New to Carto's. What is a good PG/VG ratio?

I have a bunch of clearo's, atomizers, and now a few rba's. I kept seeing everyone talk about how much better the taste is from a carto so I thought I would give it a go and got some cheapies from fasttech. http://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10002095/1352304 are the ones I purchased. I primed one with 25 drops until juice was coming out of the two slots. I put it into the tank and filled up the tank half way and put another 5 drops into the carto. I then let it sit for 20 minutes before I started to vape it. (I had a new coil to build for the RSST anyways) I put it on my Vmax and set it to 4 watts and it was vaping ok. I went up to 7 watts and the flavor started to kick in. Seemed best at around 8 watts so I went to using it. After about 10 vapes I started to get a dry vape followed by a slight burnt taste. I pulled the carto out and reprimed another one. Same thing. I put it on my mech and it's much better. The juice I was using is a 50/50 PG/VG mix I made recently. Is it that it's still to much VG or is it just a bad wicking carto? I will say I'm starting to like most things on the mech now over the VV/VW devices. So much so that I'm looking at machining a nice copper/brass one here in the near future for myself for a one off PV.

Any help would be great. I have a feeling it's the carto's as most of the stuff on Fasttech is very cheap. I did buy some Boge's but they are still in the mail. Not going to give up on Cartotanks just yet.

I use boge single coil 2.0 ohms with single hole. My pg/vg is 70/30. My DCTank sits on top of a Provari at 4.7 to 5.0 volts. I never get a dry hit. When I used smoktech flanged carts I would drip around 35 drops by tilting the cart and dripping in the top. Surface tension will stop liquid from getting in the center hole. Some people block it with a toothpick. For my boges I use the condom method. I take the longer condom and fill it half way then push the connector end down the condom. You should see a little liquid come to the top of cart. One other thing, my boges have two holes. I take a flat toothpick and twist the small end into one of the holes. After 4 twists I trim it flush with nail clippers. It never comes out and makes a good seal. Maybe once a month I have a cart with flooding issues. When that happens I will orient the hole where no liquid gets in and vape like that until is clears up. You can take slow easy draws to avoid the gurgling. It will clear up within a few draws. Hope that helps and good luck

I went to the link that you provided to see what you purchased. The website wasn't exactly the most informative site I've ever been to, as I am still confused what resistance or ohm rating the cartos have that you purchased. The listing says only, "Dual heating atomizer core" which I assume means a dual coil cartomizer, but no mention of the resistance which was the info I was most interested in to give you suggestions on watts or volts to use with them.

Since you stated that you prefered the vaping experience with the fixed voltage mech mod over the higher voltage Vmax (which has been known to hit harder than the user set output), I'm assuming the cartos are low resistance. I you want a better vape on higher voltage devices like your VMax I'd suggest standard or high resistance cartos.

Concerning your question about Pg/Vg ratios, any carto worth its salt that has one or two holes should be able to easily wick 50/50 e-liquid.

I think you are taking a gamble when you purchase non-brand name cartomizers. You're likely to get exactly what you pay for ... cheap cartos of questionable quality. Cartomizer quality sometimes is bad enough when purchasing from the big name manufacturers; I would expect it to be worse with generic cartos.

Having said that, I still consider cartotanks one of my favorite juice delivery devices. I use primarily Ikenvape cartomizers. I find them to provide very good flavor, consistancy, and dependability.

I just recieved my Boge carto's along with a F16. It's night and day. I just threw away my money on those other carto's. I tried on 2 more of them and they work for a bit then stop wicking and burn. The boges are much better. Also It seems easier to sense when it's starting to get dry. So it's the RSST on my mech and the F16 on my Zmax for now. I personally love the vape off the mech. And it's not noisy like the Vmax or Vamo. The wife isn't scolding me for taking it to bed as much. Now I just need to get a good micro coil in my protank and I'll be prepared for about any vaping adventure.
