Greetings all - I have a REO mini and am making the plunge to rebuild. Started with the reomomizer 3.0 single coil (have since ordered the 2.0 as well). I am having some difficulty in figuring out the coil placement. Have found quite a bit of info on dual coil, but little on the single. I am looking for pictures to show best placement of the coil. I have built a couple, but haven't been entirely pleased - they seem to pull toward the edge and not sure if that is correct or not. Looking for advice on coil builds - ohms, wraps material etc. I am open to try any and all - including wicking material. I have the old contacts so not sure what the ohm lower limit should be. First time posting here, but have been reading for awhile! Love my REO - had left it for awhile when I got a Hanaz, but am returning as I want to use both. Thanks ahead!

We have a CHART that will give you some guidance as to wraps, gauge, etc. for the ohms you're shooting for.
Beyond that, ideal placement is to "start" as close to the edge (without shorting) as you can get, and inline with the airhole. That said, very minor adjustments will make a big difference in the vape, raising the coil increases TH, lowering it increases flavor. On the RM2, which is what I use, you can go very low because the deck is ceramic and won't short, just be sure to leave enough room for the juice to drain back into the bottle.
Some folks make a science out of coil building, I, for one, do not. Simple is more than adequate, and Robert has a fine VIDEO on how to build a simple, and quite respectable coil.

ETA: You'll be limited as to lower ohms, by both the batteries and contacts, mostly the batteries. I don't have a mini, but as long as you're above about 1.0 ohms, you should be fine (my personal preference is 1.8) I'm assuming you're using the AW 18490's, rated at 15c, so you could go lower, .5 would probably be safe, but you need to plug in all the specs into an ohms calculator to be sure. And if you're rebuilding, a meter to check the resistance is the only safe way to go.

Building the single coil version of the RM3 is just like building duals on it, just half the effort, so anything you saw on setting up the duals is still valid. I don't have a pic handy, but coil placement should be as close to the outer edge as possible without contacting the cap and at air hole height. The cap is then placed so that the air hole is right at the coil. What you want is air flowing over and under the coil directly from the hole.
Because of the small diameter base and the placement of the posts, you want the center post coil leg a little longer than the outer post leg so that the coil follows the contour of the base/cap better. Watch for a hot leg on the longer leg, though.
As far as wicking goes, you've got some choices. Most folks these days use either cotton (Koh Gen Do japanese cotton pads are the reigning champ there, but other organic cotton works) or READYxWICK, which is a ceramic wick that lasts forever (as in 4 months, with regular dry burn cleaning). If using the latter, one tip is to tilt your coil slightly so that the inner end points a little towards the deck - the RxW is pretty stiff and pointing it at the deck helps with squonking as it gets the wick end into the juice.
For the coil itself, I like a nice 28 gauge microcoil at 1/16" inner diameter, 7 wraps for about .8ohms on a mini. You may like to run higher (or lower) ohms, so you'd adjust the number of wraps accordingly. I never had any issues with the older contacts at that resistance as long as I took the appropriate care with noalox and regular cleaning (and, of course, good batteries like the AW 18490's).
Have fun with it. Play around with different builds - it's all good, and all about finding your personal vaping sweet spot.

This not an RM3 but the post placement and small deck make it very similar. I used spaced coils and ReadXwick. But a standard micro coil and cotton would work great as well. Notice that I have inside leg longer to help position the coil, the air hole in the cap would facing my button.
