I just got my T-rex 510 last friday 10/1. So far I'm pretty happy with it. I originally ordered a BLU, but it was taking forever to come. So i cancelled my order and did more research and came across the T-rex by Kingpin. I'm 24 and have been smoking regular marlboro reds for 13 years. I didn't want to go the way of my grandparents and get lung cancer or emphysima(sp?).

I got a starter kit for about $55 that came with 2 bat,5 carts, usb/wall charger. I recently ordered a 30ml bottle of marlbros and a new atomizer. Everything is going good and I havn't touched or thought about a regular smoke since about saturday when i finished the remaining ciggs I had when my T-rex was delivered.

Questions:
How long did it take for your lungs to start clearing out? ( coughing up what has accumulated)

What is the best way to clean you atomizer? I used Isopropyl alc. with syringe, then rinsed with warm water. any better options?

Today I got a metallic after taste, and on monday i was having a burnt taste. I got rid of the burn taste by changing carts, and letting atomizer drip upside down on paper-towel over night. But the metallic taste still comes and goes.

overall I am really pretty happy, and i have been talking it up to folks at work and friends that have seen me pull out this "Strange black" object and "smoke" it.

I am also new to this forum (just started today)

thanks in advance!

Sure there are going to be a lot of opinions about these questions. Personally after 2 weeks I quit coughing, after 1 month i quit liking tobacco flavor juice after 2 months i could breath really really good again.

I clean my atomizers by boiling them and then dry burn to get them dried out. Just when you dry burn watch inside your atomizer and when it glows red let off the button or you burn them out. Kind of just press and release when it get too bright then press again. If you can keep it a dull red for 20-30 seconds it works without burning out your atomizers.

The metallic taste happens when you vape your atomizer/cartomizers to dry. Burnt taste is from filling that got vaped too dry also. Only way I found to fix that is a new carto or new filler in my cartridges.

It takes a little learning to vape, not like smoking. But its so worth it, i know I smoked a carton a week for over 20 years.

The burnt taste is from not enough juice in the atomizer anymore.

It takes a certain amount of time for juice to wick from the filler, through the atomizer bridge, and to the atomizer.
If you take a bunch of drags in a row, you can vape up all the juice in the atomizer without giving it time to wick up more.

The most obvious way to solve this is to wait awhile before taking another drag when it starts to get that dry atomizer taste.
Other things that work are tapping it gently like a cigarette, or shaking it gently like a thermometer.

Standing it on end with the battery side down and cartridge side up between drags will also help some.

What most people do, however, is switch to using a different filler material that wicks better.
That is why there is an entire subforum dedicated to using different filler materials.
Cartridge mods

Also, it could be that your filler material is old or has been used too much.
This can cause it to not wick as well as it was before, and for that you can clean it, or just replace it.

It also could be that it has been pushed down into the cartridge and isn't making good contact.
You can fluff it up with a toothpick or a paper clip if that is the case.

Most people eventually get tired of messing with wicking issues and just get rid of filler material altogether.
That is why so many people are buying drip tips these days.
