Since you want to get off ecigs quickly I suggest you go with an ego/riva to begin with. You could start with another model that looks more like a traditional cigarette, but there's lots of muss and fuss with them. These type models will, IMO, give you the best chance at quitting analogs. I wish I would have went with the eGo/riva to begin with.

Beyond the kit, it is your own choice when to go with cartridges and atomizers or to use cartomizers. You can buy cartos prefilled, or you can fill them yourself with ejuice. It can be overwhelming, but you did something that I didn't do. Rather than just read through all the post you asked in a thread. I would have saved myself alot of money.

That is a general recommendation, What are you looking for in a PV?

Volcano Magma is another good one.

First one I bought was the SSChoice No.7 which was horrible. Barely worked at all and it was non-standard. I almost gave up on the whole eCig thing it was so bad.

Then I ran across the Volcano site, ordered the Magma and haven't looked back. It's a standard 510 and the Magma atty's put out tons of vapor. I've moved on to a 5V box mod but I still use the Magma atty's and recommend them to anyone with 510 batteries.

I too recommend the Janty/Joye eGo (stay away from off-brands). The 510 is a good unit but even two batteries might not last from wakey-wakey to nighty-nite time. The eGo battery is 3.5 times larger than a 510. It lasts me two days before charging is needed. There is a good deal on eGo kits here:

When I first started, I was advised "just get an ego. Almost everyone eventually does anyway." I got a 510, which was great & got me off the analogs... but yeah, there's a lot of fiddling with it and the short battery life and all... eventually I got an ego.

I still have my 510 stuff around as a backup and to loan to ppl who want to "try before they buy"; it's not like I'm getting rid of it or anything. If you smoke less than a pack a day, a 510 will certainly work for you. More than that, and will probably still be enough to break the analog habit... but just get an ego to start with. You will eventually anyway :)

LOL,,,,honestly we don't all own stock in Joye, well, I don't. I wish I did. Hiram makes a good point; starting with the 510 will give you backups. Of course, I started with the 510 went to ego then ordered a riva and plan to order one more riva (the $30 deal is just too sweet to pass up) when they are back in stock for backups.

I'm real new but I don't think there's a one-size-fits-all answer. One thing most people seem to agree on is to get manual batteries unless there is some reason you need to vape hands-free. Not all models have manual batteries available. Other than that, I think it depends on how often you are willing to fuss with it, how easily you can recharge batteries, and how much of a power-smoker you were. I was a lights smoker and I did not take heavy drags. My boss on the other hand is a Marlboro red smoker and can suck down a whole one in about a minute. So I don't think the cigarette-size manual M402 (M401 with slightly shorter battery) I got for my own first PV would come anywhere near providing what he needs, but so far it's fine for me. Its carts don't hold much but I can top off carts at work or at home and it has a nice PCC that can recharge my batteries during the day.

What also seems to be true is eventually - often as their 2nd PV, a lot of people end up using a 510, or Ego or Riva which I think are both 510 parts with a bigger flared battery. It's a more powerful PV than what I have.
