Currently working on getting it painted I should have most of the painting finished up tomorrow. I do have a problem though and that is with the mouth piece. I painted it with plasti dip to seal it and of course that works great I am worried that it might be toxic even though it doesn't have lead it does not smell good and I wouldn't want to be vaping on it with that smell and taste. Keep in mind I used this knowing that it is harmless when cured but I am having my doubts about having it in my mouth.

I am thinking of using polymer clay to make a new mouth piece or trying to find something from a different pipe that would fit this one but the odds of finding something that fits right is slim.

Ideas are welcome in this area. Oh and don't worry pics are coming tomorrow.

Alright time for some pictures. Again sorry about the quality.

This first picture shows the plasti dip srapy. While it looks horrible, I know, it does give a very nice texture and adds strength to it. When it was glass black when the paint was first applied it was beautiful and tempting to just go with a gloss black for the whole thing.

The mouth piece, aka the pain in my ..., has a ghetto extension using electric tape then covered with plastidip. It looks very sloppy in this pic but since then it has been cleaned up and now looks much nicer. I will still be replacing the mouth piece later on though with a new print.

This next picture shows a clearer idea of where the paint is going. I still have some coats to go and right now I have paint drying so I can't do a whole lot right now. It is looking better as I go and should be fairly close to what I thought it should look like.

Thanks guys I am hoping the next go around will be smoother with what I have learned thus far.

I am still thinking of ideas for how to get this mouthpiece working until I get another (I guess it isn't all that important but it is a big part of the looks of the pipe.)

I am thinking of coating the inside with paraffin wax. It really doesn't come in much contact with the atty tube so it shouldn't melt. If this worked it would hopefully seal off anything else harmful?

For the outside of the mouth piece I am thinking of using some heat shrink tubing if I can find some large enough. The heat shrink should form nicely to the mouthpiece and give it a good finish.

Well I should be able to put it together soon. I drilled the hole out on the side to open it up for the tac. switch.

I know it looks horrible doesn't it.

Lets see how the button fits on the curved wall

I hope it is flush on the outside though ;)

Looks better in person and that tactile switch has a great feel and look to it. I am going to do some touch up on the paint then I should be ready to get it all put together.

Stay tuned!

Darchand could you tell me (us) the rating of the button.

It looks like the new Madvapes one (if I'm wrong Darchand, please tell me/us!)

From Madvapes:
Nice positive click feel and sound to these when you press them.
Low profile but enough sticking out for a good click..
Lip around the top of switch allows for press fitting, somewhere between a 13/64 and 7/32 in hole.
SPST with 4 leads
Rated 12v, 50 ma.
Color: Silver
7.4mm x 7.4mm body

You are correct. He sent that switch as a freebee last order I made. It was also not available for purchase when he sent it.

MastiffMike / Darchand.
Thanks for the info. My mind isn't working well at the moment, so please answer one more question.
If the switch is only rated at 50ma are you using a switched regulator?

I would like to but the only ones I know of work at 5 volts I need one that works at 3.7 volts. If I were a bit more tech savy I would be throwing in something to boost the voltage to 5v and have a switch regulator on there as well.

Luckily it should be easy to take apart if need be so long as I don't tac the battery case to the inside of the shell. So if I figure out something down the road I can probably add it easily enough.

What happened?

Here is a quick run down of some of the problems.

1st the mouthpiece. Not a big deal but as far as looks go it is a nice thing to have. This piece was to short to fit over the atty. If I made this again I would make it a good inch longer.

2nd the switch. I would like to have a better switch on the design but I went with this size simply because it is a good fit with the bowl of the pipe. The switches leads however broke while working with it trying to get it in place. I have other switches that aren't as nice looking and have had some progress with them but still having difficulty.

3rd battery size. Once everything is said and down the battery is just too tall to fit the bowl. This is a biggy and not as easily fixed as some of the other things. If the bowl was about a half inch taller and a quarter of an inch wider it would fit with room to spare I might even be able to throw in a bigger battery if I went back and redesigned it. For now though it is too small to hold the height of the battery.

Okay I know it doesn't sound like much and really if it were scaled up a little it would have been perfect. I knew that when I made this print it might not work the way I would like it to and that something might not fit.

It wasn't a complete failure because the print did come out nice and now I know what I need to do and what sizes I need to increase to make this pipe work.
