Decided to check into e-cig. Wow what a lot of information. Access to this forum is a big
help. I am trying to decide which brand to try. I have smoked for many years, tried
some of the remedies and just can't seem to accomplish much. I smoke 1 pack a day
but only smoke 1/2 cig. Tired of cigarettes and tired of throwing 1/2 of a very expensive
cigarette away.
I am thinking about Halo starter pack. When ordering the kit I noticed you have to choose
chargers at extra cost. I am so clueless as to what I need. Has anyone tried one of the
Halo kits? I just like regular tobacco taste, not the flavored ones. Where is the best place
to order?
Thanks for any help
mslarew

Hi and welcome!
The Halo Triton is a good starter kit, but really you can start just about anywhere. For roughly the same price you can get a Kanger Evod vv starter kit or an ego twist, find one you like and go from there! As for tobacco flavors most of us felt the same way at first, then have expanded to other flavors.

One tip for you, don't go crazy and buy a ton of juice right off, once your sense of taste starts coming back the juice that you think is awesome now, may not be so great next month.

Hello and Welcome mslarew. The Triton starter kit is a good start as those who have purchased one will advise. The only problem with them is that they are not as universal as the eGo's (Kanger Evod is an example of an eGo style, has an ego contact and a 510 contact). You can't swap out the toppers as well and you're stuck using Halo products only. DoMortas advised you well on not buying large amounts of juice when you first try them, do sample sizes to start so you don't invest too heavily in something you may or may not like. Yes, your taste buds will definitely change so don't throw out those you don't like right off they may taste heavenly later on after your taste buds revive and the juice has aged some. When I buy a battery I like the bigger batteries, 1000mAh-1300mAh, because I'm a heavy vaperer and they last longer. If you want something more discreet you may want the smaller batteries, 650mAh-900mAh. These won't last as long, depends on how much you vape really, but they are easier to handle. There are eGo's called Twists that allow for you to increase or decrease your voltage, changes the temp of your vape, and they are really nice. You'll probably end up with these in the near future. I chose the Vision Spinner, another eGo style, very much like the Twist but it comes in a higher mAh. I hope I'm not confusing you too much. I'll stop here and let you digest, lol. Please ask more questions if you need to. Good luck!

Hi and welcome mslarew

You are correct, there is a lot of information presented here. I'm not going to offer recommendations other than a VV (variable volt) battery is well worth the price. One other thing, you might try typing "starter kit" in the "advanced search", just be sure to enter a date in the search criteria or you will get a billion hits, that may be a slight exaggeration...

I dislike side effects of meds myself mslarew. I've had too many experiences with them to count. Vaping really helped my 33yr addiction to cigarettes. I couldn't believe how easy it made quitting them! My doctors have been really supportive with my vaping and told me to tell everyone who smokes about it, lol. So I do in a very mild laid back kinda way. I let them open the door to it first because they are all curious. I've gladly helped 4 people make a complete switched but have tried to help 7 in total. The one's that didn't transition are in their 20's, the one's who did are in their late 40's to mid 50's. The younger one's did like it alot they just won't commit, yet ;). At least they know it's there if they want it.

Thank you DetraMental (clever name) and DoMortas. I will check out the recomended. My Dr. gets
irked because I don't stop smoking and I have moderate COPD. Tried Chantix and it worked very
well. Had vivid dreams and a bad case of apathy, but I gradually went back to smoking after I was finished
with Chantix.

Here is my recommendation for a starter kit. I bought this and stopped smoking. I've bought two more for family members who have also stopped. It comes with everything you need except the e juice. You get 2 ego style batteries, 2 toppers/tanks, and a charger. This is a reliable vendor with good customer support should you need it. If you enter the code ECF at checkout you get 10% off, making the kit about $30 with free shipping. Here is a link:

Hi, and welcome, I'm just going to give my opinion real quick, everyone is different, how ever I tried the cigalikes back in 2010 and found they just didn't work for me. a couple weeks ago I got a "blisterpack" with an 1100 mAh battery ego style battery and ce4 clearomizer, charger included. for under 20.00. Only thing I had to get extra was juice. the battery will last you all day and a full tank all day too, easy to fill. and clearomizer is still going strong after a couple weeks. And now I'm actually off the stink sticks. after 30yrs of smoking.

Good luck to you what ever vape setup you do decide on.

Hi and welcome! Today is day three for me and I'm tobacco free ! I thought it would be a lot harder especially since my hubby still smokes tobacco in front of me but with vaping it's been wonderful.my smell is starting to come back and I noticed tobacco stinks. I never thought I'd say that coming from almost 2 packs a day for 25 years! ! But I just love love love vaping. I thought I wouldn't care for the sweet flavors either until I tried them! Omg! They are wonderful! Now to me vaping tastes much cleaner than analog cigarettes! I just know you will love it! One piece of advice, don't limit yourself to only the tobacco flavors because you might be surprised how wonderful the other flavors are! Try out several see what you like. You won't miss the tobacco taste. This is coming from a heavy ex smoker, trust me on this. There is nothing I miss about cigarettes! I just love the taste and feel of vaping! I just know you will be successful! I wish you the best!

I had to go look at the user manual. It says 2 - 650m ah batteries. I have the MVP now and don't use the others so much. When I was using it regularly, the battery lasted about 5 or 6 hours before needing a charge. It is a very well made kit, I think. Especially for the money, since you get two of everything. Great for starting out and having a back up.

Congrats on your successful 3 days! Good advice about the tobacco flavors, too. I think a lot of new people think they want a tobacco that tasted like their cigarettes, since that's what they are trying to replace. I found very quickly that I loved almost any of the other flavors better than the tobacco I thought I wanted to start with!:)

Lots of great and helpful advice from so many people here.

I would just add to shop around and sample what you can. You don't want to spend your money on a product that might not be appealing just a few days, or a week later.

Also, a good shop owner or helpful person should recommend a starter kit that meets your needs and not just look at you with dollar signs in their eyes. I keep hearing about more and more people getting heavily invested in devices well beyond their experience level. It is okay to start out slow.

Good luck and
Vape it easy.

I too decided to take the plunge and stop smoking analogs I think these folks call them. Long story short bought a vision spinner 2014 at1500mHa it is an adjustable voltage battery. Then I bought the Aspire BDC. Knowing nothing at all about them just because these two looked more robust than the kits.

First fill was done by the clerk at the local vape shop. He set the voltage to 4.1 and away I went. Bubble gurgle drinking juice sent me to this forum. After reading through, I started making minor changes. At a higher voltages the gurgles and drips went away. Too high and you burn the wick so small increases. The best I can figure as a new vape head is that different oils coils and batteries put out varied results. Pick a tool with room to adjust to the juice you like.
