Hey All: They call me Skullman long story but it works in the Motorcycle World! I was informed of this Forum from Dustin over at My Freedom Smokes he said it was the Best Place to go for all the info I would need OK then! I’m new to vaping been an on and off Camel Filter Smoker most of my life. Quit again some years back but seriously miss the whole smoking world. Promised my Girls I wouldn’t pick it up again Hey, a Promise is a Promise! Then I heard of vaping and thought maybe this will satisfy that urge I’ve had all these years and guess what it does! Sure there is no twirling my Zippo or sharing a smoke but Damn Hell it is so close! In the past month or so I’ve purchased NLA, Green ‘GSL’ and NEXgen. Quality sure varies! NEXgen has held up the best and I started Refilling the Atomizers. Can’t say the Camel e-liquid taste like Camels but to my surprise I really like the Menthol!

I’m still playing with flavors but I found the e-Liquid from My Freedom Smokes pretty darn good! Their Max Menthol is Fantastic! Now I’m ready to step it up. I’m looking at the Joytech eGo-C 1000ma USB Pass-Through with either CE5 eGo Clearomizer or the CE5 Mini Vivi Nova Tank then if all works out then get a Joytech eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000ma Battery. What do you think of these components? I really would like to know others opinions? I would if possible like to go with a Rebuildable Tank Atomizer Cartomizer but have No idea what is what and what would work on the eGo-C’s? I want to stay compact for portability at this time probably still use the little eCigs from time to time like indoors at a restaurant or bar. Also, if anyone can help on where I need to go to get e-Liquid that actually tastes like Camels! Any info, suggestions or tips will be Greatly Appreciated!

Thanks

First off, Welcome to ECF.

Certainly would recommend getting the eGo Twist or Vision Spinner.

I'm using a Vision Spinner with Mini Vivi Nova at the moment. I'm loving it. Just got my Mini Vivi's in this morning. They are much better for flavor and vapor production that the carto/tank I was using, or the Vivi Nova V10 tank I had.

Get different resistance coils as well. I have all 3 1.8, 2.4, and 2.8. I only got the 1.8 because I only have 1 spinner at the moment. My backup battery is a Volcano Inferno, no VV on that one.

Good luck.

Welcome to the ECF. Everything above looks good. You may want to try a cartomizer tank. People seem to either love the vivi nova or hate it. That will give you another option. I will list some liquid vendors that most people seem to like for you.

Welcome to ECF, Skullman!

First off. Get over the idea to find an e-liquid that will taste like a cigarette. Any cigarette. It doesn't exist. No one can replicate the taste of burning tobacco and smoke in an e-liquid. I'll save you money if you take that to heart.

There are "tobacco flavors" that will have the aroma of a freshly opened pack of cigarettes, or cigar or pipe tobacco. But not the burning cigarette. And most everyone here will tell you that once you have quit cigarettes, the taste of one is the last flavor you want to ever vape.

If I were you, I'd go straight with an eGo Joye Twist or Vision Spinner. The difference in price from a fixed voltage eGo is negligable. And although you might not see any advantage in variable voltage as a beginner, you likely will once you become more advanced in vaping. Might as well have this from the start and save money in the long run.

I don't believe in starter kits per se. You often don't know what you are getting, and they often include products that are knockoffs of questionable quality.

Below are links to reputable vendors that sell the batteries, charger, and juice delivery devices you need for a reasonable cost. These are brand name products that they sell, not knockoffs. I also have links to two juice suppliers that offer sampler packs to save money while you test them out.

I have the eGo-C 1000 mAh pass through and really like it. It's nice knowing that I will never actually be without a battery so long as I have the pass through and the USB cable: I can charge and vape at the same time :D I also have a variable volt and while it's nice, I'm not a fan of warm vapes like others seem to be so for me it's not as huge a deal.

I have a cheapie CE4 clearo and it gets the job done for now, though I'm thinking of getting a Kanger T3 and IBTanked carto tank for future upgrades. I also have several dripping attys and highly recommend getting at least one for testing flavors (don't forget the drip tip!).

As for Camel juice: agreed that you won't find one that is like a burning cig. With that said, the Turk & USA blend (used to be named Camel but they had to change the name) from Liberty Flights is rather nice. I also have a couple of mint juices and am prone to mixing some in with the tobacco flavored juice. From what I've seen here it's pretty common for non-menthol smokers to find they enjoy mint/menthol in their vape.

