Hello!

I just purchased (and have not received) my first setup. I wanted to get some feedback from the community about equipment and what I should be doing, since there is a lot of possible combinations and a lot to know about this.

I have been a smoker (off and on) for about 15 years. I quit for my babies, while pregnant, but would pick it up again months after when I hit a stressful situation. I'm really hoping this will keep me off cigarettes. I have a ridiculous and uncompromising love affair with nicotine. I don't consider myself a heavy smoker since I average 1 pack every 2-3 days. I hate the smell, I hate stinking and have invested a lot in lotions, sprays, mints, gum, etc. So if that's enough about me, here's what I ordered!

KGO Starter Kit
KGO Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes
I selected the Swiss Almond sample flavor.

Stainless Steel Drip Tip
Metal Drip Tips | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes

Assorted Sample Juices - I selected 12mg strength at 50/50.

Jezebel

So my questions:

Is this start up going to be sufficient based on my reported usage? It seems like there are a million websites, videos and stores...I tried shopping around but after awhile it all looks the same.

How long does the juice last?
Is there any general consensus on conversion from mL to cigarette?
Should I really be investing in more juice, different tanks, bigger batteries?

What is the cleanup like for this? I think I got only 2 cartomizers, so does that mean I need to use up what is in each one before I can put in a new flavor? Are they disposable? How many should I have on hand?

I know this is probably a rough question, but what juices do you recommend and from where?

I know there are probably answers to these questions somewhere in this forum, but it's huge and intimidating with the jargon and links around everywhere. Basically, talk to me as you would an idiot child, but be gentle.

Thanks!

I think the kit is a good start. Eventually you may want to upgrade the battery to a variable voltage (like an ego twist), and upgrade the tanks to something like a Kanger mini protank 2 (my favorite setup in ego twist with protank2 mini). The variable voltage will allow you to sample juices at higher or lower voltage, thus giving you different amounts of throat hit and or flavor. This also helps since some liquids are thicker or thinner than others. After that theres a ton of different upgrades/mods/etc..

There are videos all over youtube about cleaning, modding, etc.

I am biased, but prefer Mr-E-Liquid juice, as I have liked everything from them.

I would guess 1 or 2 ml per day for you, being such a light smoker.

Juice flavors will be extremely subjective; what one person likes another will hate. You did well to purchase a selection of sampler flavors. 12mg is a good starting spot for your history as a smoker. Most vapors consume about 3 ml of juice daily, your vaping habits may vary.

I frequently order juice from Virgin Vapor. I particularly like the Kona Velvet Milkshake and some of the fruit flavors.

The batteries can be considered a generic or knock-off brand of a Joytech Ego battery. Should be something that will last 4 - 8 months or longer.

The juice attachment are generic CE4 clearomizers, not cartomizers. Just misnamed by Virgin Vapors. Expect these to last 3 - 4 weeks or longer before needing to be replaced. There are a variety of other clearomizers you can use on your eGo batteries should you not care for the CE4 clearos. Kanger Evods, Innokin iClear 16, and Vision Mini Nova tanks come to mind. You can research all of these on YouTube.
Is It a Carto, a Tank, or What?

Hi, and Welcome to ECF!

As for your order, it looks like a fairly reasonable starter kit, and should serve you well. The one piece that you may have trouble with is the Stainless Steel drip tip. Many people, myself included, find that they don't like the metal in their mouths. In some cases with metal drip tips, I have gotten the "tin can" effect, that is the taste of the metal gets into the flavor of my juice. Kind of like drinking cheap beer from an even cheaper can. Will you need bigger batteries? Maybe, someday, but only time will help you decide, many folks love the kits they start with and never get anything bigger.

Juice on the other hand is a very subjective question. Everyone has different tastes, and not everyone likes the same juices. You have a selection of flavors to try, so start there and see how you like them. If you don't like them, let them sit and "steep" for a couple weeks and try again. Steeping can drastically alter the flavor of juice, so don't give up on a particular flavor right away.

How much you will use is a totally different question. It completely depends on your vaping habits. Many (most?) new vapers tend to vape much more than they smoked, at least in the beginning when it is new. Once you get past this and your vaping habit stabilizes, you will be better able to judge how much juice you will go through much easier.

Regarding where to get good juices, again, very subjective. Many people like Mt. Baker Vapors, Mr. E Liquid, Mountain Oak Vapors, and many others. The best recommendation I can give you is to read the reviews on Spinfuel. They have never steered me wrong, but again, this is very subjective.

As to comparing cigarettes to vaping, it is an apples to oranges comparison. There really is no good way to compare the two as they are NOT equivalent.

With only having 2 tanks, yes, you will need more of them. How many you will need, again, depends on you and how you vape. Yes, you will need to use them up and clean them before changing flavors. Especially between dis-similar flavors at the very least, for example, going from a tobacco flavor to a fruit flavor. If you vape any kind of menthol flavor, just plan on keeping that particular taste for all your menthols, it is very difficult to clean the menthol flavor out of tanks like yours.

HTH!

