I'll be getting my first nic juice, flavors, PG etc etc by the end of the week. I have only 808D1 batteries and cartos, so I am now wondering what is the best way to taste test a few drops? With an atty setup it would be no problem, but I am sure there is a better way than filling a carto for a test (as I am sure there will be many test on the road to what I like).

Quite a few options for you...

Note, if you have auto batteries be very careful not to drip too much!!! The juice can run down into the battery switch and gum it up pretty bad...possibly even short the battery.

1. Carefully pull the filling out of one of your cartos. If it is a horizontal coil type carto, you can carefully pull out the center tube as well...if it's a vertical coil or you aren't sure just leave that center tube in there. If you have a drip tip, great, but you can also tail-pipe it.

A. If you have a auto batteries...just drip like 3 drops in the tiny hole at the battery end of your carto...wait a moment and let it go in the hole. Wipe it good...treads and all...screw it on the battery, then vape. Should get 5 to 10 good puffs from that at least.

B. If you have manual batteries, you can just drip right in from the top all you like.

2. 901 atomizers fit on your batteries. Drip a couple of drops on the atty bridge, then snap on a drip tip (or put the cart on without any filler) and vape. Again, if you have auto batteries, be careful and don't put too many drops in the thing and flood it.

3. You can also use 510 (or other attys) with a 808/901 to 510 adapter and drip on the bridge as described with the 901 atty above.

4. Get a pack of CE2 cartomizers. Don't fill it up with juice...just drip one drop on the coil and vape.

In all those cases, you can usually get out old flavor by blowing good and hard through the battery end of the atty several times.

Those are just a few ways to test juices quickly without loading carts or cartos.

Hope this helps.

BTW...you might consider getting yourself an eGo or Riva USB pass through battery and a 510 atty :) You'll love it.........and can probably be found for $20 or less :)

Yes, the 901 threads are the same.

Most 901 stuff will work with KR808D-1 batteries just fine. The opposite is NOT true however...808 cartos do NOT work well on 901 batteries (unless you get an air-flow adapter or do a mod of some sort).

The big difference between 808 and 901 is the way air flow works. KR808D-1 cartomizers have those little slot like shapes around the bottom that let air in. 901 stuff doesn't have those slots...instead it has a hole near the atty coil...in the atty casing itself.

Hope that answers it for ya ;)

Whoopee!
Thanks Credo

And thanks proax9 for asking that question! Now I can taste my experiments without filling a whole carto!

Thanks to Credo.... I pulled some batting out of one of my used cartos.... it still has a little left in

the bottom... perfect way to try a few drops of a new flavor....

I certainly have plenty of used cartos to do this with so even if I do damage one it is no big deal

Quite welcome.
Some of them also have a patch type bit of cloth-like material in the very bottom that'll soak up a good 8 to 15 drops enough not to leak out, nor without flooding the atomizer. That little patch is pretty hard to dig out without breaking something down in there; however, don't be afraid to rinse them in hot water or PGA to get out old lingering flavors. Not so hard to do with the poly-fluff removed :)

Hey proax - I started with KR8 XL 380mAh batts from V4L and ultimately got so frustrated with cartos that I got a V3 (6v set-up from Puresmoker w/KR adaptor) to get better performance out of cartos - this worked but I still liked and wanted to use my "stick batts" - I ordered a LR 901 atty and it didn't work on the sticks and I burned it out on my passthru (5v) - didn't see this mentioned so if you get a 901, be sure to order standard resistance (2.7-2.8ohm) - work great on KR batts for testing DIY -BTW, after 1 year of vaping, I've tried every blank carto out there and the best, hands down, is made by Boge (cloudsofvapor.com & others) - now using e2 fluxomizers also on the KRs and my 510 batts (2.4 & 2.6ohm) and love 'em - (gotvapes.com) and they just added the vortex carto (KR only) - if you're not aware of the cartos mentioned, it's worth checking out - with the Boges (@ 6v) and the e2s (@ 3.7v), this is the best, most consistent vaping experience I've ever had - with the hassles associated w/dripping, leaking and the high cost, my attys are progressively taking a back seat - welcome and happy vaping

Rolondo: Thanks for the info- I want to try the Vortex, they sound fantastic. I recently started changing over to the CE2, tired of not being sure when to reload the cartos. I ordered an 901 atty: but it didn't state LR, or any resistance for that matter. (I am new to the attys). Should be here tomorrow. I have a few test mixes lined up and ready to taste test.
