Hi all,

I'm a 31 y.o. heavy smoker (smoking since I was 13) who lives in rainy Berlin and is fairly new to e-cigs - up 'till now I only used nasal snuff and once had the cheap-... "Health e-Cigarette" fake I bought from a flea market for about 10 bucks:
healt-e-cigarette-china-fake.jpg

I used it for a week, then it died on me, I threw it in the trash and kept smoking my daily 20-25 'real' cigarettes since I just thought all e-cigs are joke. Last few days, however, I'm coughing a lot, can't catch my breath and generally don't feel ok after a smoke (also perhaps because I had a fair amount of joints without filter this week..), but anyway, I found this forum, lurked for a while, saw few video reviews and decided to finally invest in a good device to finally rule e-cigs completely out.

I read a lot of topics here and got some initial impressions about brands, mods and liquids, so today I ordered a Joyetech™ eGo-C Type A brushed metal kit from Joyetech's website and also 30ml of 2.4% (24mg) 50/50 'Dark Vapour' juice from some other website since I was not sure if the kit will come with full tanks. I wait for the parcels on wednesday. So here are my few questions:

- is the leaking problem of the eGo-T solved in the newer eGo-C?
- how many charges before my factory 650 mAh batteries need to be changed and how many hours of heavy use can I expect from them?
- is the eGo-C such a good piece like some reviews claim or it's more like a mediocre e-cig?

Thanks for all info, guys. You look like a nice crowd, cheers.

firstly, welcome to ecf. secondly, i can tell you that life of battery goes by mah, so a 650mah battery would last about 6 hours, an 1100 mah about 11 hours...this is why you always want two batteries...one will always be ready. i have the joyetech c in both 1000 and 1300 mah. i dont know about the t leaking problems, i dont have one. have had no problems with my c...i love it. i use an ego ce5 clearomizer on it. it holds 1.9ml of juice, plenty! i think you picked a good start up....and glad you ordered juice, they come without. this is a great community, so if you have questions, you are in the right place...jump in and join us.

Ego -C type a tank system is...fiddly

THat is the kit I started with. I had big problems with leaks and clogging ->burnt out atomizers. I tried the silica replacement caps to fix the leaking but they really didn't help me. THe atomizers are rather expensive for the ego at about $5 US (sorry I have no idea what that cost is for you). After 2 weeks of frustration I bought myself a couple of CE 5 clearomizers (which fit on hte ego batterys which take 510 threading AND ego threading).

If you want to go a bit more money I would suggest a vivi nova or a kanger protank. THe advantage of the protank is it is glass so no worries about your liquid cracking the tank (citrus, banana, and cinnamon flavors tend to do that for many plastics).

Advantage of the CE5/Protank/Nova the atomizer heads are less than 2 dollars each and simple to either replace or rebuild.

You have a great set I just really was not happy with the tank system that comes with it.

As for battery logevity. I started vaping before easter and my ego-C batterys are still recharging and going strong.

Hi "Joye" - you are definitely not alone in your search... I love ECF! Here you can find anything you want to know! (good find - now for me to learn how to bookmark dif. subjects - grin!)

I started with a cheapo China made starter set for $15 shaped like analogs (old cigs) and tasteless! I then bought an Ego T starter set and have added things to it - 1st cartos were too small, went with clearomizers, then rebuildable clearomizers, then dif. 'tanks' (MT3 & have a Kanger evod coming). I also found my batteries running out quickly, so purchased 2, then 2 more, 650mAh 'twist' batteries (variable voltage) and LOVE them! Sometimes I crank them up to 4.2, other times I'm backing them off down to 3.8 - depends on the fluid I'm using (more VG?/higher - more PG?/lower). I suggest you get a lot of different sample size fluids from dif. companies, etc. to find the one(s) you like personally. Find those who sell the juices in different proportion mixes as well and try them. I'm now buying my fruit flavors and my tobacco ones in 0mg nic and just buying the nicotine separately so I can mix it to my 'downsizing' taste/choice amount.
I have been amazed at how easy it has been to lay the old smokes aside once I am within the good range of what I like to taste, suck for a puff, and size of the bats and tops, and carry around with me daily. Read a lot here, purchase smalllllll quantity until you've tested it, and then get the multiples (ml of juice, mg of nicotine, # of rebuildable parts, # of batteries, etc.). Then search for the best prices from the best quality/knowledge dealers. that's my 2 cents worth (grin) p.s. ALL the brands/dealers say 'this one is the latest and greatest' !! so, ask the users of them for the straight scoop, too! (I apologize if I used too many of our slang phrases.)

your question: my first 650 mah battery (twist) got 'topped off' a dozen times or so before I read not to do this - let it go dead before you recharge it. But it is still working fine, just not lasting as long (6 hrs max. now) as my other 3 are (24-36 hrs before their next charge).

view my choices in devices (descriptions and photos) in album: NancyB's Photos here on ECF - for size comparisons, etc.

Also, are propylene glycol or vegetable glycerine juices less harmfull for the lungs? I heard VGs?