That drip tip won't work for the CE4 clearomizer you have included in the kit. The CE4 takes a threaded drip tip and unless I am mistaken, the drip tip you purchased doesn't have a thread.
You'll only be able to use the included mouthpiece for now until you get another clearomizer.

Welcome to the forum Meggiewegs, you've already gotten some great advice in the thread, so good luck on your journey, pull up a chair and make some new friends.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention about the drip tip you purchased. It won't fit on those clearomizers. It's to be used on other juice attachments that accept different drip tips, which the CE4's you bought won't. They come with their own proprietary tips.

I'm sure down the road you'll purchase a juice attachment that can use the drip tip: drip atomizers, Kanger Protank 3, cartomizers, cartotanks.

As a starting point you is fine. It's a two battery kit - which is the most basic, important thing to keep you vaping continuously.

How long does the juice last?
Is there any general consensus on conversion from mL to cigarette?
Should I really be investing in more juice, different tanks, bigger batteries?

Sigh... everyone seems to want to know that when they start. There is no easy way to say how much liquid is enough or any straightforward was to equate nicotine in a liquid to X number of smokes per day. Some people vape a lot more than other people. If you didn't get the nic level right and it's too low you would vape more than with a higher nic level to try and compensate. Stuff like that.

Not sure what sizes you bought in those liquids though - you didn't say.

Right now - the deed is done. Since you ordered it all at the same nic level STOP! until you get this stuff first. Try it and see if the nic level is either too high or too low for your needs. (Too low - excessive chain vaping and strong cravings. Too high - possibly headaches, palpitations and stuff like that.) That would be the first thing to ascertain before you buy more liquids.

Lol - Annette has a very confoosed description on the sight about stuff in that kit. At one point she calls what you have "caromizers". They are clearomizers. They are refillable and cleanable, but the coil which creates your vape will get past a point of working well and the device will need to be replaced.

What is the cleanup like for this? I think I got only 2 cartomizers, so does that mean I need to use up what is in each one before I can put in a new flavor? Are they disposable? How many should I have on hand?

Started to answer that above. There's no picture on the site regarding which clearos these are but in general a CE4 type is limited to rinsing out and that's about it. If you want to change liquids before the clearo is empty you can just pour what remains back into the bottle.

They are disposable. At least the type you are probably getting.

Try that version first. That will give you a better idea what to get next. Look into the glass ProTank 2 or ProTank Mini 2. Being the tank is glass on these (your clearos in the kit are plastic) you won't have to be concerned about certain flavorings cracking plastic tanks. ProTanks are also one of the easier things for a new user to figure out and maintain.

The drip tip right now is irrelevant. I can see why you bought one based on the messed up description of what was in the kit. But long term a drip tip probably won't go to waste either.

I know this is probably a rough question, but what juices do you recommend and from where?

Ohhh... tons! Lol But let's hurry up and wait - try what you have coming first to figure out likes/dislikes and where to go from there. Big newbie mistake: Blowing tons on liquids too fast where they get something wrong and end up with a pile of stuff they either don't like or can't vape.

I know there are probably answers to these questions somewhere in this forum, but it's huge and intimidating with the jargon and links around everywhere. Basically, talk to me as you would an idiot child, but be gentle.

Thanks!

Mind. Blown.

Wow, lots of great info guys. Thanks so much.

The video link
It all seems so abstract right now because I have no physical medium to experiment with! I'm so excited!

I looked online and there are also some shops nearby that say they let you test juices and stuff, I might go check it out...so afraid to be new at something. LOL

Going and trying the juices at one of them shops is a great idea, it can save you a lot of $$$$ by trial and error ordering on the internet.

Meggiewegs...YES go to a local vape shop if you can!!! It will be soooooo helpful!!
I have been vaping for a few months(and love it!!) and I STILL don't really understand all of the equipment! I ordered a great set up thru Halo, but started with the tiny starter kit, upgraded to a larger battery and then upgraded AGAIN!! I would have had NO idea what I was doing had I just ordered online! you wont be sorry, and then as you learn the basics and get a feel for it, you'll know what you want or need...This forum TOTALLY helps!!

Welcome to ECF! You have great answers already so I won't add much. Great idea to go to a local shop. They can show you what they have in stock and how it works besides trying their juices. It will be a good investment to look at protanks as suggested. The shop can show you how to change out the coils which is easy. Best of luck to you!

So is a ProTank more reusable than the Clearomizers? You just replace the coils when they go bad? Is it more wise to invest in multiple ProTanks than Clearomizers?
Yes, CE4 clearos are disposable - the coil heads in these are not replaceable. Rhese are sort of old technology.

Nearly all of the more recent clearos made now are rebuildable, meaning the coil heads can be replaced when they stop working or their performance drops in quality and simple cleaning doesn't work.

Kanger: T4, Evod, Kanger mini and Kanger 3

Innokin: iClear 16 and 30

Vision: Vivi Nova and Mini Vivi Nova

All of the above clearomizers are rebuildable. Replace the coil heads as needed and continue using the original tank.

Innokin iClear 16 cleaning and coil replacement

Kanger Mini Protank coil replacement

Vision Mini Vivi Nova
