Hi there - this is my first post of hopefully many...

I just made the plunge into the world of e-cigarettes last week and I'm in need of some help here as I'm at a bit of a crossroads here. I purchased the much maligned Blu-Cig which arrived on Friday. I attempted to use it in place of my cigarettes all weekend and was largely successful in doing so, despite difficulties in finding a technique that didn't wipe out the cartridges after 3 drags.

Today, I smoked a conventional cigarette and was overcome by the nicotine rush as though I hadn't smoked in days, which leads me to believe either I'm doing something wrong or my expectations as to the effects of e-cigarette usage is faulty. All through the weekend it felt like I was not getting the nicotine I was expecting - it felt like I was going through withdrawals in some ways even though I managed to use 5 cartridges less than 36 hours.

What am I doing wrong here, if anything? I would expect there be some effect through consuming this much nicotine - is the real effect supposed to be so extraordinarily subtle as to be nearly imperceptible? If so, I don't think I can really switch over entirely as it's the psychoactive element to nicotine that keeps me smoking in the first place...

Is what I'm experiencing normal?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

The issue is the Blu. I hated mine and sadly may have to resort to using it if my 901 atty blew up (user error). I suggest returning it saying you were not satisfied and buying a 901 or a 510. You'll be much better off. The Blu for me seemed like I sucking through a small straw. My personal belief is that the Blu really lacks the ability to be an effective e-cig to the average smoker. The 901 for me has done perfect. I was a half pack a day smoker and 12 mg of nicotine keeps me well pacified. I suggest 18 or 24 mg with a 901 or 510 and then see how you feel. The same feeling your having happened to me and I resorted to analogs till I built my 901 mod box. The vapor production is also a factor. Well for me it was.

Suggestion: 510 or 901. 3 attys for spares with 5 blank cartridges for variable strengths and flavors. PCC is available for those as well.

The secret to using the Blu is the little silver foil cap that is covering the e-liquid capsule in the cart. To get the best results from a Blu you must push the cart on and give it a couple of good twist then pull the cart off. Then look on the atty. You should see the little foil cover that was on the juice capsule. Just use a toohpick to flick it off and then put the cart back on. Take nice slow drags on it to get the most out of it. You'll find it works a lot better that way.

Thank you for your suggestions. It looks like i may have accidentally chucked the packing list that came w/ the Blu, so I'm SOL on that one unfortunately. I'm still wondering though - is it that the vapor is cleaner and lacking in the exotic chemicals contained in normal cigarettes that causes it to also lack the psychoactive element? When I wake up in the morning and have my first smoke I'll normally get a bit of a head-rush and can feel the nicotine (or whatever it might be). I don't get the same effect with the vapor for some reason. Is that a common issue?

Thanks again...

Nater do you know why you get that head rush when you first smoke in the morning? It is called lack of oxygen. When you constrict the flow of blood(headrush when you have knelt for a long time and stand up) or oxygen to the blood via the lungs your brain tells you this by making you feel dizzy - like you are buzzed or high.

See there are these fine little things in your lungs called alveoli(airways) and they become irritated by things that do not belong there. Smoke is made up of very fine particles of burnt stuff that do a great job of this irritating thing. That is why first time smokers tend to cough and get all light headed is because those alveoli have become irritated and literally constrict trying to keep the bad stuff out...this means you are not getting the amount of oxygen to your blood that you should have gotten. This in turn means the blood going to the brain is going to be oxygen deprived...and voila...light headed feeling occurs.

This will go away if a person continues to smoke because the body starts to compensate and the lungs get use to it...sorta like a person that uses a hammer all the time builds up callouses..so your lungs build up something similar.

That is why you get the headrush sometimes from the first cig in the morning. You shocked your lungs...they constricted and you got less oxygen to your brain.

The fine water vapor, which is much finer than the smoke from a cigarette in most cases is less irritating to your lungs. So they have no reason to constrict and thus no light headed feeling.
