Ok so I bought a smoketip starter kit from what I've read so far its a 808d-1 two piece model 6 standard carts and the 10pack variety pack of carts well ordered I should say it will be here tomorrow morning I hope (fingers crossed) and I ordered a 5 5ml variety pack from wordup (still debating on refilling the carts or trying to find diy carts) Wanted to see what to expect from the device I've seen a lot of reviews on it and seen it pop up on the forums a few times as peoples first pv. I just don't want to get my hopes up on people over-hyping the device and the carts. I've seen a few of Doctor Vapor's youtube videos on refilling and cleaning them. SO.... in short is it worth the 59.99$ usd I spent on it and is it as easy to clean and reuse the carts as everybody makes it seem or look?

Oh, and I'm new to the forums and vaping.

Welcome Shead! I have a SmokeTip and I really like it. I use the 16mg tobacco flavored cartridges. I go through one cartridge per day -which is pretty good considering I was a 2pk a day smoker - now tobacco free for past two months.
SmokeTip really has good prices on cartridges and their cartridges really are equivalent to 1 to 1.5 pks of reg. cigs. I don't drip and refill my cartridges - yet -cuz I don't want the hassle and one cart a day at those prices is cheap to me. I also like their Free Shipping and customer service thus far has been excellent. Remember to follow their
"battery maintenance" advice which is on their web page. Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

I forgot to mention - even though I am very new myself - I found that what the veterans say is very true - there is a learning curve to vaping and what I found is that if I want good vapor on exhale I need to take the hit just past the throat hit, into the top of my lung, then exhale. I find that if I inhale deep into my lungs, I don't exhale much vapor. Anyway this forum is a great source for the info you need and again best of luck and Happy Vaping.

I also started with my first kit (KR808D-1) from SmokeTip.com and quit instantly with it. I found it to be a very reliable and easy-to-use unit that I had no problems with at all. I also refilled my own cartomizers using the examples shown on YouTube and had no problems doing it.

A couple of suggestions: Do not screw the cartomizer on tight, just lightly until it makes contact with the battery to allow as much airflow as possible between the two (batt and carto). My unit came with the auto-batteries and I quickly learned that I got the very best vape by vaping as lightly as I could but only enough to light up the LED on the end of the batt. I would take this light vape for about 2 seconds to allow the atty time to heat up a bit, then stop for 1 second, then a nice easy vape for 4-5 seconds. I always found that if I vaped any harder at all it was never as good.

Also, these cartomizers were not made or designed to be refilled over and over, however you will be able to do it without any trouble and some have refilled them several dozen times. But I do not recommend washing them out only because it never worked for me. They were never much good after washing or rinsing them out in any way. Once you've refilled a carto many times it will let you know when it's run its course and time for a new one.

After my first week of vaping I ordered and still use my Joye 510 kit from Cignot.com (only $35 + $5 shipping) and I've been in vaping heaven ever since.

Good Luck with your new SmokeTip unit!

I plan on it Skyler... But I've come to a bit of an issue I don't want to O.D. on the 24mg carts I ordered so I might have to try my hand at some 0mg mixtures or "cutting" the juice I ordered. There was a recipe for watermelon that looked good just need to find somewhere around me that sells the PG and VG and non-oilbased flavorings as for sleeping yah right I've got a 3 year old that drove me up the wall today so sleep is a must :p

Smart move. You try not to over load new people with so much information but vaping zero to 8mgs at night is a good move. I sometimes forget whats in the carts and just keep puffing on it all night. Then I stare at the ceiling for an hour before I can fall asleep.

Please do update us when you get a moment from your little 3 yr old.

Well I used the KR8 all day long killed 3 batteries tasted the multi-pack of carts and only found a few I actually liked (fruity ftw!) Had an analog just now and it tasted funky so I threw it. Ordered a Joye-510 a couple of hours ago I have to say I'm absolutely hooked now. The carts are smother tastier than analog I've ever had aside from "camel exotics ismer stingers" but they went extinct years ago. Need to do more experimenting on the flavors now to find one that suits vaping all day long

Hi Shead and welcome to the forum. I think you'll really like the 510. I have one and I love it. Although after only a month the regular batteries don't last that long any more. Luckliy I ordered a usb passthru so I can use the 510 at my computer and not have to worry about always charging the batteries. I also ordered some Mega 510 batteries from HealthCabin.net, for a good price, for when I'm not at a computer I'll have much better battery life. Good luck!

I haven't ordered a passthru yet but I'm thinking about it I'm only away from my house for a couple hours a day so I'm thinking a KR8 passthru is a better idea and use the 510/KR8 when I'm out and about Cause honestly I don't want to have to buy attys every other couple days because I killed one on the 510 sitting at home vaping :p
