Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone could help me figure out why the Screwdriver MkI that was delivered to me today doesn't work, please?

It's one of these: MKI SD STARTER KIT - With Tank / 510 atomiser
It just came in a Jiffy bag with all the parts individually wrapped in bubble wrap inside. No instructions at all.

So I threaded it all together but it didn't work. I thought probably the supplied batteries were not charged, so I went out and bought a travel adapter (the kit comes with a USA style plug). I put one of the batteries on charge for an hour but the SD still didn't work after that.
So I charged it for a further three hours - still not working.

I've now tested both the batteries with a voltmeter and they are both showing slightly over 4 volts (so I guess they were delivered charged after all)

The battery is inserted with the negative side downwards, ie towards the manual switch.

If I put the battery in the bottom part of the SD and press the switch in the battery only rises up about 0.5 to 1mm - Does that sound right?

Any other ideas or suggestions what I may have done wrong?

Thanks very much.

They have a link for user guide videos new the bottom of that page you linked
- The ScrewDriver - An electronic cigarette that simply works

Click the Help button here - email them and they have a forum
CaveCom - Interactive Website Developers

Thanks but those videos are no help. There are no fault finding ones. I tried registering on their forum hours ago but ....

I would check your atty connection dude. Sounds like you are ready to rock. There isn't much to an SD really. You'll get it figured out soon. Good luck!
I've tried a couple of different atomisers.
Would I be right in thinking that with the atomiser off I should be able to see some glowing or sign of heat when looking into the bit the atty screws onto? (with the button pressed, of course)

Cheers

Is this a used MKI? I only had a MKII. But if someone else was using a different atty, it may have pushed the contact on your MKI down just enough so that the brand you are trying to use may not make contact. I run into this when I jump between diff brands of batteries with my 808's. And yes, if you are getting power to the atty, and look down inside of it, it should glow red(but be careful, you can easily kill an atty this way. It's also called a dry burn.)

No...you wouldn't see any heat or a hot coil or anything EXCEPT down inside the atomizer. The heating coil is down inside the atty. The battery should activate the heating coil. Someone suggested it above, but let me mention it again. If the batteries are charged, (you said they are) then I'd look to the atomizer. It has to make contact and I'm thinking that may be the problem. On the threading end of the atty, you can stick the end of a paperclip in the little hole and *barely* ease the end of the atty out just a tiny bit (so that it will make better contact,) then screw it in and see if it heats up. You can hold it up to your ear and you should be able to hear a little sizzle sound. If there's no sizzle at all, it's either a dead atty, or it's not making contact. Try that and come back and we'll all help troubleshoot some more if need be.

If you have not already, take that atty off, and blow through one end, with the other into a paper towel. You gotta get that shipping oil they pack the atty in out of there as much as possible. Or your taste buds will pay a price for hours lol. Taste like dead cat ....
Oh, I didn't know about that! Thanks for tip dude.

The SD is a vape machine. Works great, and has very few set backs imo. Very simple, brutally effective. One thing I noticed right off the bat though, is that the whole cart(little piece of foam in the plastic tip of the atty)idea is a joke. Lose it, and save yourself some frustration. And, it taste like hell. If you use the drip method with the SD, you'll probably have a much better experience. With a new dry atty, just drip several drops(maybe 4 or 5 on a dry atty, 2 or 3 when it starts to taste dry\metallic) right onto the bridge(little microphone looking thingy inside of the atty). Then vape your little heart out! Good luck man. And don't hesitate to shoot me a PM is you have any trouble. Just click on my avatar to do this. Have a good day.