I don't think either one is more harmfull than the other. I won't say it's harmless because I don't know that to be true. PG is a thinner liquid and gives more throat hit and VG is much thicker and expresses flavor better IMO. I've never had a pure PG. I do know pure VG will gunk up your atty/carto/clearo/Ect much faster than mixed liquid. Most of what I vape is 50/50.

i bought an ego kit over a month ago. works great for me. my kit came with 900 mah batteries. i now use kanger T-3 tanks, i just got a MT-3 (EVOD) and love them. the 2 are almost the same! only the mt3 has a cover over it.
dont over charge your batteries< they wont last as long...
Try to find a local Vape store. most of them will let you try the juice before you buy.
always buy small bottles of juices that you arent familiar with. i have given several bottles away. that great taste may deminish after a full day of vaping..

I have a question somewhat pertaining to this thread.....I use the ego withe the clearomizer 1.6 ml tanks. I have noticed that some I have purchased have "short" wicks and some have "longer" wicks. Any advantage or disadvantage....?? Being they are disposable, and I am a noobie, only vaping a couple weeks, the clearomizers seem to only last a couple weeks before it loses it's "sizzle" and i start with a new one. Also, is this normal, a couple weeks per tank? I hope my terminology here is understandable as I said, I am a new vapor!!

Hey, hello again from Germany.

Guys, to be honest I really thought this whole e-cig mania is a waste of time and money and I will just continue smoking after fooling around with the PV for a day, but I'M 100% CLEAN FOR THREE DAYS NOW!!!! I still can't believe it!!!! My eGo-C works like charm except for it does leak a bit under the atomiser head, so I skipped the silicone caps and just ordered the Kangertech ProTank 2.5 Ohm and a pack of 5 spare ProTank 2.5 Ohm coils. So here are my next few questions:

- Do you think the ProTank is really, really leak-proof?
- Must I really change the standard 650 mAh batteries? I get around ~5 hours heavy use and I don't need a long stick or a fat dildo in my pocket..
- Should I be woried about the glass tank itself or only the coils need to be occasionaly changed? Will this glassy thingy really last forever?

Thank you all for spreading the word on e-cigs!!

Way to go JT!

I don't see any reason why you would need to change your batteries as long as they continue to work. The protank is going to look a bit big perched up there on the top but it should work just fine. If you find that this combination is not performing great for you, you could think about getting some lower ohm atomizer heads. But try it out first.

The glassy thing is forever, unless, you drop it.

Hi Leo! Well, the batteries are still ok, I always carry my charger in my backpack and I went for the 2.5 Ohm version, so I think 650 mAh is just about the right size to carry around. And yes, the ProTank is noticeably fatter than the battery, but at least the ring will make it look like a part of it since my kit is also metal-ish. It'll look like this...

protank_on_an_ego-c_650mah.jpg

...which I find reasonable.
The only downside would be that the tip looks a bit like a nipple ROFL
Oh, and the fact you cant chew a steel tip.

So anyone with impressions from the ProTank? Leaks?

Hey, thanks all! This Kanger Protank looks sooo nice... We'll see, let me first get my hands on the kit on wednesday. Do you think the ego-c will do the job well enough without any upgrades for the time being?

I started similar as you with some cheap small "cig like" piece of sh.. After a week or so, I've ordered eGo-C set, and all I could say is that I hardly recommend it for beginners. After over a year my original 650 mAh batteries are still up and running. You need only juice, and you are good for at least couple of months. Meanwhile you can search through tremendous amount of information on this forum and elsewhere. Yes, I also had some leaking issues with original eGo-C atomizers, but after I started to draw longer and gently, it just stop leaking. Good luck and congrats !!

Hi Joyetech,
I quit smoking in June with the Joyetech ego-c and just bought in April the German made Bulli-Smoker A2-T/TM, which are similar to the "C" only rebuildable.
Anything that holds liquid can leak. You can have a drop on the battery or a flood. I was lucky with my "C", and never had any leaking. And this Bulli A2-T that I have been using since April 12th is working great, with no leaks.
It sounds like your leak is internal?, but its working for you, so keep at it :toast:

Hi Zbeast08,
Just make sure the short wick is wet and you'll be fine - you may even notice more flavor with short wicks.
For what it costs compared to smoking - a couple weeks isn't bad. You didn't say, but if you don't clean and dry-burn the coil you may not be getting the maximum life. Good luck.

I've still got my ego t and ego c twist both about a year or so old and still going strong benefit of a ego is most tank sand attys will work fine with them so even if you don't like the set up that comes with you can experiment to what you like everything that my provari runs has run comparatively well on my ego twist can't go wrong

Hi again, just to share I also ordered my first herby/fruity e-liquids - 15 grams of 18mg banana and 15 grams of 18mg spearmint. In four days I almost went through my first (out of three) 10ml bottle of 24mg dark vapour liquid that resembles smoking tobacco in a way, but I wanna get rid off this addiction totally so I decided to go for some lower nic fruity tastes. My plan: 30 grams @ 24mg, then 30 grams @ 18mg and so on all the way down to 0mg.. So how long do you think until it'll be satisfying for a heavy smoker like me to reach the point of smoking 0mg fruitties only socially? Is it possible at all?
