Ya know...
Thinking on this now...I kinda don't think it was there before.
I think Advanced Search always went forum wide.

Right. What I initially brought up though was the date range is missing in the search bar (non-advanced search) where you can search a specific thread and also select a date range, date range being X date to present. The search bar used to have a date range option. But the new Xenforo I believe has deprecated that (but I could be wrong). See image below from Archive.org.

It was very helpful on long threads that you knew had info but was a pain to find without narrowing the date (that's the lament other forum owners have about the deprecation of this capability). I believe the only way to bring it back is through an add-on, if one exists, or if you want to pay someone to code if for you and hope they will be around to update it and support it into the future (or do it yourself).

Has anyone noticed that you can "like" posts in conversations now ?
I think that's a nice feature !

No I didn't notice. I like that, too. I can't tell you how many times I went to "like" a post in a convo and then realized I couldn't do it, then wished I could.

Yes, Newer Than is VERY helpful - especially on a forum this old.
And the search results have never come back chronological

A "Newer Than" Filter would be a Great thing to apply to the Similar Threads recommendations.

If the returned result are So Old that Rolygate or "Captain Tight Pants" is the OP, then the Threads are probably Too Old.

Just plopping this little tidbit here for those who may not know...

When you look at your list of Alerts by clicking on your user name in the upper right corner you will see, for some posts, Red dots next to an alert.

Screen shot 2022-08-27 at 3.57.03 PM.png

You can click that alert, the red circle thingamabob, or any number of alerts, to mark those as read. An alert marked Read will look like this.

Screen shot 2022-08-27 at 4.08.46 PM.png

You then have the option to mark it unread (if you so choose).

When you mark an Alert, or alerts, as Read the total number of alerts next to your user name will be decreased. Unless of course you want to go see each alert across however many threads.

The same can be done with the alerts on your Alerts page. To navigate to your alerts page click the Alerts symbol (the bell) after clicking on your user name (upper right corner). Here...

Then you will see all your Alerts in list format going back pages and pages. Like so...
Screen shot 2022-08-27 at 4.15.25 PM.png

And again, you can mark any of those as Read or Unread by hovering over one of the red circles and clicking it on or off.

This may be something dumb to post here, IDK. My take... whatever might be able to help people, great.

Agreed. Same here. For me it was usually automatic in looking to Like a post in a convo only to realize, oooops.

Merely clicking the bell doesn't work for me to get to the alerts page, it merely selects the alerts tab (see pic). I can only get to the alerts page by click on the "show all" link at the way bottom of the alerts drop down. By "alerts page", I mean
Code:
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/account/alerts
So for now I have that URL bookmarked until (hopefully) ECF puts that bell directly on the bar (and the envelope, too) like every other Xenforo forum has it (this is a setting in the theme, I believe, no big changes.)

Oh but Wingdings would be fun!!!

@alexj-12 are you folks looking into the Font Family problem??? Please.

Sometimes when clicking on Font Family it shows up empty and other times it shows up listing the available fonts.

After entering some text in this reply and selecting Font Family the fonts showed up.

In the Member Classified and Swaps there used to be two simple buttons at the top to filter for "For Sale" and "Wanted" ..easily seen and differentiated. Now these filters are hidden in a drop down filter menu that requires many more clicks to achieve this simple task.

I'm not advocating that the filters menu be removed, but that the "For Sale" and "Wanted" filter buttons be reinstated.

Never mind. I just discovered for myself that the flag/flair/tag on the posts themselves act as filters. So clicking on the first "For Sale" flag will result in only "For Sale" posts being visible. Neat!

In classifieds all you do is click on Prefix and select the one you want when you create a thread

Going back a bit re: searching threads only. Yes that was an option I used frequently. And if you scroll back some UncleJunkle posted an image from archive.org and you can see the check box there for search this thread only.

You can still search inside a thread using the non-advanced search bar! My point is that there is no longer a "newer than" date parameter. It is deprecated most likely. Date parameter is only available via advanced search, but advanced search does not allow searching inside a thread.