Wow! Thanks for the Welcome and your replies! I didn’t think I would get so many replies so soon! Thank you all for your opinions insight and knowledge! I will definitely have to use that Proper Terminology link Batitude cause you all are using terminology I have no clue with! Lots to learn! I’m not familiar with a Spinner SilentScreams or the Vision Spinner so I will have to look it up. You also bring up the Resistance with the coils that is another thing I have No understanding about! They are asking what level of resistance I want with purchase. Some of you really like the Mini Vivi Nova so I will definitely keep that in mind. I want to make a decision soon so I can get to it! These others I will check out!

These e-Liquid venders I have not heard all these names Dana but I take it you have some experience with them all? I’m disappointed to hear I’m not going to find that Taste I loved with Camel Cigarettes I really thought I would but akaTina you say that I may like the Turk & USA Blend from Liberty Flights? Have you personally tried it? Were you a Camel smoker? That is very interesting to find that non menthol smokers end up liking menthol. I wonder what it is and why? So, akaTina you are using Mint juice opposed to Menthol? Is there a difference? Is Mint better then Menthol? I have tried a little Menthol in the Virginia Blend I purchased it is quite nice. This Virginia Blend I got tastes much better to me then the Camel I got. Smooth Tobacco Flavor not at all like Camels but definitely a Tobacco flavor.

Yes I can still twirl my Zippo DanKnowsJack I have it on my desk so I still play with it but I don’t carry it every day like when I smoked. Though, it does come with me when I’m going out to the Bar or a Music venue. I have to Light the Girls Cigarettes! Maybe I should try twirling an eCig through my fingers baton style? Wait, what is this you tricked me! Damn an eCig disguised as a Zippo! Now that is pretty cool I will check that out! Thanks DKJ! Oh yeah I just remembered can you get the eGo-C Variable in a Pass Through? Hmmm?

Thank again for all your help!

Fact of the matter is, taste is very subjective. What one person likes, another will not. Someone will describe a flavor, and five others will give a different description. Unfortunately, e-liquid flavors are pretty hit or miss. We can tell you what we like, but it is no guarantee that you will like it.

The best advice is to order from multiple e-juice vendors that offer sampler packs to find a flavor you like. Instead of buying multiple 10-30 ml bottles of flavors that you may not like and never use again, the samplers only have 3-5 ml bottles. More than enough to see if you like them. If you find a winner, order more in a larger size. The two juice vendors that was at the bottom of my first link would be a good place to start.

Don't limit yourself to traditional tobacco flavors. You most likely will be surprised what you like. A coffee flavor, a fruit flavor, a desert flavor, etc. And also know that your taste buds have been damaged from years of smoking. They'll heal, but it may take 1-6 months. So, to help your sense of taste, exhale some of your vapor through your nose. It helps you "taste" vapor flavors.

The "what kit to start with?" link that I pointed you to has the Spinner and Twist batteries that are so highly recommended. The same with the mini Vivi Nova and T3 clearomizer. These are pretty much universally approved by the vaping community, so you can't go to wrong going with any of them.

I'll add another to the don't only try tobacco flavors list. I got some sampler cartos with my first battery and really liked one in particular so I ordered a 30ml bottle. A week after it showed up and my taste buds had adjusted from not smoking cigs, I didn't like it any more. I hated menthol cigs, but I'm hooked on a spearmint juice right now.

As for the T3s and Vivi Novas, I really like T3s but I'm about to order/try the Novas because of all the praise they get.

I smoked Camels Turkish Golds for a while but not in recent years. I have personally tried the Turk & USA blend from Liberty Flights and while I won't tell you it tastes like a Camel, it is good. I also enjoy the Luxury flavor from Liberty Flights; it's a bit sweeter than the Turk & USA. Menthol is popular as a juice flavor because it helps vaping feel like smoking: you can feel it in the throat hit and in your lungs. I use mint instead of menthol because I like a milder throat hit, plus I just plain enjoy a nice sweet mint flavor.

I agree with everyone else, though, that the best tactic is to get a broad variety to sample because you are almost certain to be surprised by what you wind up enjoying. My favorite vapes right now are soda flavors!

I'll add something else as far as juice flavors go. You may find that you can not tell one flavor from the next at the beginning, owing to the damaged taste buds. You should be able to vape some of the stronger flavors like cinnamon, the mints, and menthol.

However, should you want to try the cinnamon flavors be aware that some of of them could melt or crack the plastic of the mini nova tanks and the T3 clearomizers. In that case, have a few cartomizers available and learn how to fill those. Cartomizers are stainless steel and can handle the flavors that can crack/melt clear plastic. This is merely a chemical reaction of ingredients in cinnamon and the clear plastic polycarbonate; these flavors are entirely safe to vape in the proper container.

