Over 30% of current e-cigarette users polled reported smoking cessation and reduction.

IMO, that number could be much higher ... better gear would help

enter the FDA to stop innovation :smokie:
The gear is more than good enough and we have more than adequate choice in gear.

Over 50% of Americans think vaping is as bad as or worse than smoking. Could that possibly have an impact? ;)

I never noticed where they listed what type of gear was used.

I'm thinking ego or cigalikes with cheap juice.

I'd be curious what was used to produce such low numbers.

I meet many smokers that say they tried eCigs but it didn't work. Usually cigalikes and in all cases they didn't go to a vape shop to improve on things. And most of them were not convinced there was any actual harm reduction since the govt told them they were worse than cigs so why put in any more effort or money? It's a lack of education highly encouraged by the govt who is trying to put vape shops out of business in order to increase the failure rate.

Now I understand so-called "tobacco control" is nothing more than a bunch of private foundations and non profits that get $10-15 billion a year from tobacco taxes to pay hacks and science whores to pretend to be doing something about smoking. Vaping is their worst nightmare because it can actually do what they pray never happens. Those people are using their infuence to discourage vaping. That hurts success. They have allies because tobacco taxes pay for a lot of other things like pubic education. If they were encouraging vaping the success rate would be improved. They don't get all the blame. Some smokers don't want to change. Vaping is not a magic pill. I was the second person in the shop where I work to start vaping. Now may be there are 10. Some people need to see social acceptability. Are they called late adopters in the marketing world?

The vape shops have less interest in beginners. Their money comes from hobbiests who buy liquids. When I started 20 months ago the advice was start around 10 watts on 12-18 mg nic. Now the shops want beginngers to start on 3-6mg nic and higher watts. That advice sells more e liquid. It doesn't help beginngers stop smoking. A responsible institution that isn't in the vape business could be providing advice not driven by market considerations. All the non industry groups that might do that are doing their best to discourage vaping to protect the "tobacco control" industry.

It wouldn't surprise me if the USA Tobacco Control Industry revenues equal or exceed tobacco manufacturing revenues for its USA distribution. It would be more interesting to compare the respective payrolls.

My local vape shop was vitally interested in and totally focused on quitting smoking when they got me started two years ago. I have no reason to believe they've changed. They may be typical or atypical,. I have no way of knowing. But there surely are some good shops out there. I think it unfair to declare a pox on all those houses...

I posted this around 5 years ago, but I'd probably tweak it a bit...
E-Cigarette Forum Discussion Thread

There are various factors involved including...
--Quality of electronic cigarette
--Fit of that electronic cigarette to your needs
--Quality of eliquid you start with
--Fit of that eliquid to your needs
--Knowledge of the vast array of other options available
--Understanding that there is a solution for almost every problem
--Having a knowledgeable support system

Add them all up and I'm still looking for an 80% success rate.
:)
