and (reasonable) exercise. I'd be shocked if you weren't fine.

The only exception to this that I know of is that sometimes thyroid issues show themselves (there is some weird thing about smoking, vs vaping, which can somehow "mask" thyroid issues. If you find yourself cold, less energetic, and sort of lethargic, you might want to get a thyroid check after about a month, to see if it's still functioning optimally. If it isn't, treatment is pretty easy and if it is, well, at least you know for sure that everything is doing well.

Best of luck,

Anna

I never exercise unless you count working. At work they had fitness lady come out with a body composition analyzer. I had the highest metabolism of anyone there. Just standing on the machine it said I was burning 1976 calories a day. Not sure why mine is so much higher than others but dawned on me that I have been taking cinnamon capsules. Cinnamon is commonly used for diabetes

Cinnamon is great for the metabolism and yes, sometimes used in diabetes care. I use it instead of metformin (not because I am diabetic, but because of certain other meds that increase risk factors). Like many over the counter aids, it can be more powerful than expected, I would probably talk to a doctor about it just like any other "medication" if you wind up finding out vaping has slowed your metabolism some, but also, I really wouldn't highly expect that. I don't think I've ever seen one single post on this board about massive and unexpected weight gain.

I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying it's not likely. Overfocusing on an outcome can sometimes lead to an outcome.

Are you eating more? Of particular foods? I actually find the flavors I use (fruits and dessert flavors) keep me eating more protein and fruits and vegetables and less unhealthy stuff, really, overall.

In any case, I'm glad you've got a vaping start, and I hope whatever you go with gives you a little more satisfaction through the detox process. It is certainly true that dual using for a bit can be less painful, but I'd say as far as overall pain, there is something to be said for the "Don't look back and smoke the occasional cigarette, hence prolonging the detox process."

I think at one point my doc told me I'd have to gain over 300 lbs to be less healthy than I was as a smoker, but for a while they so desperately wanted me to quit/switch, well, they were saying a LOT of stuff....

You forgot sex.
Much better without the vasoconstriction effect of smoking (and easier to get when you don't stink!);)

I have diabetes that is why I really started taking it. Metformin I can't take because of side-effects. I was taking 2 different insulin shots for a total of 4 shots a day. Now I'm just taking 1 januvia pill a day the rest is just over the counter stuff. I've lost 80 lbs in total since I went back to work. I've lost a few lbs since quitting smoking but my weight goes up and down a few lbs then all of a sudden drops 5 lbs or more overnight. I really didn't take the cinnamon on a daily basis until recently and last time I went to doctor my A1C dropped a whole point. It was hell trying to get insurance to pay for the januvia. Lots of hoops to jump through because its so expensive. Well people shouldn't stress over their weight just stay active then you can eat without obsessing over calories

Alot of us started with the cig a likes and most moved up because they sensed that this vaping can work, but just not this particular one. I'm sure many successfully stopped smoking completely with those, but most had to move up to a more efficient device...although although cig a like got me interested, it wasn't until I moved up to a dedicated mod/ battery and tank, that I quit completely. ..istick 40 watt with a nautilus 2 will help immensely

I noticed that I got a little lethargic at first. I think I wasn't getting all of the energy chemicals that the tobacco companies wanted me to have.

And, I was keeping my vaporizer out my site/reach so I determined just what I needed each day.

Then I realized what amount of Nic I needed, it was a lot simpler. I just did the testing and learned how to have juices available. There is a bit of planning ahead.

I had a complete spare set-up in the car in case I broke mine and felt compelled to buy cigs. Just not what I wanted to happen.

I didn't have smell or taste, so department and peppermint were common for me. It just took to much time to gets those repaired. Nose, 3-4 weeks, taste...3-4 months .

Good luck!!