Why vape something that can melt plastic? Well, you've drank a Coke before, right? Well, what do you put on the crud that cakes an auto battery post? Coke. It's safe to drink, but it can dissolve that crud on a battery right off.

OK Vapor Friends: I started checking out the websites you included very helpful Thank You. That Vision Spinner is something else! Amazing battery I imagine days of Vaping between charges? I like the eGo Twist too! I’m glad Dustin sent me here! Does Joytech have a comparable unit to the Vision Spinner? 1300mah is serious battery! What stores would you recommend that carry it? Take in mind the other parts and accessories I will need to purchase as well. Or should I hit different stores for different parts and accessories? I still think I would like a Pass through that I can take on the go with good battery life do you think going with the pair is a logical choice? I would need at least two tank Clearomizers one for Regular Tobacco Flavors and one for Menthol as I like to change up during the day. Then what if I come across other flavors I like? How many Clearomizer, Cartomizer, Atomizers & Tanks do you own?

Now you have me thinking I have been limiting myself to tobacco flavors so I should heed your advice and do the samplers to see what else I would like. It just seems wierd to be 'Smoking' Vaping some of these flavors! I did purchase a 10ml Wintergreen as I was also a between your cheek & gum Guy I enjoyed Kodiak Wintergreen Chew from time to time especially in outdoor activities. I like it! It seems I need to forget that 'Real Camel' Taste and see what other Vapor flavors have to offer. I will be more open minded from now on!

Batitude you have some very nice equipment! Very impressive! I like the looks of those Glass tips. How do they compared to the Stainless Tips? Dana I saw some extreme deals like you are speaking of at Deal Extreme I purchased a cheep kit from them with extra cartridges took a month to get here they tasted awful did not last long and battery life was well, not! I had some eLiquid lined up to purchase from them but was hesitant after my shipping and taste experience that’s what led me to the local stores. I didn’t want to wait. For what I spent on the kits extra batteries & cartridges at these stores I could have totally set my self up on what I’m trying to do now. Live and learn maybe someone will learn from my experience!??

Something I noticed yesterday and this evening is that the Camel flavors seem to be tasting better like they got better with age after opening? Can this be? Also the Cartridges I have from Green, Vape well but seem milder then the Cartridges from NEXgen. The NEXgen have a more intense throat hit and even seem to burn if taking a huge hit this is both being refilled with Reg Tobacco or Menthol eLiquid? Could that have anything to do with the Resistance? I have no clue what the resistance is on either cartridge but I will enquire.

So I’m down to Joytech 1000mah Pass Through and Vision Spinner 1300mah Variable Voltage at least two of the CE5 eGo Clearomizer or the CE5 Mini Vivi Nova Tank. I’m still looking at some of the others you all suggested but this setup looks pretty good what say You All? I will need to add Tips what should I be looking at? Also does anyone use a holster for their Battery like something on the belt? Or a Lanyard? How about a carying case any suggestions with these? I know I have so many questions but I don’t want to blow it like I did with the kits! Again Thank You Very Much for all Your Help!

Hey Skullman,

nice to see more bikers giving up the smokes for vaping. It can be a bit uncomfortable sitting at a biker bar and whipping out the pv instead of a smoke, but wgaf what anyone else thinks. A holster for devices sounds like a great idea. They do have lanyards, but I don't want it flopping around my neck while on the scoot. It is kinda nice to whip out a cig-a-like while on the bike and get some nic without the hassles of cigs.

I'm using the Vision Spinner batts because I am vaping all day and it lasts me about 14 hours. I'm a tank carto guy. I like a 3.5ml tank and the Dual Coil 1.5 ohm cartomizers. Gets me through all day. There are hundreds of tips...just get whatever turns you on. I like the pipe tobacco flavors like Honey Tobacco, Cherry tobacco. The coffee flavors are pretty good too. And, yes steeping (letting flavors sit without the lid) can improve the taste. I got my Spinners from ecigexpress.com. They are a big resource and have good prices and quick shipping. I've bought some supplies from Madvapes.com with happy results as well.

Enough about vaping, Time to get to the important stuff..............what sled are you riding? '04 Heritage here. Post up a pic!

I have found that ordering from different juice vendors is the way to go. That way you get a wider spectrum of products to choose from until you find the brand, flavor and type you like. For me at the moment, I am using a provape-1 with either a ViVi Nova mini or standard tank. The flavor and TH are really good. I have been trying different ohm atomizer heads and have found, for me at least, that the 1.5 ohm atomizer head works best on the 3.7 volt provape-1.

