Is the battery getting hot or the atomizer? If the battery is getting hot, then that's not a good thing. If the atomizer is getting then that could be bad, too. Harder draw, no sizzle or pop could be a sign that it's blocked and not getting any airflow. This could be from flooding. Take it off, blow it out and try it again.

Are you using a cart and how long have you been using the same cart?

Also Riva usually ships with LR atomizers. Maybe pick up a standard resistance 510 atomizer or 2 - it will not be as hot. I don't use atomizers any more except to test juices and occasionally drip. I use Boge cartomizers and the LR ones (ohms 2.0 or 2.5) are the hotter ones. I use the standard ones currently.

I usually let it sit for a little when the atomizer gets really hot to the touch, like almost can't hold onto it more than a second. If I'm in my work van I put it in from of the A/C for a bit. The vapor DOES get a lot better after it breaks in, I think it's because the wick and coil gets gunked up juice on it and the gunky stuff helps more evenly distribute the heat in there instead of just hitting the juice on the surface of the coil. I find that occasionally after heavy use the draw gets a lot harder and the atomizer heats up quick but produces little vapor. That's when the atty's clogged. I just do an alcohol soak like shown on some youtube vids, let it dry overnight or longer depending on the atty. Still though after there will be carbon buildup on the coil and it's still a broken in atty just a little refreshed. I've revived atty's that would not vape at all this way (tends to happen more on the cheaper 510 attys)
