New to e-cigs, info appreciated!

Hello! I'm ready to quit smoking regular cigarettes and give e-cigs a try. This site was recommended to me as a good place to start. Wow, there sure is a lot of action here! Most likely my questions have answers here .... somewhere :)
I recently tried some e-cigs from a convenience store, 2 for $20. They weren't so great, and I got full flav instead of menthol light, so it wasn't a good experience. I'm ready to order online!
Please, can someone recommend a good, yet inexpensive brand to start with? What exactly am I looking for? Well, to use e-cigs to stop smoking the real ones, and then someday to quit altogether. Menthol is a must. I do not have a lot of money to spend, so if someone can help point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it :) Thanks!

I agree with player 30 (about cartos) , but it depends on what you are looking for and how much time you want to spend fiddling with it and your lifestyle.

how much do you smoke? do you spend a lot of time away from home (or more importantly an electrical outlet)? are you a gadget person, or do you just want to screw on a carto and go?

if you want an cig look alike you can go with a kr808d-1(2peice design) dse 901(3 peice) joye 510 (3peice), if you dont care if it looks like a cig then i would reccomend the riva(4peice) ego(4peice) or leo(4peice) the last 3 will have a bigger bat and last alot longer then the others, the first 3 can be found at litecig.com vapor4life, and a few others. the riva can be found at Liberty-flights.com for a very nice price, the leo can be found at the mad vaper.com vaporjunction and vapininthecape.com...just to name the few and ego can be found at most forum suppliers, hope this helps a lil have a good day!-)

What you don't want to do is buy some random ecig at a ripoff lying mall vendor or glitzy site, so you did the right thing by coming here!

My recommendation for research
In the sticky threads of New Members
1. Videos for Newbies
2. thread with Library in its title - leads to a multi-part illustrated guide

And this comparing 510 and KR808D-1
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

If you are a lights or ultralights smoking, you might like the airier hit of the DSE901 (but you can also use a DSE901 atty and carts on a KR808D-1)

My other recommendations - stay away from superminis because they satisfy few for more than a few weeks. If you are a heavy smoker, hard dragger, or need battery life of more than a 2-3 hours ( it longer with KR8) then you probably should skip the slim ones and go to Ego or Riva 510. And buy manual batteries - more sealed, less work, more consistent drags, won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration

How much do you smoke and what kind of cigarettes exactly?

Thank you all for the quick replies! Okay to answer some questions: I smoke menthol lights (ultra if I can find them) ... Misty's are my preferred brand (but lately it's been generic due to the outrageous cost in NY) ... about a pack a day ... I do not care what the e-cig looks like, nothing fancy is fine ... I don't work and am not a gadget person (electrical outlets available, and the less complicated the better). I've only tried one at the mall that was great but way too pricey, and bought a 2-pack for $20 at the corner store that wasn't so great. That's it. I guess something easy to use and affordable is what I am looking for.
Thanks again for responding! Good to know I'm not alone :)

I like the kr808d-1 for you: it's an easy system to use, just a battery and a cartomizer that you screw into it. The battery is not huge, it comes in lots of neat colors and you can get it in a bunch of flavors too, I hear the flavors are pretty good too. One battery will last about 4 hours before it needs to be charged up again, but a kit comes with 2batts usually.

The kit will run maybe $50 or so (not sure) but the replacement cartos are affordable, and you can refill the cartos with any flavor that you want too (it's easier than it sounds, lol).

good luck!

Hey Rocker Mom - glad you found it! {waves wildly!!} I beleive we "met" on MLM.

Check out the videos by Mistress Nomad that have been sticky'd and Sun Vaporer's post with links to the ECF library. I know it'll take a little time - but it will be well worth it. I know there is also a sticky'd thread with descriptions of the diff PV's (personal vaporizers) - then you can google for pictures.

Browse through the suppliers forums - there are 2 groups - those with dedicated threads and those who an "area" of the board - and check for their specials.

Welcome aboard!

i'm not into making a big production out of evaping
the simplest reliable p.v. imo is the 808 batteries. only cost ten bucks a piece i think
just put on a carto and you are good to go.
i use the elegant, same simplicity as the 808 battery but lasts alot longer and really is only practical battery of simple design if you chain vape.