And as a side note, I went up to the Harley dealership I used to work at to see some of the guys and while I was there I stepped outside so one of my buddies could have smoke and I could take a toot or two off of my rig. Well as soon as I smelled his cigarette I literally wanted to wretch, the smell was totally offensive. I don't miss analog cigarettes at all. Good luck brother.

Batteries are rated by mah's. 100 mah's is equal to 1 hour of battery use. So a 1300 mah battery should last 13 hours of use. (Easy way to figure is knock the last two zero's off the mah rating for the hours of use). So no, no "days of vaping between charges", more like half a day. ;)

Compare the prices between the two vendors that I linked you to before http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/369128-what-kit-start-3.html#post8309522 for prices between the two batteries' Spinner and Twist. The official Twist is made by Joye/Joytech and the official Spinner is made by Vision, as you seemed confused on that point.

Take in mind the other parts and accessories I will need to purchase as well. Or should I hit different stores for different parts and accessories? I still think I would like a Pass through that I can take on the go with good battery life do you think going with the pair is a logical choice? How many Clearomizer, Cartomizer, Atomizers & Tanks do you own?
I often buy from multiple vendors to find the equipment that I want. Not many vendors have what I feel I need on one site. So keep track of what vendors have that you like for easy access to order again in the future. I have ordered from at least 20 different vendors to get what I want.

I currently use cartotanks exclusively, and I have about 20 of them. Most have their own flavor of e-liquid. They are the best option for me me for an all-day, hassle-free convenience and great flavor. Clearomizers or the Kanger t3, and the mini Vivi Nova clearo tank are often recommended for a beginner because they are easier to use; cartotanks have a learning curve and could be something for you to look into for the future.

tankcase1.jpg My cartotank carrying case.

Now you have me thinking I have been limiting myself to tobacco flavors so I should heed your advice and do the samplers to see what else I would like.

Baditude you have some very nice equipment! Very impressive! I like the looks of those Glass tips. How do they compared to the Stainless Tips?

Getting sampler packs from multiple vendors is a great way to find new flavors cheaply. These come in small 5 size more or less of 3-4 flavors for a smaller price that the usual 10 -30 ml bottles that you may not even like. E-juice flavors are very hit or miss, and taste preference is a very personal decision. Once you find a flavor that you like, order more in a larger bottle size.

I prefer the glass tips myself. I like the way they feel on my mouth. I don't care for the way metal feels on my mouth. It is strictly personal choice learned from experience. Yours may very well be different.

Many e-juice flavors will benefit from a few days to even a couple of weeks of steeping (maturing). Compare this to making some pot roast with all the different vegetables and spices mixed with the meat and broth. The mix will taste good on the day it is made, but the flavor improves with each succeeding day. E-juice is the same.

Think of the resistance rating of juice delivery devices like the watts on a lightbulb. The ohm rating refers to the amount of heat applied to the juice. The lower the number (ohm rating), the more heat, but too much heat can burn the juice.

This link will take you to an article written by the person who created the Safe Vaping Power Chart. With this chart you match the ohms used with voltage applied to come up with the ideal wattage (usually 8 watts for most people). The chart is about mid-way down the page. He also explains a little more in detail about the terms and what they mean to you.

There are four major brand manufacturers of cartomizers: Boge, Smoktech, Kanger, and Ikenvape. They are all fine cartos, but everyone has their personal preferences based on personal experience or familiarity.

Cartomizers are available in stainless steel, stainless steel with a black sticker applied, and in clear plastic. The stainless steel ones can be used in cartotanks, and can be purchased with the holes already for use in the tank or some people punch their own holes with a carto punch tool.

Like all juice delivery devices, these come in different resistances (ohm rating). Study the following Safe Vaping Power Chart to find what ohm rating will be best for the voltage device that you own.

I have a question.. would both the vivi nova and kanger work with provari mini? Also, does the MAH on battery effect device? I'm confused why provari mini is recommended for 700mah on 18350. If I get something higher will it damage the provari mini? I'm sorry for invading the thread.. in advance!

The Vivi Nova should work without issues. Some of the earlier versions had connectors that were to long and caused issues with pushing some battery device's connector in toward the battery, but I believe that issue has been corrected.

The Kanger T3 will need a 510-to-eGo adaptor I am pretty certain.

Concerning the mah rating on batteries question, I'm assuming you are asking can you use a battery that has a higher mah rating than the 700 mah AW IMR battery that Provape recommends using? You might be able to use another brand manufacturer's battery, but you run the risk of it not being the correct length or have the right top on the battery.

The Provari's were designed completely with the AW brand IMR batteries in mind, and the website is implicit to use only those. Provari's are very sensitive to other brand batteries not working properly. You might do fine with another brand if you wish to take the risk but do not recommend it.
