I almost lurked...then decided to just take the dive.

I smoked cigs from 14-30, then due to change in jobs I picked up copenhagen and have enjoyed it since. But the wife, the wife has been on me the last five years or so to quit the dip, and so I have (at first grumpily) decided to give an E Cig a try.

My biggest problem was I really don't enjoy the taste of cigs...cigars sure, but good cigars. I doubt I will give those up, they are a large aspect of my social life with friends.

But on to the quitting...I tried a couple of ecigs...and then quit trying, they just made me cough. About a month ago I stopped in my local tobacco shop *to pick up some Cope* and saw they had these Vapor 1-2-3 E Cigs on sale and I decided to give it a shot...

Turned out after some light tries...I've almost kicked copenhagen completely. That's a huge step in progrees, and makes the wife VERY happy.

My research has shown there are several bits and pieces from different manufacturers that will work together...so I'm here to investegate and see which one I will end up with in the long term before I invest a ton of money into extra batteries, atomizers and the like.

Any ideas...seems there are SO many options, I'm not sure which way to turn...

Welcome to ECF! I'm a former smoker-turned dipper-gone vaper myself! My experience coming from dip was to keep my nic higher (18mg) but not so high that I would overdose. Let's face it, the great thing about dipping was that you could keep one in for a loooong time, so I tend to chain vape when I'm at home.

As far as equipment recommendations? Well, everyone has different preferences, and trial and error is always going to be part of vaping! I personally enjoy my itaste mvp with the included iclear 16's or protank, as well as vision spinner batteries with kanger evods. Good luck on your journey, you'll find everything you need here!

jpwr25 I'm happy to hear there's at least one person who's been down the majority of my path already...*laugh*

I have no compunction about admitting I'm addicted to both nicotine and the oral aspects of said tobacco. I'm just trying to enjoy the relaxation it offers as a better choice than a big ole chew of Cope...and yes, they last a long time...and yes I chain vape at the house, in the car and at the office...*laugh*

Knowing how much nicotine I was used to I started on 24mg...that was a mistake that gave me migraine style headaches and the sweats...*laugh*. Knocking it down to 12 and I'm doing much better...MUCH better.

THe rest you are speaking about, the type of tanks, batteries and such are quite gibberish to me...I have some learning to do...

For those who are curious...this is my ecig setup, the disconnected tank is the original it came with...the one on it is a bit larger and seems to have an easier/cooler draw...

welcome to ecf. i personally like your set up. main thing is that it is doing its job. read, read, read. everyone will have a differing opinion. a lot will tell you to save money and go straight top of the line pv's...such as provari and others i cant recall the names of. ....but listen to all, read, read, read....then decide.... your progress is awesome. now that you have your nic level correct, try this. any time you feel like you need a jawfull, vape for about 5 minutes. if you still want it, do it. you will surprise yourself.

so now i will tell you what i am up to as far as equipment. 1300mah ego-c type battery. on a battery, the mah is use of time...this battery will go 13 hours without a recharge. a 1100 battery will go about 11 hours, a 650 will go about 6 hours. you always want a back up battery. on top of that sits a clearomizer(the thing that holds the juice). right now i think i have one of the ce4 or ce5 from fasttech. these are good for backups, as they are very inexpensive. basically use till it taste funny and throw away. when i first started, i found a kit from myfreedomsmokes.com for i think it was $62. 2 batteries, 1000 mah,, charger, 2ce-5's, 5 replacement heads......everything i needed except the juice...and they do have good juice. their prices are great as well as their customer service. that was about 4 months ago. i have added backup batteries @1300mah in kits for $20 from fasttech...it is the double battery set up too. hubby and i do this vape thing together, and we are both happy with them.

Well thank y'all for the warm welcome...and happy to see some other Texans here. It's pretty amazing to me how many people down here have absolutely no idea what an E Cig is. Houston is the what, fourth largest city? 90% of people think this is some kind of a magical smoking device...magical, but evil...*laugh*

Wandawag, It's going to take some time for me to figure out what works where and with what...

I can say I'm good with the setup I have right now, but the *$%^ things are quite...ugly. I need to find some battery packs and clearomizers that have some STYLE...which I am pretty sure is going to mean expensive.

Regardless...I'm looking forward to furthering my push...I'm already down to two cans a week from 12+ cans of Cope...and that's a change that happened in a week...so I have momentum on my side...

Much love y'all

I am in the process of switching from dip as well. The only times I struggle are when I'm in situations that I'm very used to dipping, but can't really vape (like playing softball, hanging out at the bar, etc.) I've managed to cut down to one can every two weeks, so that's definitely a big change! I hope you continue to rock it.
